Out of curiosity I'd like to watch a few episodes again, it's been a very long time.
Won't be the same without our apparently Australian exclusive(?) Machine Men theme song.

I spy an interesting Legal fight... :D
Should be interesting for the Gobots fans anyway, however few there are! :D, as this has probably been a long time coming really. ;)
@Sky Shadow: I hear you dude, Nothing beats the Mighty Machine Men! :D:cool:
(How Australia scored an exclusive franchise name is beyond me!)

If WB release thru their movies on demand, I hope any one who wants a copy knows people in the states. They won't ship to Australia.

Seriously Hasbro should make a updates of the Gobot toys as part of classics and I mean actual representations of the original characters not just nameslaps.
They could integrate them as a sub faction of the Autobots, they don't have to be from Gobotron or anything like that. Same with the Renegades.
They have already done Crasher (sort of) so why not the rest?

I think the only reason why they haven't dude is because next to all of the Kids these days wouldn't even have the slightest idea of what or who Gobots are/were. :o
I, as well as many-many others, would buy updated Hasbro versions in a heartbeat mind you! - I mean, F@#$, how incredibly awesome would a modern interpretation of Cy-Kill, Crasher & Cop-tur in Classicsverse aesthetics be!?! :D:D:D
Maybe... Just maybe, with the release of these DVDs - Hasbro may just consider the proposal? ;)

But Hasbro constantly makes characters that haven't been seen for decades or makes up completely new ones and they sell. A good toy sells itself.

Indeed, that is very true - Perhaps Hasbro just needs to hear enough people asking for them before they'll consider it? :o
I know I'm annoyed that Fracture was a US exclusive, commanding an expensive secondary markup and now is soon to be knocked off :( - So that alone should say to Hasbro that the characters are popular enough. :)
Hell, if they made them Scout Class figures I reckon they'd sell like hotcakes even more so! ;):D

I like Machine Men!+1
I've got a soft spot for the cartoon - I even have the complete set on DVD from ebay (terrible quality). So this sounds cool! :)

It's an interesting story actually... and one of the prime reasons GoBots failed compared to TFs on an international market basis.
GoBots were originally released (well before TFs) in several countries as Machine Men, Machine Robo, etc... They didn't sell too well in the US until they were re-packaged and re-branded as "GoBots" (esp once they commissioned a cartoon series). In Australia, however, sales were very strong!! So, the thinking at the time was "if it ain't broke..." So, the branding remained the same... we Aussies had our own theme song, MM logo and marketing. GoBots had different names in many different countries... Robo Machine in Europe (UK, France etc...) and initially the US, Machine Robo in Japan, and a whole host of others.
Again, this 'local charm' factor was unfortunately one of the line's failings... TFs were branded the same worldwide. It's funny, I have several Rocklords cards and they've simply stuck a 'Machine Men' sticker over the 'Gobots' title. :p

Thanks for the interesting historical lesson. :)
My favourite episode was "The GoBots that time forgot". But I only watched a little of it (and most of the GoBots series) .... :0 I did want to watch more, but for some reason didn't get around to it. So might be getting the DVDs.

I have a soft spot for Machine Men as well and sometimes wished I hadn't thrown out my old toys. This thread makes me wanna watch the Mighty Machine Men theme song on youtube, while I'm at it I should watch the 1982 Incredible Hulk cartoon theme song as well :)

I wonder if you can find it on there, and if so share a link? :) It might be a bit rare, but I did read recently that the theme song for the Australian cartoon came from the Gobot toy commercials.

It came from the Machine Men toy commercials, which were later (or perhaps contemporaneously) used in GoBot toy commercials as "Mighty Robots! Mighty Vehicles! GoBots!"
