Awesome. Plus it's logical that they need a new character from that faction after the events of #1-5.

I like the description of this character's persona considering that G1 Skyquake's mould was repainted for Machine Wars Starscream -- having the two seemingly diametrically opposed personas (at least as far as their loyalty's concerned) seems ironic considering. :)

NOTE - SPOILERS!
A preview clip of Skyquake and Starscream has been posted on the IGN website (http://www.ign.com/videos/2011/02/10/transformers-prime-exclusive-clip-meet-skyquake).
The Decepticons are already over-powering the Autobots with their numbers and firepower... this character looks more intimidating than Megatron.

BTW, the show starts again in America from today, but might be weekly, so could be a while before we see the new episodes (on secondary sources).

Aaaand, while I'm at it, on a related news item that probably isn't big enough to need it's own topic...
Duane Capizzi, Supervising Producer/Co-Developer of Transformers: Prime, said this about the (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/transformers-prime-39/bonus-q--a-with-transformers-prime-creators---answered-171430/)reasoning behind Bumblebee and Soundwave's voices.
We inherited Bumblebee’s speech handicap from the Transformers films: that’s the Bumblebee that the new generation of fans knows. That said, our backstory for how he lost his voice stems from ‘Exodus’ continuity, though it will be a while before we see that in the series. We also felt it was an interesting variation on the (initial) relationships between the other Teen/’Bot units in the mini-series – i.e., Miko is instantly smitten with Bulkhead -- who can’t get far enough away from her, and Jack and Arcee would rather not have anything to do with each other. But, with Raf and Bumblebee, there’s an instant mutual rapport.
As for Soundwave, we felt that if he were the “surveillance” ‘Con, it wouldn’t be necessary for him to speak – only to play back what he’s heard or learned. Similarly, he’s faceless in that regard (i.e., except for what he plays back). We think it gives him a unique and sinister presence, somewhat ninja-like – he watches, and listens. We feel that contrasts well with Starscream – the Decepticon who won’t shut up. If you listen closely, the “harmonic” element to Soundwave’s G1 voice is in the mix whenever he plays back – it was our nod to the original. By the way, we’re not necessarily saying Soundwave CAN’T talk – just that he chooses not to. Yet.

I think what the show is trying to say is that because Raf is so young that his mind is flexible enough to quickly learn what BB is saying. It's just like in star wars everyone knew what R2 was saying.
I think you're over thinking it anyway. Just go with it.

Just watched episode 6. To summarise without spoilers - more of the same, which is not necessarily a bad thing if you enjoyed the 5 part mini-series.

Most of the time, yes. (So you're right - certainly 'everyone' couldn't understand Artoo.) Luke seems to understand Artoo after a while (but possibly in the same way as my mum has conversations with her cat.) In his X-wing, Luke can have conversations with Artoo, but that's because the droid's beeps are translated on Luke's display.

I still feel like this is the soulless amalgamation of the
Moive and Animated. there's no heart to it. Just going through the motions.

I thought it was a pretty good episode until they up and decided to *SPOILER*
Kill Skyquake only 20 minutes after we got introduced to him. I thought he had a lot of potential, and although you can never say never with these sort of things, it would of been great to see another Con added to the their ranks, because right now it's looking rather one sided with only Starscream and Soundwave.
Still the action was pretty good.

I've got to agree with you there, great fight scenes and fairly sharp story, but killing him off so quickly seems like a waste of potential.

Guys, guys - We've only had Prime's word that he is Dead, how well informed is he when he still believes Megatron to be dead?
Wait and see I reckon, I don't think we've seen the last of that big bugger. ;)

Still not sold on this series, it is pretty enough, but so far Ratchet and Starscream are the only characters that have had some time to shine (as in get characterisation, rather than fighting time).
I doubt that is the end of Skyquake, but I really hope that the federal agent isn't the reason all the new cons get their alt mode. Seeing as the writers (possibly for the animators sake) see to have most of the story happening in the middle of nowhere, it will be hard for them to come up with new angles for the new cons to get alt modes.
Now that there are two confirmed seasons, hopefully we can get some nice long story arcs going (in the background, not suggesting this should be a series where if you miss an episode, you miss out!)

Normally I wouldn't think twice about Skyquake coming back to terrorize the Autobots once again, but I'm worried by the recent interview with the TFP writers who said "when a character is dead, they are dead and we mean dead as in cut into little pieces dead". Cliffjumper was included solely to demonstrate this. Leading up to the show all signs pointed to him being a major character for the Autobots: he featured heavily in the comics and had a very high profile VA, yet none of that stopped him from being killed in the opening 10 minutes of the 1st episode.
Now if a highly popular and well known character like Cliff can be killed off so easily, I'm worried about the chances a rather obscure guy like Skyquake has of actually returning.

That's a fair point and it would certainly seem that when a character is dead, they're dead and they mean DEAD.;)
IMO though, Cliff dying was made abundantly clear but with Skyquake we only have Prime's word really so I'm not totally convinced - Besides, let's not forget that lovely little mineral called Dark Energon. ;):D

Yeah to me it seems like Skyquake was simply deactivated as opposed to killed like Cliff, big difference between the two. And I agree I could really see Skyquake coming back when Megatron does, I doubt Megs would leave his mightiest and most loyal warrior to rust in the dirt.
But the cynic in me thinks that his fate was very deliberately left ambiguous, so the writer's pretty much have free reign to decide his fate in the future... Ah well I guess we can look forward to Wheeljack next.

I wonder if the animators can afford to kill off characters within an episode or two all the time, and not have them recurring in some way. They have to produce 3 animation models for each character, so just having a character show up for one episode of a show that can only afford a limited cast, sounds a little unlikely. (for those hoping Skyquake returns later)

Yeah they were talking about this over at TFW, if the show is on such a tight budget as we are led to believe (which the producers have constantly been saying) you would think it would be pretty counter productive to spend the $$$ on these models and use them only once and throw them away.

Well they did reuse Cliffjumper as Zombiejumper. ;)
As for Skyquake, he's presumed KIA. We see Cliffjumper actually dying, but not Skyquake. He crashed and burned, but was his Spark actually extinguished? Who knows. After all, Megatron was presumed killed when that Space Bridge blew up, yet he survived (barely). So as far as I'm concerned, Skyquake was defeated, but whether he was actually slain or not is debatable.
