BigW Optimus Prime Display shelving

saw the prime truck display at big w today..... well some of it... they have just the trailer set up

Made a copy of this to here, as people are going to see these over the next month or two and be amazed.

Apparently the 'trailer' has a cardboard truck attachment as well, but I guess some stores (like above) may not set it up if they don't have the room for it.

(I'll thinking of asking my nearest BigW if I can get it once they're done with it)

My local Big W was putting theirs out last night while I was there. They already had the cab out. All joined together, this thing is huge! As much as I'd want one in my house, there's no way I'd have the room.

They have this truck overseas too. Just saw it in a toy store in Zurich. (Btw Switzerland's prices are the same as back home in Francs, so once you throw in conversion they are quite pricey)

Is there any interest in these by members here?

If so, try to get on to your nearest stores as they are already being snapped up by people.
I tried 5 stores nearest to me:

Garden City - already reserved.
Calamvale - I left my name and number.
Underwood - said they weren't allowed to give it out (had to destroy it)
Browns Plains - said they had to return it (which wouldn't be true as all other stores said they would be destroyed)
Carindale - I left my name and number as a backup to the Calamvale one.

So if there is a bit of demand for these and you are being told that they can't give it out, or have to destroy them, post here and I can see if getting onto BigW Head-office before the 12th can tell the stores to give them out. After all, it saves them rubbish, and could go somewhere that deserves it.

But be aware that the sale ends in a week, so there isn't much time to be chasing up Head-office if people are wanting these.

Guys, try ringing around some of the stores first near you today or tomorrow, that you can get to easily (the ones I reserved told me that they would ring me up and I would need to come that day to get it). This idea of mine would only help if you find a store that won't let you reserve it. If they are happy to give it away, then get in before someone else does.

I don't want to get anyone's hopes up, but my thinking was that if there are stores that are planning to destroy them, or think that they have to, I was wanting to see if the Head Office could send a memo to the store managers before the end of the sale, to allow members here to pick them up instead. And if that were to happen, then we could maybe list up the stores that still have theirs available.
(I'm kinda hoping though, that there wasn't a 'destroy only' policy in place, and me talking to Head office has them reminding stores to not give them out...)

I've sent a query through to BigW about it, as their customer service phone number wasn't any help.
Maybe Karnivalprime can shed some light on if these displays are supposed to be destroyed, or if its up to stores to offload them at their discretion.

As far as I know, they just get thrown out so just ask the manager if you can have it when the promotion is finished.

Note, they do not flat pack and come on the pallet so it will be hard to get home

I scoped out the Blacktown store about theirs, and they already have a waiting list. I was thinking of getting a carpenter buddy of mine to make the truck portion into a toybox, it would have looked great in my classroom! :p

Penrith store said they had a waiting list too, and as yet have not tried the Plumpton store, or Rouse Hill, I found it easier to ask in person, calling the stores gets you nowhere.

Two of the five stores I tried told me that they either couldn't give them out or they were being destroyed... bastards just want to keep it for themselves. :p

As for them not being flat-packed... hmmm, sounds like a challenge then. I might have to cut it up myself and re-tape it together at home.
This might put off some people though.

Iwould strap it on the back of a ute or trailer if it can't be flat packed. The one in Ballarat could be flown home... It's got plenty of jetwings on top of it's roof

Official word back from BigW Head-office, is that it is a general rule to not give out store displays to customers, but it is up to the discretion of the store managers.
