I hate it when people don't take something 'sacred' (to this 26 year franchise), seriously. Shame on Tformers (and any other fan-site) for starting a meaningless movement, just to see if their site could influence the vote and have a character with an unfortunate connotation in its name be voted in before a real Icon. And shame on Hasbro for legitimising that vocal minority, making it possible for a non-iconic character to be inducted into something very prestigious. We've waited a quarter of a century for Hasbro to see this as more than just a toyline, and this just makes a mockery of the whole point of this concept. If the people at Hasbro see that the fans are not taking this seriously, they won't bother taking us seriously with anything that they could involve the fans with. The awards certainly aren't an investment into sales, as it isn't publicised outside of the fandom.
Hasbro's press release on the vote, worded like it is the Nobel Prize or Academy Awards of Transformers...
In 2010, Hasbro inducted humans and robots from the worlds of toys, entertainment and CYBERTRON into the inaugural class of its TRANSFORMERS Hall of Fame, honoring more than 25 years of “robots in disguise” action. Now in its second year, Hasbro is once again turning to fans to help finalize the 2011 robot inductee class.
Hasbro’s internal panel of judges has chosen three iconic characters to induct into the TRANFORMERS Hall of Fame in 2011—Heroic AUTOBOTS IRONHIDE and RATCHET, as well as evil DECEPTICON SOUNDWAVE.
Beginning today, TRANSFORMERS fans around the world may cast their vote for the 2011 Fans’ Choice robot inductee to join the honored ranks, alongside last year’s honorees OPTIMUS PRIME, BUMBLEBEE, MEGATRON, STARSCREAM and the 2010 fan-voted character, DINOBOT.
The 2011 Fans’ Choice finalist ballot was created with input from several TRANSFORMERS collector-fan media outlets, which conducted independent polling of their readers to ensure the ballot represents the robots that most resonate with TRANSFORMERS’ passionate fans. The 2011 Fans’ Choice finalist ballot features GRIMLOCK, SHOCKWAVE, AUTOBOT ERECTOR, WASPINATOR and AUTOBOT JAZZ. Fans may cast votes daily from now until 11:59 PM ET on April 22. The winning robot will be revealed at the TRANSFORMERS Hall of Fame induction ceremony at BotCon in Pasadena, CA, on Saturday, June 4.
The TRANSFORMERS Hall of Fame was created to honor those influential in building the iconic entertainment brand, as well as the actual “ROBOTS IN DISGUISE.” The inaugural induction ceremony was held at BotCon 2010. TRANSFORMERS influentials Bob Budiansky, Peter Cullen, Hideaki Yoke, and Kohjin Ohno were members of the inaugural class, along with five notable robot characters that are a part of Transformers lore.
Out of 26 years of Transformers characters, a micromaster with a funny name is more iconic than everyone else??? Really?
Such immaturity makes us all look bad.
And Erector is likely to get voted in too, because people can vote every day during the 10 day period. And if there is a dedicated movement to get this character voted in, those people are more likely to vote every day, compared to everyone else who will probably just vote once, spread out over the other 4 nominees.

Just to clarify - Ratchet, Soundwave and Ironhide are already being inducted into the HOF this year...
The fans vote on the fourth "Iconic" character to be included, as Hasbro's way of letting us have our say as to who we feel is deserving.
The five candidates fans vote on for that fourth place are - Grimlock, Shockwave, Jazz, Waspinator, Erector.
Maybe the new bio for Erector by Hasbro is their way of saying that maybe this HOF thing isn't meant to be taken seriously. Which would be a pity if they feel that way about it.
"Wait, what is this? Why am I here?"
Once a member of the evil CONSTRUCTICONS, AUTOBOT ERECTOR was scrapped from the team in favor of the DECEPTICON HOOK, because he wasn’t green. Dejected, AUTOBOT ERECTOR had no choice but to join the AUTOBOTS and did so at the battle of Tyger Pax. There he saved the day by distracting enemy fire with his body allowing for OPTIMUS PRIME and the AUTOBOTS to escape the battlefield. AUTOBOT ERECTOR is a true creative genius and now hailed as the top construction engineer for the AUTOBOTS, having designed such marvels as the Armada Laserbeak Surveillance System and the Real Gear Quick Action Weaponry. AUTOBOT ERECTOR is favored by many AUTOBOTS for representing a lost generation of TRANSFORMERS who prove you don’t need to famous to loved by all.

Just for interest's sake, the final Ozformers tally (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=10531) (and believe it or not, I didn't rig it) was:
Lugnut - 5
Grimlock - 4
Waspinator - 3
Devastator - 2
Beast Wars Megatron - 2
Jazz - 2
Sky-Byte - 2
Bulkhead - 2
Demolisher - 1
Botanica - 1
Menasor - 1
Optimus Primal - 1
Lockdown - 1
Shockwave - 1
Ratbat - 1
Rattrap - 1
Outback - 1
Wheeljack - 1
And yes, I'd say that all those characters are more iconic than Erector. If he wins, what are they going to show on his video, his tech specs and a bit of Cragun from Zone? Oh my Primus, he has a bio:
http://www.hasbro.com/transformers/en_US/discover/movie-news/TRANSFORMERS-HALL-OF-FAME-2011-Nominee-ERECTOR.cfm
Fan’s choice nominee: AUTOBOT ERECTOR

The voting bio makes Erector an "evil Constructicon" who had "no choice" but to be an Autobot? Yeah that's the same character who was "Programmed to build and preserve. Reluctant to destroy. Only fights when provoked." Yes Erector only has a brief bio but they are the established characteristics and ignoring those to make up new things just makes the whole thing worse.
Even if you liked the Micromaster that bio is so newly made up it may as well be a brand new character and doesn't deserves any votes over the other nominees.

Just to see which sites weren't taking the HOF awards seriously, I did a search (it isn't easy working out which American sites were involved).
Each site did a preliminary vote and sent five winners to Hasbro. Hasbro then compiled the results (somehow), and gave us the final five candidates to vote on.
TFwiki - Waspinator, Grimlock, Shockwave, Jazz, Arcee/Rodimus-HotRod (tied).
Seibertron - Grimlock, Shockwave, Waspinator, Jazz, Rodimus-HotRod
TFW2005 - Grimlock, Shockwave, Waspinator, Jazz, Erector
ASMzine - (might not be final count) BW Megatron, Grimlock, Swindle, Straxus, Thunderwing
ParryGamePreserve - results not published
KittysPryde - results not published
Allspark - BW Megatron, Rodimus-HotRod, Grimlock, Rattrap, Skybyte
Tformers - Erector, Shockwave, Grimlock, Rodimus, Wheeljack
Seems that Tformers was more actively rooting for Erector (sorry, couldn't help myself with that American euphemism) than TFW2005. I'll edit my earlier posting. But the discussion topics on TFW and even Allspark suggests that Erector will win the vote, just to prove a point. Seibertron discussion topic reads a bit more rationally, talking about why each of the other four deserve the honour.
If as suggested by one site, each nominee is allocated points (5 for 1st, 1 for last), I still don't see how Erector got ahead of Rodimus in the final count (unless other 'fan' sites voted Erector in as well - looks like it was the Q&A sites that were invited to vote).
Okay, I've ranted enough... padding out this topic already with 3 postings on how grrrrr I am...

I agree that Waspinator would be a good choice, as it gives a nod to the significance of Beast Wars, in the same way Dinobot was voted in last year.
He gets my vote because I think Shockwave, Grimlock and Jazz have a better chance at being the Hasbro-chosen inductees next year.

Theoretically, if you want to vote for Grimlock, Shockwave, Erector or Waspinator more than once a day, you can use different browsers on the same computer.
If you want to vote for Jazz, you can kiss my big, fat, stripy...

I hear what you're saying Griffin, as much as I still own him from when I was much younger, I don't think Erector is a worthy nominee at all.
I'll be voting Jazz, Jazz and Jazz, And if I really have to kiss someones shiny metal Bhind to do it then so be it:eek:

I thought Erector being in the vote was a joke until I saw him there. I thought it was meant for iconic characters. The type who when you drop there name most people would say "sure I've heard of them" not "HEHEHE, whats his function?"
Of course Griffin is probably right..He'll get in because of people not taking this seriously. I know they're just toys to some people but come on, some of us do take this stuff seriously! So what? It's our thing. Each to their own.

I'm kind of hoping that they have put him there only to appease the children, and that they will not consider his votes for the final cut, they won't have any media to present of him and it will damage the reputation of the hall.
I'm hoping it's just smart PR on Hasbro's part.

Would Erector even be known to children though? I'm not aware of any appearance from him apart from G1 and the repainted Mudflap version from Movie2007. Unless Hasbro's planning some kind of release of him in the future,

I can honestly say that Erector is my favourite of the Micromaster Transports. Having said that, I wouldn't vote him in for a hall of fame award. And I particularly agree with what Paulbot said about this stupid new bio that Hasbro's written up that's NOTHING like his original... it's almost as if this Erector is an entirely new character. Bah.

So lemme get this right... according to Hasbro's Hall of Fame bio for Erector, he was rejected from membership of the Constructicons just because he wasn't green?? This despite the fact that:
1/ Hauler is sometimes green, yet was never a member of the Constructicons. Yeah okay, some may argue that this is a Japanese continuity thing, but consider:
2/ In late G1 - and this only happened in Hasbro continuity - the Constructicons were yellow (and lost the ability to merge... and have individual names...)
3/ In G2 the Constructicons were yellow again (though not quite as yellow as they were in late G1 - and they regained their merge ability and individuality!)
...throw that on top of the contradictory profile (as Paulbot pointed out)... is Hasbro intentionally trying to fork around with continuity (and the Erector character) or are they just being PCC Over-Runs?? (o_O)

probably, since a part of the TFs community decided to FK with the Hall of Fame voting and get a stupid name in.
Someone at Hasbro: Erector? Why those damn bunch of 30something virgins still living in their mom's basement, they think this is a joke? Fine. 2 can play at that game. *types stupid bio*
