Nothing new on the MOTUC figure front just yet, but we have a new line, a vehicle and some pics of She-Ra 2.0 to get started!

WOOF! I am happy with a number of those photos :D

That She-Ra 2.0 looks pretty good as well. I wonder if they will apply that sort of design towards the He-Man figure in the future? Stinkor? ;)

Some of these announcements weren't what i would say i was hoping for, but they look awesome, so i'm excited.
Only the Star Sisters and maybe Snout Spout, Thunder Punch He-Man are possible skips right now, and that's mostly because there'll be too much to buy per month as it is!

Amazing! That showing has sure rejuvenated my enthusiasm for MOTUC. Just about all those figures are pure win!

I am also very happy that they are not '1:1 vintage accurate' head sculpts. I was really afraid for Kobrah Khan as he also had a goofy vintage face but the MOTUC toy shown looks ridiculously awesome.

I was also afraid for Snoutspout but they appear to have modernized him enough to look appropriate and not as goofy like the vintage toy but I do need better pics to confirm.

Win all around.

On the down side:

I really hope they change their minds on Shadow Weaver, as excited as I am for this figure, I will not be taking a subscription just for it.

In regards to the Mini-Comics: Awesome idea but given Toyguru's 'fan fiction' they are likely to suck.

Whats the deal with the subscription stuff? I would reallt like that Shadow weaver as well, but a lot of the other figures aren't so important for me.

That new Evil Lyn is so awesome! Bubble Power She-Ra - Eh?

No Stinkor...

And these min-comics, are they going to be included with the figure or seperate? I miss lame ass comics in toys. Although now that I think of it, the ones in Heman weren't too bad.

Been reading and looking at pics all morning! :D I'm really loving all this MOTUC stuff - pretty much everything will be bought, except for the She-Ra figures, which don't interest me.

The comics idea is... um, not what I expected! Since when is TG a writer?

And what's this new "deal" (between Mattel and Filmation) that everyone keeps mentioning? I can't find any solid info anywhere...

For those that haven't found them, toyark has more pics now - Swiftwind (http://www.toyark.com/news/san-diego-comic-con-58/sdcc-2011-she-ra-swift-wind-photos-4504/) + Everything Else (http://www.toyark.com/news/san-diego-comic-con-58/masters-of-the-universe-classics-2012-4511/)

Kobra Kahn is a massive improvement! But, Snout Spout to me looks almost identical to the vintage - just a few more details and refined proportions. I think it was mostly the body of the original one making it goofy looking? The angled eyebrows on the new version also make him look less dopey. Here's a comparison

Subscribing ensures you get all the subscription figures for the year (which is just a subset of all the figures that'll be released), as well as the bonus figure and other small things like sticker sheets

Apparantly they're gonna be included with quarterly variant figures (like Battle Armor etc) so one every 3 months starting with Thunder Punch He-Man.

I would feel the exact same way, but Toyguru's not actually writing the comics, Tim Seeley is. Toyguru is an illiterate moron. Tim Seeley is the experienced toy-property writer of G.I. Joe and Joe/T.F. Comics and genius behind Colt Noble And The Megalords (http://nerdcityonline.com/2009/10/26/exclusive-tim-seeleys-colt-noble-and-the-megalords-full-44-page-issue1/). He knows MOTU well and should be able to make a good script from whatever ToyGonad throws at him.

Having Toyguru's name credited for the story still feels me with a lot of doubt even if Seeley is actually doing the script.

Toyguru has proven to be a 'his way or the highway' sort of guy so I seriously doubt Tim Seeley to have much freedom to write specially when dealing with Toyguru's already F'up 'universe'.

I agree, he is very toy accurate but much of the goofiness is now gone due to those subtle changes you mentioned including a more proportionate head to body ratio. Those subtle things do make a big difference and the figure does look much better.

But why does he have clamp Champ's weapon?

kurdt_the_goat
23rd July 2011, 11:34 PM
Well it certainly bodes well for a future Clamp Champ release - maybe they thought that Snout Spout (being in the rescuing business) could do with some jaws of life!

Once again I've been sucked into a subscription. Of the reveals though, I'm most impressed by Demo-Man and his Alcala Skeletor head. Yum.

So.. You pay 20 bucks for the subscription and then they automatically send you the various figures. Hmm, Can they be combined with the other figure that is released that month? Considering how each time I have ordered, I have had to wait a month, I don't mind waiting 5 days if the send my Sorceress out with some other guy.

Can you opt out of figures? I care not for Fisto or the Star Sisters (whoever they are). I do want that blasted shadow weaver though!!

From what I have read, they sent stuff individually so you can't group them.

No you can't opt out of figures, they automatically charge your credit card for each one.

For an international customer, I don't think it's worth it. You loose out on money with individual shipping and you would't receive it before others as International shipping takes so long.

Certainly. As much as I love MOTUC I couldn't possibly Afford EVERY SINGLE TOY they release, i'd rather get what I can from Ebay when I have the cash for it.

That said, every reveal looks pretty sweet. And Shadow Weaver!! I've waited 25 years for a Shadow Weaver toy!

That's what everyone is peed off about. It was a very jerky move to put her up as a subscription only figure. They probably did that due to all the threats from people saying that they wouldn't get a subscription for next year due the recent streak sub-par announcements and ever decreasing QC.

Tetsuwan Convoy
24th July 2011, 12:02 PM
Bah! That sucks. What's the point. Only the real major die-hard fans would bother going for the subscription then.

I would be more inclined to go for it (and still pay the $20) if they just offered a list of what was coming out before they were on sale and gave the chance to order before the rush.

Might as well take my chance on ebay for Shadow Weaver hey? I would assume they will eventually release her in the normal line, mainly due to the potential $$ in it. Probably have to wait a couple of years.

How many years has the subscription been going for and has this happend with other characters? Preternia He-man doesn't really do it for me...

They won't - everyone has the opportunity to buy a subscription to get Shadow Weaver or buy one on eBay, but as stated in the contract "The only way to purchase the club-exclusive figure and map poster through Mattel is to buy a membership to Club Eternia! These items will not be sold separately on MattyCollector.com."Shadow Weaver, Wun-Dar and Preternia He-Man will never be re-released - they're the incentive to get a subscription. If they reneged on that, people would stop buying subscriptions.

kup
24th July 2011, 04:23 PM
I agree with Sky Shadow, they won't unless sell Shadow Weaver by herself although they may release some sort of variant later on (Battleground Shadow weaver?). It's a way to con you into the subscription and it is effective so they have more to loose than to gain by re-releasing the same figure by itself.

I will try my luck on ebay, chances are that it will cost an arm and a leg though.

Yeh, but probably less than the $430 total cost for the subscription hey?

Not much of an incentive that subscription at all really. Pah! That sucks, otherwise I would have been keen.
