There's good news, bad news, good news, and bad news...

Good news - more Encores.
Bad news - re-release of previous reissues.
Good news - packed with new character/deco figures.
Bad news - some will have to re-buy the re-released figures to get them.

The next two Encore sets (after Devastator I think) is:

#21 - Soundblaster w/ Enemy (red Rumble/Frenzy) & Wingsting (red Ratbat)

#22 - Twincast w/ Stripes (orange Ravage with Steeljaw's guns) & Nightstalker (black Steeljaw with Ravage's guns)

Images can be seen on some online stores that have just put up pre-orders, and also mirrored here (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/encore-21-soundblaster-and-22-twincast-announced-with-new-cassette-repaints/22918/). Scheduled for a Feb 2012 release.

Great news for fans who have wanted Soundblaster & Twincast and are yet to get them.
Kinda disappointing that they are re-releasing reissue toys to pad out the Encore line, when we'd rather see more first-release reissues.

Good to see these previously discussed items (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=11381) are getting closer to release.

The new tapes are interesting though. I hadn't wanted these before, but I do want Enemy (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Enemy)(!!! :D ).

Oh it's not Wingsting, it's Wingthing, AM Soundwave's partner. Ok. I'm sold on Soundblaster now.

I thought that looked like a typo and looking at the colour scheme I thought it was an armage also: Looks like this one is indeed worth picking up. :)

Think there's some Engrish at play with the name rather than typos.

Literally buying Soundblaster just for the cassettes. That reminds me that I still need to buy a G1 Ratbat.

Any of the combining tapes would have been good. I'm not 100% sure I like the idea of the Encore line introducing new toys over rereleases of actual G1 toys.

But to make new ones and base them on: an Actionmaster weapon, an obscure merchandise tie-in, a deleted character from an early version of the TFTM script, and an obscure character from a UK-only text story? It's such fan-bait but I give them a lot of credit for such creative repaint ideas.

I think its great for people who collect by each number (like me).

Great news for Encore to continue on :)

People buy them so Encore continues!

I'd have to go with meh myself, despite having neither I'm not fond of those repaints.

That kind of sucks. I already own the TFC Reissue Soundblaster (and soon to purchase a G1) and trying to acquire an ehobby Twincast.

They could have done someone WORTH reissuing that all the fans would go nuts over, like Victory Saber or Artfire, but instead we get more rehashes. It was great for a while there, Skylynx, Metroplex and Omega Supreme which to me kept the line fresh despite reportedly shelf warming in Japan.

I imagine we'll get an encore Hound, Astrotrain and Blitzwing soon, hell probably the Insecticons, Perceptor, and Soundwave and Blaster again too.

DINOBOTS DAMNIT!!!

Will I get these reissues? Maybe, since they are coming out around my birthday.

Sigh! Honestly is this the best they could do, for people that don't have them it is very good news, for people that supported the first Encore and Twincast re-release it is really dissappointing. I may like the recoloured cassettes but not enough to buy these 2 figures again.

Enemy = Micross? Is it an exact redeco?

I don't have any of these characters so it will be interesting.

liegeprime
6th October 2011, 09:27 AM
Well, Enemy is mostly just a red Rumble head anyways and the kinda official pic in the comics of Enemy was more of a cameo so well, any red recolored rumble can do heheheheh:D The Enemy merchandise was just a head with a headphone.

Tober
6th October 2011, 09:35 AM
Yep, but it was the red Micross that came with Cassetteman that was retconned into Enemy for the comic... I think...

+1

Enemy would be the only cassette that I'd be interested in -- the others I honestly couldn't give a Rattrap's tail about. I would've preferred it if they just sold these cassettes on their own in another four-pack.

Aftermarket prices FTL.

Just check out your local stores dude... I got most of my Japanese TFs from places like Itoyokado, Daimaru, Seibu, Tobu, Bic Camera etc. :)

I agree with some people's comments - Encore should be for reissuing toys, not releasing new characters and decos... otherwise, what is it an "Encore" of?

I guess they think the original Enemy (stick on a radio) figure was plain too boring so they tweaked it to reflect the cameos it's been shown in the comics... thanks goodness... the original was just looking KOish:p:p

It's nice to see more Encores, even if it is rehashes.

I do like the idea of getting Wingthing & Enemy - but there's no way I'll buy another Soundblaster just for the cassettes. If anyone wants to split that pack & just get Soundblaster, I'm up for it (:

I don't think that Takara-Tomy is as focused as Takara was but the new characters could be an attempt to sell the toys to people who already have the E-hobby or book reissue releases.

What irks me more from Tak-Tom is the MP line 'reboot' but that's a whole other topic.

I am so chuffed that the tfwiki has evidently played a role in the creation of these toys, seeing as the wiki is probably one of the few sites to deal with these ultra-obscure one appearance (Nightstalker)/one toy (Wingthing)/old merchandise (Enemy)/never actually existed (Stripes) characters.

The same goes for United Wipeout.
