Now its thrusday and I couldnt let you guys go without posting up another of my recent customs that Im exceptionally proud of -

I confess - its not totally my idea and I saw another fellow tfw2005'er create an awesome G1 jetfire out of the cybertron mould, so kudos for the inspiration for this repaint should go to Jaekwong. I decided to improve on his idea by giving him a more weathered feel and also more black highlights to make him even more G1'esque

Any way, I started off with a flat black paint of the whole bot and then went to town with drybrushing about 2 layers of light grey pigment and then one layer of white on the white bits. Furthermore i painted a light red straight over the drybrushed white on the red areas.

I purposely left parts black to give him a G1 jetfire looks. Then i did the following - The bot mode parts that arent seen in jet mode i drybrushed silver. I then finished him off with 2 layers of black/grey wash to give him a weathered look. I further added small details such as the autobot sticker on the tail end of the bot.

Now for the peice de resistance -

I chopped of his useless hands and gave him some new sockets in which Gundam hands could fit perfectly. Then I painted some gundam hands and a gundam gun flat black and drybrushed silver (to keep with bot mode consistency). The hands now have the articulation of the Alternator line!

As you can tell a lot of inspiration for this toy is from the G1 jetfire, and I think it is only fitting to give him a 'gerwalk' mode as well, making him a triple changer!

He has then been sealed with citadel sealer and only high quality citadel and tamiya paints have been used. About 10 hours worth of love went into making him and he has to beone of the best reapaints so far!

anyway ebay link will be posted up later

and the usual deal of free shipping to a otca memebr still applies.

Nice grimy looking repaint there goro, it's nice to see some repaints that look as though the figure has been through the wars.

Does that Citadel Sealer protect the paint from chipping well, or does it only really delay the inevitable for a little while?

surprisingly its harder to get the grimely look than the clean look... go figure!

the citadel sealer keeps it from chipping, but not transformational scratches (part rubbing).. im looking for future floor polish as ive heard that it does the job even better.. but the citadel is easy to apply as its in a spray can....

The citadel sealer keeps the paint from yellowing or flaking in the sun!

i like the nice worn out look, it would look boring plain white if you didn't

I like your painting and how the details are highlighted, but the mould, nah, cargo plane doesn't work for me.

Now if you applied that nice painting to classics jetfire..... :) I'd love to see that.

:)Very nice weathering Goro, have you tried some highlighting as well? Saying that if you put highlights on this figure it may detract from the excellent job you have done;):).
