Following the success of the first Infestation crossover series, starting January next year, IDW will release a 12 issue second series (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/idw-press-releasethe-infestation-spreads-again/22965/).

Branching across more series this time, the Transformers segment will apparently be set in the 'Hearts of Steel' story-verse... so I can't imagine this Infestation series being part of the current IDW TF universe. Otherwise they'd have a lot of explaining to do, to make HoS fit in with the Ongoing series.

INFESTATION 2 #1 ($3.99, 32 pages, full color) will be available in stores on January 25, 2012.

INFESTATION 2: TRANSFORMERS #1 and #2 will be in stores on February 1 and 15, 2012, respectively.

INFESTATION 2: DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: EBERRON #1 and #2 will be in stores on February 8 and 22, 2012, respectively.

INFESTATION 2: TEAM-UP will be in stores on February 29, 2012.

INFESTATION 2: TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #1 and #2 will be in stores on March 7 and 21, 2012, respectively.

INFESTATION 2: G.I. JOE #1 and #2 will be in stores on March 14 and 28, 2012, respectively.

INFESTATION 2: 30 DAYS OF NIGHT will be in stores on April 4, 2012.

INFESTATION 2 #2 will be available in stores on April 11, 2012.

An interview with IDW's Chris Ryall (http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=34889) delves into the upcoming Infestation 2 comic series, and he talks a bit about the Transformers component... in that Hearts of Steel was meant to be the first of many "Evolutions" type stories that weren't part of the main storyline, but ended up being the only one produced. Now they have the opportunity to revisit that story, to hopefully appease the cult demand of more HoS story.

Always wondered why we didnt get more "alternate Earth" based Tf stories. Time will tell if the second crossover is as dull and boring as the first, or whether being set in an alternate reality gives the writers more freedom to really mess things around a bit.

What with Prime and the IDW crossovers, TF vs. Zombies is getting to be quite popular...
