I really want this guy but I don't have money for him. Sucks.
wish he wasn't so darn expensive.

I'm in the very same boat dude, at that price though I don't think he's going to move all to quickly so I'm holding out for a more geographically close Seller to offer him at a slightly lower postage rate. :o

Thanks for the explanation of 3p. Has it come to this were we are abbreviating "3rd party"?
Doesn't make to much sense to me.

Rest assured your not alone in your feelings towards it dude, but yes it would seem it has come to that - well, not for all of us at least. ;)

I kind of wish this was broken up into 5 bots. Would have made it easier for a lot of people.

I prefer it as a gift set. I'm sick of getting dribble fed toys with delay after delay after delay after delay

Is there any way we can bulk order and save from dosh? I will be getting him at some point for sure.

I really wish these 3rd party figures weren't so darn expensive. I love my Superion...
I guess Ill have to wait, save, and buy him at premium! :(

To me its the postage that is the killer. I don't mind paying the $400 but then to pay $50-$60 in postage is ridiculous.

Can anyone tell me how much Trash talk and Cogwheel pack costed when it first released? Was it about the same price we're seeing these days? Coz 50 bux for one tiny bot is kinda out of question.

from memory $55 for the 2 when I got them

I just ordered him from ActionRobo - located in Hong Kong - postage was about $37USD - cheapest place for us Aussies that I could find:

That's probably the cheapest shipping rate you can find for another Green Giant sized box. I haven't ordered from them before - what's their shipping reputation like compared against RK, BBTS, Chimungmung? :)

I haven't ordered from them before either but I felt confortable ordering from them for this set because:
- MakeToys has them listed on their site as an official distributor of theirs (and only select stores are now)
- Many TFW2005 members have said they've ordered from them in the past and I didn't see any bad comments

I can't recommend Action Robo enough. Dealt with them twice and they have been superb. Great packaging and fast delivery. Every single item is individually bubble wrapped. A pain to open but you really appreciate the care they take.

It will be interesting. I have it on preorder at BBTS and by the time it drops into my PoL I should already have a few things in it so shipping might not be that bad for me.

Did you manage to get a worthwhile enough discount for a group buy?

Not sure if shipping can come down much for a big and bullky item the size of Green Giant's box. I would assume any discounts will come from the toy's price (if we're lucky 10-15% for a lot of 10? MakeToys seems to operate similarly to FP in terms of tight margins to their resellers).

Secured my pre-order with BBTS, but will probably go with ActionRobo if Chimungmung can't do any better.

A bit of a photo avalanche here:

Maketoys wins handsdown. This is a massive home run. Toy of the year for me. Computron was a childhood favourite and I always dreamed of a classics version but never would've imagined a version this awesome.

There's so much thought that's been put into these figures and aside from Nose Cone, it's a very smooth transformation as opposed to say FP's Menasor. Once you get your head around how all the figures work it's very easy to switch between modes and nowhere near as fiddly as FP's effort.

What impresses me is that each individual robot has AMAZING articulation and is completely different in form and play features yet Maketoys has pulled together a cohesive robot. MMCs Predaking looks amazing but unlike Computron its much easier to make a combiner from 5 beasts than 5 totally different vehicles. The engineering to make everything possible from the crossbow to the immaculate balance of the figure is wonderful.

Even the bottom of the feet have a bit of rubber to heap it stand better! That's the degree of thought put into this figure and I feel nothing but unadulterated affection for this figure.

Scattershot is a bit of a partsformer but I can see wh they did what they did. It would have been easy enough to make it a non-partsformer by connecting the crossbow part to the back permanently but instead they went the HARDER route and turn it into parts former. That's right. Harder route. Why? Because to make a crossbow that the figure could hold in combined mode and then also function as the cockpit of Scattorshot's jet mode is much harder. The design of that crossbow took lots of thought and went beyond being just a piece of back kibble to a play feature. That's not lazy partsforming, that's thoughtful partsforming.

I for one cannot wait for Guardia and will be picking up a few more spares of Quantron for sure. He's a gorgeous toy and not just in pictures. Once you play with it and get the details, you are just amazed by the incredible thought put into this.

New Maketoys App is available. It isn't much more than an images catalogue but at least I won't have to search for catalogue pdfs. I couldn't find transformation instructions, either as images or videos but I'm sure they'll implement them as promised.

Cant wait for Ironwill and Hellfire, I'm loving wrestle and cupola. Maketoys remastered is goig to be my fav line if they keep it up with plan for targetmasters (contact shot/pointblank in the image 2 posts above, as well as a silhouette of reticle/crosshairs), and silhouettes of Hydra/Buster (Dreadwind/Darkwing). Man if they pull off the powermaster and combined jet I'll be in love. Love the Japanese/anime'ish look of contact shot, reminds me of a Brave bot.

Will be keeping an eye on Despotron, still havent transformed apollyon so if MT's offering is easier to handle I'd look at replacing apollyon. I think their not-starscream is a bit of an odd move considering all the mp starscreams we've had so far.

So i've spent 2 hours trying to transform Sonic Drill into alt mode and im almost ready to give up. Things just dont sit in place properly because there are so many moving parts so im assuming they have to be in precise position. Some pegs dont hold properly and the joints are loose. Overall the transformation is just stupidly complex all for an ok looking alt and bot mode.

The bots are beautifully detailed and for the most part they look great. I'm still blown away by the engineering. It's amazing that someone had to design this but the transformation just isnt fun.

I'm gonna power through this get him into combined mode and will probably never touch him again.

If there is a difference between TT and 3rd party which ive noticed so far is TT have an elegance to most of it's transformations. Things fit like they're supposed to and there's no guess work with how parts have to be positioned.

Hopefully Guardia is better.

spiderken17
17th August 2016, 10:03 PM
I agree. I had a lot of trouble getting Sonic Drill to tab in in places. I have not transformed the 4 members of Guardia I have due to time constraints at the moment but, like you, am hoping for easier transformations.

Smint

So now that my fingers have stopped hurting here are my thoughts.

Beautiful combined mode. Nicely detailed, nice aesthetics and nice tight joints which lets him hold his heavy crossbow with some balancing.

Sonic Drills sucks so bad. Celeratis' arm transformation is stupid. Knee combiner port could have used the springs that the arm ports have because its slightly easy for the legs to slide out.

Worth 400+ i paid for him? Havent decided but i may never transform him ever again.

QC issues:
1. Right arm combiner joint is on backwards. Doesnt affected functionality but the screw is facing forwards and it looks like its stripped...
2. Looks like they they put the pin in the wrong way on Blindfire where the piston is supposed to fit into in arm mode because the holes are on the other side.
3. Sonic Drill.

Looking forward to Guardia.

Sonic Drill was difficult to transform yes, but I can't agree with your comments. I picked him up about 6 months ago and while it took a while, as long as you understand the basic principle of his transformation then it's not that bad. Those flood lights are a massive pain to get on and off though.

If you're never going to transform Quantron again then I'd definitely question his value to you. Essentially you've just paid $400+ for a fancy action master. Personally I love Quantron. Especially Blindfire. Such a great little figure.

You're probably right. I dont enjoy transforming him at all.

Yeah blindfire is great no doubt. The long sharp lines on him really accentuates the dynamic poses he can do.

Cant get over how sucky Sonic Drill is though. The other limbs look great but i look at SD and think what is this? Basically a bunch of kibble stuck together. I went through this complex transformation for an alt/bot mode that im not happy with.

He's in combined mode now standing on on my desk and after looking at it with fresh eyes i just see how good his proportions are. He looks really good.

Combined mode just redeems him for me.

Yeah I agree, there was a challenge involved but once you understand it, he transforms fairly straight forward from one mode to the next. I have transformed mine a few times already.
