Oh Hell Yeah! :D:cool::cool:
I will damn be getting the lot of these guys, especially both forms of Mohawk!:eek::eek:
Here is a quick write-up of the NECA Gremlins exhibit, found here (http://www.poeghostal.com/2011/02/toy-fair-2011-neca.html).

Gremlins: This line has become an unexpected hit at Toys R Us, and NECA has a ton of product planned for 2011. There will be two series of Mogwai, one in spring and one in summer, followed by a series of Gremlins in the fall:

Series 1
Gizmo
George
Lenny

Series 2
Combat Gizmo
Mohawk
Daffy

Series 3 (not confirmed)
Flasher Gremlin
Green Gremlin
Brown Gremlin
George

But the big daddy of them all was the huge Mohawk Spider Gremlin, which was something I think Gremlins fans have been waiting for ever since NECA started the line. Now all we need is the Gargoyle Gremlin (with alternate stone version).

------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just saw this over at ToyArk.com (http://www.toyark.com/) and man...

Do I want these guys or what!:cool:

I love both of these movies and these guys would be awesome to put next to my 'After Midnight' Mohawk! ;)
Does anyone else share my interest in these guys or any of the previous releases?

Love em, want em! I loved these movies growing up. They are the pure embodiment of chaos.
Even though the second one had more comedy I love the other forms they took on after crashing the genetics lab. Bat Gremlin was the coolest but who could forget the Spider?

Indeed, I like how they incorporated an 'Aliens' type approach to form and ability albeit with Genetic Modification as opposed Hereditary Inheritance. ;)

I didn't mind the comedy either, as bad as Hulk Hogan is, I did like Spider-Mohawk, Bat-Gremlin, Vege-Gremlin, Electro-Gremlin and even The Brain, but my all time favourite is definitely this guy:

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/Mohawk.jpg

And is hence why I really want to get my hands on that 'Mogwai' version! ;):D

Was it Spike or Stripe?

You see, I wish they'd do a version of Spike/Stripe like my Mohawk above except retaining his Mogwai (Fur opposed to Flesh) Hairstyle, I find the proportions of the original batch to be a little too... Bobblehead-y? - If you know what I mean. ;)

I myself have 4 Critter movies to watch. :p

Very nice.

I only have one Gremlin figure, the smart one from Gremlins Two, but My cousin collects Gremlin figures (thanks largely to me and other friends feeding his collections at Xmas and birthdays), so I'll have to keep an eye on these.

Me too. Oddly enough after re-watching the movies at an older age I prefer Gremlins two, while the comedy is quite corny, the film is really a satire of both Gremlins one and the Hollywood sequel in general. Everything is bigger and better, and its clear the director was aware of how ludicrous most sequels of the era were. I particularly love the parts where leonard Maltin starts reading his real life review of Gremlins, only to be shanghaied by the monsters, and the part where the control room officer is asking Billy questions about timezones and exposing the obvious plot holes about eating after midnight.

Anyway there both classics in there own right, I hope Hollywood never remakes them.

Hursticon: It was Stripe in the first one and I think Spike in the second. Watching the first one now, Girlfriend keeps asking me if this is meant to be a kids show.

Can't wait to get to the second one. I'll offer my thoughts when it's fresh in my mind.

I warned you not to feed him after midnight!

I don't remember much of these movies (obviously because they were before my time haha), but I do remember the second(??) one where they're in a shopping centre and there is a spider-gremlin?

I just remember that one because gizmo wears a bandanna and shoots a flaming arrow at it :P

I thought it was stripe! :p
I do love the first movie for it's dark tone and I kinda of wonder what could've been if Spielberg had never touched it - Apparently in the original script, it called for Billy's Mum to have her head ripped off and thrown down the stairs as he enters the house! - Man that'd of been awesome! :D:cool:

I do believe the second head honcho of the bad guys is Mohawk because that is what it said on the packaging of that figure I posted before, I believe it was to pay homage to the original leader - Just meaner. ;)

LOL, that's cool man - at least you know of them because a lot of people your age around where I live would be like: "Gremo-what?":p
You're definitely thinking of the second movie dude and yeah, when Gizmo dons the Bandanna, ala Rambo ;), it is probably the closest he comes to being the character he was supposed to be - The bad guy! :D

I'm going to acquire these movies legally *shifty eyes*
anddddd then watch them now :P

I always wanted to but nobody else would watch them because of their supposed 'scaryness', but to me it was always just a little furby who couldn't be fed after midnight.
I'm having a weird memory now of big green blobs of goo everywhere. Did the gremlins explode when they were killed?

One thing dude - Don't call them Furbys.... :p(Kidding, Gremlins predates those horrid things by a good decade :D).
Well, for me I'd never call them scary, especially not the second movie, but the 1st has it's dark tones as it was originally envisioned to be a Horror film and not a Dark Comedy. ;)

I'm not going to tell you anything more until you've watched both of them! :p - Seriously man, you've got to watch them but just bare in mind that they were made in the late 80s early 90s and hence have a certain approach to things, you'll see what I mean. :D

Now go and watch them!

I know that they came before Furbys, but seeing as I grew up with them. It is really the only parallel I can draw between something of my childhood :P
The coincidental thing is (NOT IRONY DAMMIT!) is that Furbys would constantly scream that they were hungry, even at night!

I will watch them! Don't you worry about that!
I still remember other parts of the movie, but they're just little bits and pieces. The flaming arrow in the spider is what I remember most vividly haha! That, and the guy who gives him Gizmo at the start.

I had a Furby and it looked a bit like a Mogwai. But that was after I did some cosmetic work on it with a screwdriver and scissors. Damn thing would not be quiet. And it screamed.

Yeah that's fine dude, t'was only kidding but yeah - I reckon Hasbro was trying to go for a Mogwai toy when they came up with those horrid things but could just not quite acquire the rights to the likeness I guess.
I never had the dis-pleasure of ever owning one dude because back then, like now, I feel they were such a rip off attempt that I wanted to kill them - Kinda like the way I feel about WALL-E and Short Circuit's Johnny 5.:p
(Argh, showing my age now <Fends off the even older members with my walking frame> :p)

Ah good, I hope you do dude because they are awesome movies that could/should never be remade or rebooted because they were made in an era when things weren't Ultra-Realistic but people enjoyed and accepted that fact anyway - That era just can't be repeated or recreated IMO. :o

When you say "Gizmo was given to him at the start" - Are you referring to the scene where Billy finds him in the Old Chinese bloke's Antique Store or when Billy's Father goes into the Antique Store and the Old bloke describes the rules to him?

If it's the former?, it'd be the second movie, if the later?, it's the original. ;)

Man, every one of those things I saw I wanted to put under my boot - even when they were on bloody store shelves! :p

Perhaps I should've mentioned that those pics are from the 2011 New York Toy Fair?... Hehe. :o

Well, from what I've discerned from some Youtube reviewers and an interview with one of the NECA Heads, is that when they re-released their previous Gremlins merchandise under it's own line at American/Canadian TRU stores; they sold like absolute hotcakes which is the justification why they've decided to go back and do a fully fledged line with superior articulation and gimmicks but also to do every character and not just 2 i.e. Do All The Mogwai! and Do All The Gremlins! ;):D

The new figures will apparently have Ball and Swivel joints everywhere, as well as a ball in the back of their head in which when rolled will actually roll the eyes around in their head to allow for greater poses and expressions!:cool:

Whether we see any of these guys over here is still a mystery, unless perhaps Griffin or anyone else is able to shed any light on them from the 2011 Australian Toy Fair? :o, otherwise, I just hope that they will be available on online stores too and not just TRU America/Canada.

@hursticon

the following prices are just whats listed on popcultcha,

They have the series 2 mogwais (daffy, Mohawk and combat gizmo) listed for $25 each, and they have the series 2 gremlins (daffy george and flasher) for the same price, or you can get the 3 gremlins for $70. All are listed to ship out this month.

http://www.popcultcha.com.au/movie-gremlins-c-4_228.html

other wise big bad toy store has the first series of mogwais (george lenny and gizmo) for $45 but again its still a pre order.

I do indeed have a pair of the Mogwais , I've got Mohawk & Gizmo but I think I might've missed out on Lenny & George :( - Daffy is still obtainable from a couple of places however. :)
I've thought about picking up the Stripe Mogwai but the Gremlins 1 style is noticeably different to that of Gremlins 2, namely a slightly more "Cartoonish" appearance that I'm not entirely sure I like. :o

The eyes on the Mogwai are honestly very tedious & annoying :(; the "Articulated Eyes" gimmick doesn't quite work all too well, it's a royal pain in the ass to try & get them into a position that doesn't look retarded - Keeping them like that is another matter entirely!

The Gremlins however have painted eyes which don't move, this is probably for the better actually as they don't suffer the issues the Mogwai do and they end up looking SO much more life like ;) - George's eyes look absolutely amazing in my opinion. :D

This figure was extremely delayed in its release, going well-past the original release date solicited in the initial preorder, it too was completely devoid of any instructions much like the ED-209 (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=17745) which I think is rather poor for what NECA dubs its "Deluxe 7"-scale figure line" - of which ED & Spider-Mohawk are the 1st two release of. :o

Instructions on how to put the legs together were/are essential ; the trick is softening the plastic at the ends of the leg section's already attached to the figure, that form the sockets for the balls on the detached sections, with hot/boiling water - OTHERWISE you'll literally grind out the socket, rendering it impossible to connect the legs and leaving you with an expensive waist of money.

This figure is amazing to look at, though, and has plenty of articulation; including a hinged waist, jaw, abdomen joints & twin-ball "Bar-bell" neck joint - Exquisite paint applications and an absolutely extraordinary sculpt.:cool:
I absolutely adore this mutant-Gremlin as it was one of my favourite aspects of the movie; it's so photogenic and the amount of poses one can achieve is far broader than one might've otherwise expected, every where you look on this guy there's another little detail you didn't notice before - I highly recommend its purchase as you wont be disappointed. :D:cool:
(It IS heavily reliant on that stand however as the legs cannot support its weight, a pity it wasn't all clear/transparent :o)

NECA still have 4 Gremlin molds that they're yet to make available and the sad thing is they're apparently likely to never see release :( - If this is the case and their line of "Gremlins 2: The New Batch" figures are to come to an end?...

...what a way to head of into the sunset. ;)

Hehe, glad you dug those shots dude - They're some of my more recent favourites actually. :D

I do intend to replace the pair, if & when I can't afford to - Still really disappointed that they keep falling over and breaking because they can't support their own weight, Spider-Mohawk having a stand is an absolute blessing! ;)

Nice thread necro. Didn't know this thread existed. Some lovely pics here.

I've got the Ultimate Gizmo which is pretty good as I don't have any others.

If I get the new ultimate spike and gremlin I might have to get Gizmo too...because I have no self control. :D
