Thanks to an email from JayJays, we have info on two new competitions from them, and heaps more Transformers clothing in stores soon.

The new product line should start to hit stores by the end of next week.

The first competition is on their Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/jayjays), called 'money can't buy' prizes, with TF3 ipod projectors (and maybe some other prizes later, but
keep checking their Facebook page for updates).

They are also doing a window/in-store promo as well starting 22nd June.
Major prize - you and 10 friends to see DotM at a Gold Class theatre.
3 Runner up prizes - a set of 3 of the DotM Coins from Perth Mint.
25 Minor prizes - a copy of the DotM game on preferred format between Xbox and PS3.

To enter - in 25 words or less, which Transformer would you want to have save you if the world was attacked. Entries close July 3rd.

The hoodies will be at select stores, and all should be available online.

The T-shirts should be everywhere.
The black t-shirt on the top right hand corner has a 3D lenticular print that changes from an Autobot to a Decepticon .

How about some apparel featuring other movie cast. I'm sick of Optimus and Bumblebee shirts. Get us some Wreckers gear.

They are limited by what images Hasbro gives them to use. (which is why we don't see much licensed material aimed at committed fans - images from hasbro are very mainstream)

Not much appeal for me to buy any of that stuff. But still cool that there is more stuff coming out anyway.

As griffin said, it's not Jayjay's fault. I wish Hasbro would be more liberal with what characters they allow to their licensees... everything they allow is just so... Gee Wun... (-_-) But I guess Hasbro is appealing to the lowest common denominator (i.e. the general public) and not necessarily toward fans.

But Jayjays has been pretty cool with fans. Their T-shirt with Devastator and the caption "Prepare for Extermination!" was made based on a suggestion from Paulbot. :)

But most of this stuff is sold to normal people, and Optimus Prime and Bumblebee are who they recognise and like. Normal people genuinely like Bumblebee.

No offence intended, but saying the Transformers, a mass appeal, children's toy and blockbuster film franchise is pandering to public (and referring to them as "the lowest common denominator") is a bit too negative and makes you sound elitist, I think.

FFN: Hey, I can't help it if non-TFers are Primusless heathens. :p :p ;) Anyway, I didn't mean to say that appealing to Joe Public was necessarily a good or bad thing. Merely pointing out that this is why licensed apparel are all rooted in Gee Wun (or 'early G1' if you prefer). Having said that, I think there's surely a lot more early G1 characters that Hasbro could be allowing licensees to use that would appeal to the general public... like say Ratchet, Ironhide, Mirage, Wheeljack, Skywarp, Thundercracker, Laserbeak, Rumble, Frenzy, Cliffjumper -- these are all characters from the first year of Transformers that Hasbro could draw from. And there are plenty more from the 2nd and 3rd years that I think would hold general public appeal (e.g. Jetfire, the Triple Changers, Time Warrior, Superion, Menasor, Defensor, Bruticus, Shockwave, Drift, Insecticons etc.)

Even with the Wreckers... Joe Average may not recognise the Jumpstarters, but they'd surely recognise Inferno, Springer and other members who appeared in the G1 cartoon. I'm not saying that we should have a shirt with Roadbuster on his lonesome sitting there, but I'm sure in a group with all the other Wreckers it could work.

Hey, do you think if I printed off my own shirt with this image on it...

...and wear it around, any non TF-fans would get it? :p ;) </rhetorical.question>

@ Gok: Time Warrior???? seriously???? you just had to include that one..:p:p

Well I like that Jayjays are coming up with more TF gear, just wish theyd come out with more than just hoodies and shirts... missed out on the shorts before, mebbe bring back more of em TF undies:D:D... but please no belt buckles, that's so overused by the KOers already. prolly winter gear - beanie caps gloves scarves, that sorta thing:)

Oh right, so you'll notice that I included Time Warrior in my classic G1 lineup, but not a word about my other more dubious inclusion!! At least Time Warrior actually _came_ from G1 and ain't no wannabe poser! :p :p

"Hey, who the frag are you?!"
"Just act like I've been here the whole time and everything will be cool, old timer."

I was actually referring to the movie wreckers since this lot of clothing appears to have somewhat of a movie focus about it.

Well at least the wannabe poser has an affordable articulated toy and not a LCD watch with no exciting alt mode:p... Id prefer the toy than a freakin mail order watch now if it was Kaltor, that would be another story...

Yup:D. Simply put I prefer a robot than a watch for a toy ( a watch aint a toy:p). Between a calculator (with a robot mode) and a watch with an open face as almode(?!?) I go for the Calculator;)... couldnt care less for the toy characterization:p:p but I do agree with what Gok said that there a whole slew of characters Hasbro has in their vault of TF lore just waiting for recognition ( and more use in other media forms - shirts etc) given enough exposure these would stand out as iconic characters themselves instead of rehashing worn out ( although time proven) "famous" characters....

There's enough Beast wars followers as well so dunno why those characters havent been explored or given licensing freedom by Hasbro. Id buy a Waspinator shirt heheheh. Guess we'll never know as Hasbro doesnt divulge such info anyways.

Unsubstantiated fantasy! Lies! LIES!! You will respect the Time Warrior, this I command!

*ahem* Anyway, one would imagine that the children who grew up with Beast Wars would be young upcoming adults now with disposable income in their hands (unlike us old farts who grew up with G1 and have mortgages, families etc. that financially drains us!).

To be honest I don't know why the Takara Kronoform Watch-Robo, that actually had a Bot mode, wasn't used for Time-Warrior?

I would fully support this 100% - some official Beast Wars Clothing, in Men's sizes and not just Mal-nourished Teen sizing, would be thoroughly awesome! :D:cool:

I guess they think the malnourished people will buy clothes instead of food :p;):D is why they're malnourished:p:p... or they might just need deworming , eeeewww!

Yes they do, I looked at the prices, and well, just wait for sales instead. Plus online selling of those shirts kinda limits the buyer. I prefer to buy my clothing where I can fit them and see if it fits me aesthetically as well as biometrically:D. Ive made mistakes in sizing too often with online buying of clothing.

i'm also underwhelmed by these shirts this time round. but if there is other clothing, winter styles like suggested, that'd be cool.

According to one of the presentation panels by the Convention/Club organisers, Hasbro is currently keeping Beast era/themes out at the moment, possibly to give it some time out of the spotlight (so if they are intending to revisit a Beast theme in the near future, it will be better received as 'new' and 'different').
It was also mentioned that because the two Fan-voted inductees to the Hall of Fame were Beast Wars characters, the people at Hasbro are paying attention to the interests of the fans on that. So maybe something sooner rather than later, perhaps. (I haven't seen the episode yet, but wouldn't Blackarachnia in TF:Prime count as a nod to Beast Wars, like it was in Animated?)

But I do want the Autobot Logo Hoodie! :p

That's some intriguing and rather sensible insight Griffin, though it's just raised my anticipation level to 'Drool'. :o:p

Blackarachnia=Airachnid in TF: Prime dude, but yeah - I'd agree that she is certainly a tip of the hat to the Beast-era. ;)
