Just got word back from Hasbro Australia...
Bad news if you don't have Foxtel.
There will be a sneak peak on Cartoon Network before Christmas, then it will go on air early 2012.
So even with all the extra digital channels, it is still difficult to get new cartoons on free-to-air.
Beast Machines was only on PayTV as well, and we saw how much those toys shelf-warmed with no mainstream marketing (on free-to-air).

Given CN's history with transformer shows in Australia will it actually be at a decent time I hope

ABC 3 do a great job with new cartoon series. With them screening a lot more shows now, did think perhaps they'd get it...

I thought the free-to-air channels were obliged to show a certain number of hours of children programming per day. Surely one of the channels could pick this up??!

oh wow! i had no idea.
though our house has foxtel and i usually flick straight to the movie channel to switch off so i do tend to miss a lot of good stuff.

Yeh, they probably will, about a year after we ahve all grown bored of it.
Pay TV isn't worth buying IMO, so will have to find other ways.

in the 90s CN was just 24 hours of Scooby doo. now its 24 hours of Ben 10 and Johnny Test :(
I'd rather have prime on ABC3

Hopefully after episodes air on Fox ABC3 will get the series, much better them than 9.
Still very silly that there is such a delay (a year) between a US and an AU release. Guess it makes more sense with the toyline schedule though...

good thing Ive wacthed it all on Youtube :P. Sigh , but this only means poor publicity for the toys as not everyone has Foxtel... wonder what other channels will take it, although the normal channels chop up a whole lot ofthe toons just look what they did when airing TF: animated... :(:(

Well, I'm both surprised and not surprised.
Surprised that Hasbro got back to us on the subject, not surprised by the fact that it is to be a PayTV only show and as Griffin mentions; Beast Machines suffered the same fate.
Thanks for putting the question through to Hasbro AU Griffin :), I must say though that this has given me yet another reason not to watch Australian Television.

A year between the US getting it and us getting it? Why am I not surprised? This happens for so many tv shows. Futurama season 5 is out on dvd in the states already (I know because I found it a local dvd store imported) yet we haven't even seen it on tv here yet. And they wonder why so many people download these things...

They have been playing Futurama on free to air, and are only 2 weeks behind the current U.S. schedule.
The 4 'movies' that made up season 5 were shown as well.

What channel are they showing the new episodes on? That's the first I've heard about them. Spose it doesn't really matter for me if I have access to them in other ways lol :p

I think you'll find it's Channel 11 (Ten Network) that airs them now, not that it matters for the very reasons you elude to. ;):D

Mind you they have repeated these shows at least a minimum of 3 times now.....
