My Thoughts

+ Nice homage to sharkticons from G1 with the scraplets teeth
+ Bulkhead screaming like a girl was hilarious
+ I thought OP and Arcee shared a nice moment
- Is this Transformers?? BB and BH transform just once and thats it
+ Animation is getting better
- No Decepticons

I agree with you're plusses, but I think the negative are a bit harsh, this is a rather non-formulaic show, the Autobots had a serious problem and for once it didn't involve the Decepticons trying to steal or break something. It might be a little early for something like this but it serves to help ratchet realise that the humans aren't entirely useless.

another + goes to the fear factor. it's actually quite a dark concept, especially with bulkhead describing what a swarm of them could achieve.

hopefully in the future, we get a few Decepticon only episodes too, that would b very cool.

I don't think they're meant to be homage to the Sharkticons. They're a re-imagining of the scraplets that appeared in issue 29 of the original Marvel series comic.

As for the episode, the series continues to underwhelm me. I'm continuing to watch it in the hope that it gets better.

True, I'd never heard of them

Yeah, the Scraplets are clearly meant to be a homage to the G1 Scraplets. Although visually they look quite similar to G1's Meccanibals. Some people say that Reedman from Revenge of the Fallen was a kind of a Scraplet too, especially because Reedman himself is like a 'Scraplet gestalt'. The TF Prime Scraplets never merged though, which was kinda disappointing because as soon as I saw Scraplets in this is episode, I was looking forward to seeing them combine... didn't happen. :/

It's interesting how they made cold temperatures a weakness for Scraplets as opposed to the G1 Scraplets whose weakness was what the Cybertronians thought of as a rare legendary chemical (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water)

* - Is this Transformers?? BB and BH transform just once and thats it
Being stuck inside Autobot HQ I suppose there wasn't much opportunity for them to transform -- but when I saw the Ground Bridge open up and seeing Bulkhead volunteer himself as the "bait," I was expecting him to transform and drive through the Ground Bridge, but he didn't. :/ Perhaps he was too damaged to transform by that stage... but yeah, seeing him roll through it would've been cooler than watching him awkwardly run through it.

Also, if Prime and Arcee wanted to conserve body heat, wouldn't it be more effective to do so folded up in vehicle mode? (I imagine it would reduce their bodies' surface area to volume ratio)

* - No Decepticons
It's nice to have a different plot complication that doesn't involve Decepticons for a change. And the Scraplets are from Cybertron, and a neat tribute to G1 fans who would've recognised them straight away. :)

And I agree with what UltraMarginal said about this episode giving the humans the opportunity to save the day... the main complaint a lot of people have about humans in Transformers is their relative lack of contribution to the storyline, so here we actually have them making constructive contributions to the plot.

Seeing Raf go ape on that Scraplet... as Miko said, totally didn't see that coming! :D

voted 3 for me it's ok but a "meanwhile episode" which of course is necessary, every series has em. All I can say now isI want scaplets toy figure, lots of em

I did enjoy this epsiode. I loved Bulkhead's scream, and the Scraplets were actually very creepy. I think Five year old Tallest would've hid behind the couch.

Optimus's dialogue bugged the hell out of me, the Speechifying is getting really annoying but other than That Prime is starting to grow on me.

Bring on Wheeljack! And the Finale with the "mumble mumble giant planet mumble mumble"

*ahem* How come Optimus Prime and Arcee were shutting down from the cold blizzard when we've seen the Transformers fight in space?

coz they was only in space for a short time?

The Arctic is actually COLDER than space! (little known fact)

They don't shut down due to cold, they are allergic to snow.

All factual points.

NB not actually factual points

Not a bad episode, nice to have a standalone, Decepticon free episode that allows in show time for Megatron to get fixed up.

Scraplets looked good, but never really felt like a threat, for things that "eat a machine inside out, so as to get all the good stuff" they really only seemed to eat the top layer of metal off Bumblebee, and the script did a poor job of conveying any real lasting damage to the three bots on base.

Prime's speech was a ruiner, as soon as It was uttered, you knew Bulkhead would run through and save the day for all parties.

Still not better than animated, but moving in the right direction.

*sigh* Space is not freezing cold. In fact in our Solar System it's warm because there's nothing to protect you from Solar Radiation. Years of incorrect sci-fi has ruined our brains and our Smarmy answers.

I thought the temperature of space was about 2.7 degrees above Absolute Zero (-270.7 degrees or 2.7K), whereas apparently the minimum temperature in the Arctic is -50.

And naturally that non-refrigerated fire extinguisher must've spewed snow at the Scraplets. ;)

Well Bulkhead didn't necessarily say the inside-out eating thing would happen straight away. The Autobots probably have tough armoured hides, and it may take them some time to chew through that - in sufficient numbers - but once they get through to the "soft chewy centre" then they can work their way in and start nibbling back out. The G1 Scraplets gave Cybertronians slow and painful deaths.

Im guessing you meant 2.7ēK Below absolute zero = -2.7ēK coz if it was above then it's definitely warmer than the arctic then by 52.7ēK :p;)

Nicely sums things up for me, I agree with the negatives, being a Con fan first and foremost I was disappointed by their complete absense in this episode, it would of been nice to at least of seen an update on what Starscream is up to/Megatron's progress. The transforming thing annoys me too, did you know Ratchet has only transformered once since the show started!? I'm almost beginning to forget what his alt mode looks like.

Overall it was a pretty decent episode but it definitely felt like a pointless filler in terms of the overall story, I don't mind it once in awhile but I hope we don't see these sort of episodes becoming a regular thing. Especially since the first 6 episodes have flowed so smoothly in delivering a great continuing plot.

Lol! Of course, that's how those fire extinguishes work isn't it?:D

Just little sprinkle of fairy dust.

That's what happens when I post at obscene hours of the night when I should be sleeping! :p

Someone else on another board confirmed that the Arctic is more freezing than space even though the temperature of space is colder. To make a long story short, one word: convection. :) So there ya go.
