TF3 has just nudged out the third Lord of the Rings movie, to make it into the number 4 spot on all time highest earning movies list (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/transformers-dark-of-the-moon-fourth-highestgrossing-movie-of-all-time/22938/). It would have made number 3 (for a little while) if the last Harry Potter movie was released a couple months later... but TF3 won't climb above that one now.

1.119 Billion dollars worldwide... Not bad for a movie that got mixed views and reviews.

There's no way Paramount or Hasbro would walk away from more TF movies now... and we still have the worldwide DVD sales to come.

I completely agree Griffin, it's an amazing outcome and it only leaves one question really; Sequel/Prequel or Remake/Reboot? ;)

I reckon that Hasbro could pull off a live-action TV series instead.

That's brilliant! Three cheers for TF3! I love that Titanic is still up there after all these years. I wonder what the 3D release of Titanic next year will achieve.

Really? - They're doing a 3D version?
Is it coming to cinemas?, I've got to tell my Father now as it's one of his all time favourite films. :o

Yep, it is coming back to cinemas in 3D for the 100th anniversary of the sinking next year. Personally, I hate 3D movies but I can't wait to see Titanic on the big screen again.

After just mentioning it to my Father, neither can he.:D

Give technology another 10 years and it's entirely possible.

they should get Kurt Sutter to pen the script, it'd be so badass

I'd love to see real world figures for these movies.

The Smurfs is higher on the list than Terminator 2, which should tell you everything you need to know about how utterly meaningless and redundant these lists are.

It doesn't take into account ticket price rises over time, certainly doesn't account for the 3D surcharge, it doesn't account for the increased population of the world, or the percentage of that population with access to cinemas.

Which is not to take anything away from how surprisingly well TF3 has done, especially after TF2.

Imagine how much money these things could make if they were great instead of just good?

I'll believe a TF show is possible once the Star Wars show eventually materialises. Daniel Logan will be older than Boba Fett was in the OT at this rate.

Yup that says it all really. The Smurfs...*shudders* Thanks to that movie I have a pretty clear grasp on the nature of purgatory now.

This is to cinema as 'good things sometimes happen to bad people' is to karma

Having a wide release in China certainly didn't hurt the box office of those films.

Are you suggesting that Michael Bay didn't deserve this?

I think he does, despite not having a sound plot or real character development in his movie Bay does know how to make movies very appealing to audiences on the simplest levels (robots, explosions, girls, explosions, repeat). It's a cheap formula really but works so well financially.

As Transformer fans this is an awesome result... it means more product for many more years to come

Exactly right. Whether you are a fan of the movies or not you have to appreciate what this did for the franchise.

Yes there may be products, but Hasbro better not get comfortable with more repaints of Optimus and Bumblebee!!!!

At the risk of reinginiting an old old debate, but you've perfectly highlighted the keen difference between "best" and "highest grossing". There are few people in the world who would claim that The Scottish Restaurant is the best in the world...

I find myself reminded of the scene in Idiocracy where the Best Picture Oscar in 2505 is won by a film showing 90 minutes of a man's bare fundament, farting...

Ruined FOREVER (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Ruined_FOREVER)... :p

(I came across that page today, and was surprised to see a link to our site at the bottom... which goes to a tongue-in-cheek posting by our own Sky Shadow on the matter)

Galvatron would be awesome! Even better if they go 1 step forward with Unicron!
