the box art and instructions say he comes with a gun? is this correct.

According to TFWiki (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Starscream_%28G1%29/toys#Machine_Wars), he comes with 10 missiles as his included accessories, no mention of additional guns or anything.

I have him and I kinda remember he does not have a gun. Will have to look

No gun.
The boxart is just recoloured Skyquake art (who did come with a gun).

Certainly no gun, the originals had the GPS/BPS weapons that snap easily, none for the MW repaint.
