Isn't that pretty sexist by the school?
Make an issue out of it. :P

I thought that the rule about leaving a ring or stud inside the ear for a certain period so that:
a/ The hole stays open
b/ Prevents infection (provided that the ring or stud isn't made from cheap materials)

Private schools often enforce more conservative dress codes. Although even at public schools you can't wear large earrings - many schools enforce studs or sleepers. This is done for safety because earrings can get caught on stuff (e.g. during sport, practical lesson (esp. industrial arts) etc.).

Yeah, pretty much. If you don't like your school's rules, change school. But so long as you choose to go there then you need to follow their rules.

hey optimus...

sorry mate, there isn't a way without leaving the piercing in.

the idea is to keep the wound from closing.....

take out the ring......wound starts to close

No more silly than a lot of other topics here. It's asking for practical help, so on-topic posts would need to offer advice on the subject. And it's not a rare thing these days for guys to have their ears (and other things) pierced, so it's best they know how to do it safely to avoid things like infection. The reasons they do it is purely up to them, like to follow a crowd/trend, to look pretty with sparkly jewellery, to blatantly show off their wealth, or to attract a certain gender - it's their choice and they don't need to say why they are doing it.

I know you can get like flesh color and transparent earings that just sit in the hole to prevent it from closing. They arent flashy or stylish but their really meant to prevent the hole from closing up and not being seen. Maybe ask at your local piercing store?

If you want to pierce then pierce it and put a band aid over it when your at school until its healed enough to take the stud out.

I didn't say that guys with ear piercings is silly, I said that this topic is silly.

I've had a earing in for 17 years and I can take it out and after 2 days the hole can start to close up, so there's no getting around that problem.maybe just leave it until you finish school.
