Hey guys hows it going? I was cleaning out my TF's from my shelf today and have noticed that a few of my MISB white TF toys are yellowing. I was wondering if you guys can tell me if yours is bone white or is there a tinge of cream on the toys itself. If you put it next to a white peice of A4 there is a slight difference. IF yours is the same colour as the paper let me know! Uggh so annoyed! Thanks

My Encore Skylynx seems to have a slight tinge of yellow to it but its not bone white.

My hasbro reissue Astrotrain on the plastic there is definately some yellow its different to the metal pieces that have been painted white.

My Encore Ratchet seems to also have a tinge of yellow and is not bone white.

My Henkei Ramjet also has this yellow tinge to it and is not bone white. i do have the hasbro one to and i remember it wasn't bone white but just not with me atm to compare it to my henkei one.

I also have a MISB Hasbro reissue UM but if I recally correctly he was never bone white a slight dull grey/white. please correct me if im wrong.

primatives: how well protected from UV light is your collection room? I've got blinds on the window which are usually kept shut and I've got various things draped over gaps where light would otherwise seep through. It's not totally perfect, but it works well enough. I also keep my G1s well away from the window as they yellow worse than newer generations of TF toys. Some people totally block their windows altogether. But yeah, basically the less exposure to sunlight the better for your toys in terms of photodegradation.

I personally haven't noticed any yellowing with any of my newer reissues. I display my reissue Astrotrain in train made (w/ my eHobby Astrotrain in robot mode and G1 Astrotrain in shuttle mode).

I noticed my Star Wars Crossover Luke SkyWalker/X-wing turned yellow in a bout a year. as did my Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go! toys, also made by Hasbro. I dread what's happened to my RID Prowl and Ultra Magnus. All these items have been kept in a dark cupboard btw so I have no Idea how that happened. I hope RTS Jazz doesn't do the same thing.

These were kept no where near the windows, I do believe however it could be the heat that contributes to these to these toys yellowing. I also think it could be the chemicals from the plastic bubble (i could be wrong) that are trapped inside that makes the toys yellow. These toys were kept in the dark up in the cupboard close to the ceiling and I think during the summer the heat makes it yellow.

I also have an RID UM and I have had him boxed away for ages and guess what? Its now yellow too!

I actually think if they had have been opened it wouldn't have yellowed. OH well I guess I'll try and track down new ones! Anyone checked their toys I have to see IF mine have been yellowed???

Interesting that this comes up. I was diggin through my boxes and found my old Darth Vader Davanced Tie fighter. Now, he has NEVER been on display and yet some of his plastic is showing yellowing. Only certain parts though.

Behold:

The piece with the date stamp has yellowed. This guy has spent most of his time in a tub conatiner that has been sealed and shut in a cupboard...

hmmm could be the heat. it would do to add a portable aircon or something to cool the room during hot days. As for me I bloick the sun out completely in my collection room. Though, Im thinking of rearranging so I can at least open a window when Im in it, so it doesnt feel so stuffy in the room. So far havent encountered any yellowing from the newer stuff , aside from the old ones which have yellowed before back in Phils. I have treated it with the H2O2 bath but alas theyve slowly come back yellowish now - e.g. AM Megatron. and I cant re dip them again coz the non white parts are already fading from the first soak.

Its kinda weird that encore skylynx would yellow, since it's quite new and away from light you say. guess they havent changed the formula for the plastic then...

That looks pretty normal - isn't that how he's supposed to look?

He's not pure white - more like a creamy white colour (or has mine yellowed too?)

So maybe keeping them cooped up is bad?

Classics Ramjet is off-white whereas Henkei Ramjet is more pearly white.

Here are some undoctored photos of Classics Ramjet:

Hmm from those pics looks like henkei ramjet is prone to yellowing mine is consistent in that I can't see white anywhere all overs it's the same creamy white

I don't have Henkei Ramjet (nor have I seen one IRL), so I comment about the white on that toy, but here are some photos of Henkei Ramjet:

**SNIP**

From recollection, mine's not that yellow, but I'll compare it side by side with my own Drift when I get home tonight.

So I had a look at my Henkei Ramjet vs Generations Drift, and my Drift is whiter than Ramjet

It's still not a pure white, but a slightly cream coloured white, one shade lighter than Ramjet.

On the other hand, my Classics Ramjet is pretty much cream coloured compared to the Henkei one and is probably two shades less white than my Drift.

Go figure... Drift and Classics Ramjet are displayed in a glass cabinet away from sunlight or any direct light whatsoever whereas Henkei Ramjet is pretty much stored in the dark

I had a henkei ramjet. It is indeed 'off' plastic white straight out of the box. It's one of the major things that bugged me so I sold him :p

ok so i manage to take a photo of my henkei ramjet, it looks like the colour is a slight tinge of creamy white and in photos, it does look like its whiter than what it actually is.

I took pics of this without flash and in my previous photos it looks much more yellow cos i noticed my gf has those yellow downlights which added to the yellowness.

I am yet to notice any of my newer toys yellowing and the ones bought in 2006 were exposed to a room which had a lot of natural light come through for a couple of years.

Only about 10 months ago did I place them in a dedicated and darkened collection room.
