Huge thanks to TRU Australia, who've been really great with Transformers information, pictures and special offers for us Aussie fans lately - Here is
our first look at Hasbro's Masterpiece Rodimus (with Offshoot) in packaging. As mentioned three weeks ago (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=10962) (as a world first), this still has a
July release, and should be priced similar to a Leader class figure.

That is very nice - it's just a shame it comes without the trailer. I wonder to what extent they've fixed the mould.

I guess for anyone looking for toy accuracy it would suit?

Damn, they changed a lot more than i thought they would.
I was just expecting the Magenta to be more Maroon.
Instead, i see that plus:
New flames, headlights
No orange on arms
Toy-accurate red legs which i don't like, but the tampo is pretty cool
Greyer-face & hands
Many paint apps on rifle
Overall i prefer the Takara one, though this is nice too; if it does have the mold improvements i may pick him up, especially with the bonus fig to entice me!

The little guy in the packaging? :p:D
I've honestly never heard the name either, so I'm guessing they couldn't use the original Targetmaster's name: Firebolt? :o

I guess you might be correct in that Hursty... someone must've gotten the royalties and TM for Firebolt coz that certasinly looks to me a targetmaster partner. Offshoot (the name) was used in Energon series for one of the members of the Omnicons.... guess they couldnt find a newer name or they wanted to secure TM to the name so prolly why they used it instead.
Wonder if they fixed the problem of him not able to hold his weapons......

Has there been any confirmation on price yet (apart from what Krayt was told at the DOTM event)?

Loving the gun details.... There was nothing to break up the Japanese gun, so a tiny bit of paint will make me happy.
Interesting changes to colour, damn i wish we had pics of the back of the box to see carmode

Agreed, I think it's Awesome that TRU is feeding us this info, just wish it was the new takara MP09 2.0 version, that's the one I'm super keen for.

do not like red legs...
I rather show accuracy then a homage to the g1 toy.
also whats up with the grey hands and face

He looks amazing and especially enticing for MISB collectors. I think Hasbro have really outdone themselves this time by giving us a significantly different product with a few easter eggs, rather than the watered down arguably crappier versions we are used to.
I on the other hand, will probably still grab the V2 Takara release over this guy because I don't own the mould yet and really want the trailer.

This one is so much better than the Takara version IMO. I wasn't interested before; I think I may be convinced to buy him if I see him on the store shelves. Glad I waited :D

Hmm.... price of a Leader aye?
I'm very tempted to grab one when it's released, despite no previous interest in MP Rodimus.
Offshoot intrigues me.

Oz Rod! Good to see we're leading the charge again on a new toy unveiling.
Can't help but get a "FansProject" vibe from Offshoot's design though. :(

So... it's Rodimus Prime without his trailer?! That's a shame. I'll just use it as Hot Rod I guess.

I think the idea is that you use this toy with the japanese trailer for RP, while the robot of the japanese release is better suited as Hot Rod.
Did anyone else notice on the original release, the front of the space winnebago isn't matched to the magenta of the car mode? It'll match to this red much better i think, i think it was intentional.

:)Already have the Japanese MP who I class as Rodimus Prime so I'll be buying this one as Hot Rod:D

Orangey red > Magenta? Targetmaster partner? Not going to cost an arm and a leg?

I far prefer the Japanese one I prefer the movie accuracy, it seems like the gun has too much paint aps too.
However if they fixed some of the toys issues then I might just get it.

Tempted just for the targetmaster. I could keep one as Hotrod and one as Rodimus I guess. Depends on the cost.

+1 to what sharkymcshark said. :)
I love the more toy-accurate colours. :D I've seen and handled liegeprime's MP Rodimus Convoy's trailer, and it's basically just an upsized version of the G1 toy's trailer really... not worth paying extra for IMO.
It seems that Hasbro has lost the rights to the name Firebolt, which is a shame... they should've gone with Firebolt's alternate name in G1, Sparks - but maybe they were unable to secure the rights to that name too. Ah well, at least Offshoot is spelt correctly (do not want another Grappel debacle)... although "Fireblot" would've sounded hilarious. ;) (not sure if Blot would appreciate the humour though :p)

Very cool! It's almost tempting to get this and keep it as hot Rod, and then the MP version to use as Rodimu; adding the color changes helps it feel like some actual changes were made when the Matrix aged him :)

If it has all the design/QC problems of the Takara original, then no thank you.
If those have been fixed for the Hasbro release, then yes please.

It's possible they couldn't use Firebolt as it's a broomstick from Harry Potter so there may have been trademark legalities. That aside... if he's less then $100 (leader class price) then I might pick him up. If TRU do a "MP Ghost Starscream" I'll enjoy looking at him shelf warming for the next couple of years.

Keep you're optics peeled, he has been sighted at Toys R Us in Canada (http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-news-rumors/437702-toys-r-us-exclusive-masterpiece-rodimus-prime-released-canadian-retail.html), so surely he will be here soon. (considering it is nearly the end of July :p)

Unlikely, I think it is a Toys R Us exclusive. Doesn't leave you with many options to be able to get one, could get someone to grab one for you and ship it to you, or meet up with them later. Other option is online really.

Using RK's price vs our TRU price for MP Grimlock, I would estimate AU$100 (fingers crossed)
However doing the same estimation but based on the more recent MP Ghost Starscream: AU$150.:p:rolleyes:

this still has a July release, and should be priced similar to a Leader class figure.

After watching that video, the Hasbro version seems just as screwed up as the Takara one.
- Back still can't clip.
- Shin panels are still loose.
- Hands are still screwed up and can barely hold weapons (if at all).
- Chest does not appear to properly lock in place and flips up when arms are moved.
The only positive difference appears to be that the ratcheting joints are softer which would make the figure much easier to transform.
And of course, the Targetmaster which is pretty nifty but I can't say that he is worth buying another MP Rodimus for unless it's cheap.

I think I'm just gonna wait for the Takara "fixed" V2 due out later this year!
