Cheers for the heads up Arcee, hopefully this'll mean that we'll only be getting the 2-Disc versions and not that crap they produce with just the movie. ;)
(That's the only positive I can see out of this typical delay :o)

time to import then

Haha, nice way to encourage imports and piracy. I'm not desperate, I can wait until then, but rest assured, they WILL lose sales from people importing and downloading torrents. In this time of technology, having a 2-3 month gap in release dates is like intentionally dropping the soap in prison with a bullseye on ur butt.

This is the single greatest analogy to the situation of copyright infringement I've ever heard! :p:D

We better be getting another Transforming 2-disc set. I've got optimus and Bumblebee already, I don't want to have another Iron Man style discrepancy on my hands.

TV ads for this tonight. Get it at Kmart it said (goes with Kmart stores sticking 'out on DVD' stickers on all their DOTM toys).
A review in the newspaper today says "Diehards will be disappointed with the glaring lack of extras".

Yeah, a week or so ago I asked JB Hi Fi and they said that the DVD doesn't come with any extras. :(

Ok, To clear things up, Nelson from Michael Bay.com has said there will be three editions of Dark of the Moon released:
The first is just the movie. (Nov 10)
The second is the 2-disc Special Edition set.
And the 3rd is the trilogy (6 disc) in a special metal encasement. There might be different versions of this across the globe. (December)
That box in the form of the Autobot logo is one of the early concepts for the the international trilogy. (December)
So to clarify, the release in 4 days will be the bare bones dvd and blu ray. Hold out for a few weeks and we'll get the good stuff in abundance!!
Hope this helps...

So is the two disc version due out on the 10th as well or just some random time down the track? I thought there was a 3D Bluray as well?

This whole thing makes no sense to me. Paramount probably think they are being clever releasing a 'bare-bones' version first and then people feel compelled to buy the special edition just for the extra content. This is just going to have the opposite effect and drive people to online torrent sites if they haven't already, especially considering this movie has already been out for over a month in other countries.
Don't get me wrong, like most people here I'll buy my transforming case to fit with the first two movies, I just can't wrap my head around their reasoning for the above.

According to the Sanity website (http://www.sanity.com.au/products/2203319/Transformers_3_Dark_Of_The_Moon), the 3D version doesn't have a release date yet, but is sometime in 2012. The other two versions (regular DVD & Bluray) are being released November 10th.
It also lists some comparison prices for those wondering what each version may be on their release date.
Regular DVD - $25
Bluray triplepack (includes regular DVD & downloadable copy) - $30 (an extra $5 gets you the bluray and a digital copy)
3D Bluray - $40
I was going to email Paramount Australia for more info, but their website lacks any contact details outside of a postal address.

Just got an SMS from JB Hi Fi. My DOTM DVD is in. I'll ask if there's a special features one coming out later ... I'd rather hold off and get that.

From s4te: (http://www.shootfortheedit.com/forum/showthread.php?10133-Transformers-3D-blu-ray)
blu-ray.com has an American release date of Dec. 6th for the 3D release - http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Transformers-Dark-of-the-Moon-3D-Blu-ray/26038/
Hopefully this means the Australian release won't be too far behind.

[URL="http://www.sanity.com.au/products/2203319/Transformers_3_Dark_Of_The_Moon"]...I was going to email Paramount Australia for more info, but their website lacks any contact details outside of a postal address.
I spoke with the Paramount distribution coordinator at a Target function, where they were outlining releases for Christmas and early January. There was only mention of the single disc DVD.
The reasons given where that, though they try to get as many special features as they can on the DVD releases, they are limited by
1 - what they can fit on a DVD (much more storage space on a Bluray than even 2 DVDs)
2 - what they are told they can have be the film's producers and development company
In the case of DotM, it appears that higher ups prevented them from adding any special features the DVD, although they would have liked to do so.
Sorry to bear the bad news.

So... when are we supposed to be getting the Transforming case version? In the absence of special features, that's the only way Paramount is going to get my hard earned cash.

They are charging $40 for a case??? The single disc BDs are only $15 each, with the 3D edition of the 3rd movie available for as low as $40. Add to the fact they are all regular editions and this case is a massive fail.

Hmmm.... still no mention of extra features in that set either. (but a 4-disc TF3 Bluray release is new I think, so maybe extras in that).

Well sounds more like they have dedicated a disc to each movie. The Blu-ray came with 2D movie, DVD version and a 3rd disc which stated it was the DVD version and the Digital

Just a fun fact, the Kmart store I work at has sold out of DOTM DVDs and on the 9th we had an entire DVD row end dedicated to it so we had a lot of copies in stock. Pretty crazy!

That is pretty crazy, clearly the movie was/is a major hit with the kids; which puts a smile on my face, both for the fact that even more kids love TFs now but also because we collectors complain about the lack of a Special Features Disc - how very fitting. :D

I think a major selling point for Kmart has been the price, a brand spanking new release for only $18. I got Harry Potter today for the same crazy price. Customers have been getting so excited about the price of DOTM. I've smiled every time a kid spotted them and had a little freak out, nagging their mum or dad to buy it. More kids have been getting stoked for Transformers than Cars 2 and DOTM has been selling far better than Cars 2. A man got so excited on the weekend that he was fist pumping and shouting about it. Something tells me he was drunk but he was a TF fan so he was all good in my book.

This is excellent news indeed!
I'm not overly surprised that Cars 2 is failing though; there's a reason why it's Pixar's worst performing franchise... ;):D
(Why?: It sucks! :p)

JB Hifi seem to be the only store that DIDNT raise their price on the TF3 DVD after the first couple days of its release. Both Kmart & BigW added $10 onto their release day price of about $18, but JB have kept theirs at $20 (if anyone didn't yet get a copy, but are wanting the cheapest option at this time).

I know Kmart's pricing lasted for the duration of the catalogue it was featured in, it oddly enough happens with the majority of the new releases - they're super cheap during the week of release then the prices are jacked up again the following week. Pretty stupid, I'd you ask me!

Why? At the prices they are at in the catalogue, every DVD purchased actually costs them money. Even Target, who is still selling it at $23 (New release prices usually last 2-3 weeks there), takes a 15% LOSS on each DVD.

Bro gave me DOTM on Bluray. Graphics look so bloody brilliant - so clear, so detailed. It's as if every frame of this movie can be made into an epic wallpaper.
Yet for some reason when watching this movie during the last half I dozed off, perhaps a sensory overload?? :o:o:rolleyes::D *I doubt it muhahaaha*

I'm just looking at it from the point of view of someone who has to deal with the pissy customers who have heard such and such DVD is only $18 by word of mouth, then they come in to get it, unaware of the catalogue dates, and grumble about it being jacked up to $28. I think $28 is quite a fair price for a new release. I don't see why they can't just start at the higher price and slowly drop down in price until they end up in the $9 bin - isn't that how it used to be anyway. If people want to buy movies when they're newly released, they usually don't seem to care too much about the higher price tag. That just comes with getting it new, it's a part of the luxury of a new release, if they don't want to pay full price, they can just wait for it to be marked down. The same thing happens with most things, everything starts at a set price until the fashion season changes or the item doesn't sell well or the food nears the best before. I just think jumping back and forth with new release DVD prices is annoying.
