As you guys may have noticed - I've recently gotten into photography and have been posting quite a few pics in the "Toy Photography - From Transformers to Non-Transformers" thread (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=10100).
I've decided to create my own thread and have it as a creative outlet where I can upload and group all my pics together.
I'm not going to re-post all the pics here, but if you want to have a look at them one by one, please feel free to have a look at each post here. (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/search.php?searchid=493883&pp=25)
Hopefully you can see improvements as I've progressed along with more practice and playing with the correct light/camera settings.
Please note that I do not use photoshop or any photo editing software on my pics whatsoever - I refuse to do so since IMHO, it's cheating.
A good photographer will push the boundaries of what his camera can do and this is what I strive to be - so I present them to you in their most pure, un-retouched glory.
Anyways, here are some of my favorite pics:

Thanks mate. :)
In terms of great photos, you will find that it's not just the camera/lens combination, but also many other factors such as lighting, aperture, shutter speed, etc.
But to answer your question, the camera I use is the Canon EOS 550D.
For toy pics, I alternate the lenses from either of the following:
Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8
Tamron SP 60mm f/2 Di II Macro
Lately I've moved away from the EF-S 18-55mm since it's just not as sharp or as fast as the other two.
Feel free to ask for advice on cameras in this thread (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=11757). :)

And I'll re-post these ones here since they're a good example (according to jena (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/member.php?u=1620) who teaches photography - even though they're not the sharpest pics) of what you can do with the various settings on a DSLR:
Aperture Priority

Shutter Priority

If it was a '67 Mustang, I'd half consider it, but it never hurts to ask I guess. :p

I find the descriptions Aperture Priority and Shutter Priority so confusing!
To me, the 2 pics you posted should be labelled:
All in focus shot - Small aperture (slow shutter speed)
Starscream in focus shot - Large aperture (fast shutter speed)
They really didn't want to make this topic easy to understand, considering the "large" aperture might be f/5.6 whereas the "small" aperture might be f/32!
You take great photos though :)

I labelled the pics as such in reference to the modes on the camera (AV and TV = Aperture and Shutter Priority) - which is how they teach you to distinguish between the two in basic photography classes. :p
Here's the metadata for the pics if anyone cares :p
Aperture Priority:
60mm
f/22
3.22
ISO 800
Shutter Priority:
60mm
f/2
1/40
ISO 800
