So it's the one you've been waiting so long for, you've probably already seen all the good stuff on tfw2005, seibertron or even the botcon website (if not, check them out as well). I actually uploaded most of these photos a few days ago, but by the time I have been typing up all the info that other websites don't have (the higher priority), I've usually run out of time to post the links to my some of my photos.
THese are only a small selection of my photos, and the rest will be posted when I return home in just under 24 hours from now. I'm currently at the LA airport, waiting for my flight that leaves in 6 hours time, but only have an hour and a half of battery power left in my computer. So I'll keep posting photos here until my computer dies.

Nice piccies there Griffin!

Getting all the (I assume US only) release dates for the figures is both a blessing and a curse, I now know roughly how long it should take till we see these guys, but it seems so very far away!

I am pretty sure that Australian retailers would sell it at an insane price, almost the same cost as importing it perhaps more. When it comes to smoke stacks, they are nice and long in the pics, I hope that they stay that way for the final retail product.

Taking photos wasn't allowed in that presentation, so we will have to wait until Hasbro releases pictures, or the SDCC presentation, which they don't seem to have a problem with photos being taken there.
Ravage transforms from cassette to panther, like the original, and is supposed to be able to fit into the original Soundwave. For this 2-pack though, Ravage (in cassette mode) plugs onto the back of Hound's jeep mode, similar to an early Gen1 episode. Hound is still an army jeep with missile launcher, and the robot mode looks more like the cartoon version than the Gen1 toy.
Cyclonus has a rough look of the Gen1 toy, in both modes, but the jet mode looked to me a little distorted in its overal shape.

Yep, according to the person at Hasbro responsible for this recolour (another fan who got a foot in the door and worked his way into the TFs creative team) wanted this toy to be Crasher, and even tried to get the name for the toy as well. One thing that works against them though is that, even though Hasbro now owns Tonka (who produced Gobots/Machine Men), and can use the names, they can't use story or character elements from Gobots (something to do with Bandai, which is still a rival to Takara).

:)Very nice pics Griffin, do you have any better ones of the Dealers room?

I do, but it might take a day. I just got home 2 hours ago and have been unpacking, and now just checking the board. The BotCon website usually has photos of the dealer room as well, in their photo gallery pages.

THat's okay, I took photos of just about everything in the art contest display area. I just posted up a few of the more interesting ones in the short amount of time I had left in my computer's battery. As soon as I get myself fully unpacked and settled, I will go through all the rest of my photos and do up a full BotCon report, which might take a day or two.
I just had a look, and the botcon website has got a full gallery again of the art contest entries:

There wasn't a lot of entries this year, but some nice pieces though.

Hi Griffin, Welcome back and thanks for the great pics!

When it come to Hound and Ravage, how does that work? Is this a 'vs' set or a team double pack set? I am a bit concerned because it feels odd that Ravage plugs into Hound when they are supposed to be on opposite sides.

They are still rivals, but I think the episode had Ravage attach hiself magnetically to the back of Hound, while in cassette mode, to sneak into the Ark. And it doesn't plug into Hound, just onto the back (probably with posts into the cassette holes).

Welcome back Griffin. Thanks again for all the great info and pics! :)

Ravage was a new mould, and still transforms into an audio cassette. Cheetor is also new, but probably wouldn't be too different to the standard 'four legs into two legs and two arms' transformation.

Welcome back Griffin :)!
I'm guessing the cronies were pretty damn strict when it came to ensuring that no one had any type of camera/recording device during the Classics/Animated panels

They were telling people not to take photos, and we didn't see any flashes, but it would have been possible to take photos without a flash, without being noticed. Saintly said that he came in late and started taking photos before being told not to, but if he took photos of anything interesting I told him not to post them here.

I guess those sort of presentations are the incentive to go to BotCon, but keep in mind that their presentation at SDCC last year appeared to be the same as their BotCOn presentation, and photos were allowed at the SDCC. This year's SDCC is in June I think, so we might see some of the sneak peeks online then.

THe look of the toys will fit them into the Universe line (which is what the packaging will be anyway), but the added gimmick with Ravage is that it will also be able to fit within Gen1 Soundwave. These anniversary toys will look different enough to stand out a fair bit from the series their original versions are from (so Ravage is not a Gen1 style looking toy). But if you consider the SOundwave reissue as part of the Classics line (because it was in Classics packaging), this Ravage toy ends up being closely related to the Soundwave toy anyway.

Ravage was a new mould, and still transforms into an audio cassette.

Yeah, I got that. Sorry cos I seem to be asking the question the wrong way...

I'm more curious to know how the new mold differs from the G1 origional. Like I heard that it has more articulation but does not have the missile launchers. So does it look more like the concept VHS pic in bot mode - in that it has more articulation in the limbs and has a more realistically proportioned feline shape as opposed to the stuck-together legs and long neck etc? Does it still have roughly the same transformation sequence or do the limbs fold out a different way - maybe like comparing G1 Lazerbeak to Booster x10. Is the head shape longer like Alternator Ravage or flatter like Alternator Battle Ravage. Has he got much color detailing besides the standard black, maybe silver and/or purple highlights? Just any info you can provide.

Yes, I have alot of time for Ravage. :)
Pity I will most probably have to grab Hound as well.

Thanks.

No idea on how it relates to it. We got shown lots of future toy pictures very quickly, and the best way to describe Ravage was that it looked like it would fit in quite well with the Classics theme. The legs look independent to each other, and it looked a little more fuller than the original cassette, but not sure if it would be much more rounded if it is supposed to still fit inside SOundwave. I think the cassette mode had a lot more gaps to it, so that the cat mode looked a little more curved.

Woo~ Looked like a heap of fun~! =D I would nab up nearly all those Animated toys! Though the urge to fix the poses of the figures in the display cases is incredibly high *twitch* I don't know about you guys, but I have a thing for having figures with on-balance poses/interesting. ^^;

I have to say Botcon'08 has been fun!

Those Animated/Hasbro panels are great. We're told not to take any pics but they released all those details after the panel in the dealer room anyway.

I did take some pics at those panels, but I won't post it here... particularly if I wish to still participate in this board :D
