Courtesy of TFW2005.com (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/japanese-transformers-40/masterpiece-rodimus-convoy-second-release-in-september-172049/), via Kapow Toys (http://www.kapow-toys.com/), MP-09 Rodimus Prime will receive a second release in September of this year to coincide with the release of the new MP-10 Optimus Prime figure.

Informed speculation suggests that:

New parts are made to replace the weak spots, especially with the legs (panels and feet).
Overall quality is the same.

Any improvements I would imagine to be very welcomed, even if they are only aimed at the worst affected areas of note, will just have to wait and see though I guess. :)

wow. that just pisses me off. so no one should pre-order MP-10 and just wait for the 'fixed' 2nd release version.

Yeah, it's unfortunate, but companies do generally try to improve/advance things. That's life.

Great news :)

I just hope if anyone that does order a Rodimus online gets this 2nd release and not the dodgy 1st version :rolleyes:

no rust on mine yet squib, although it's early days. How long does it take for the rust to show?

Having had a bad experience with the quality and design of MP Megatron, there was no way I was going to buy MP Rodimus without reading a lot of positive reviews first. It turned out there was so much negativity I didn't touch it, and I wouldn't bite the bullet now until I knew for sure that the second version was a LOT better.

Toys at the cheaper price points (up to voyager) are far more likely to surprise and delight. The more expensive the toy, the greater the chance of disappointment.

Based on previous designs, and previous and current re-release patterns, it now seems to be sagely advice to always skip the first release of an MP.

Ahh.. the double edged sword of the preorder. Often an item is cheaper before it is released or even sold out but occasionally crap happens.

Well, it's still only rumor that the next release contains fixes. It might just have mold degradation. :D

Hopefully it does - I was so so close to giving in and buying Roddy.

Generally the justification for a second release is demand isn't it? There's still plenty of first releases floating around...so that icing on the cake must be deliciously real :p Bring on the new and improved Roddy for me to buy!

edit BTW I misread your post Hurst. Do not attempt to highlight my foolishness, or Rodimus will not be pleased

Whew, glad I got mine free.:p

But yeah they really should fix those panel locks on this figure. It's really not a toypiece, more of, posing and display piece coz the panels dont lock up properly and it'll break or come undone when fiddled with. The Spoiler needs a bit of improvement, and the legs ratchet in odd positions you can't pose the figure that well. And those hands , they cant even hold his guns :(... for an MP it sure isn't a Masterpiece.

If the 2nd release comes out with real improvements and some 3rd party replicates the improved parts and sells them as a kit, I will buy them.
