*An upgrade for a G1 figure (http://www.tfu.info/1988/Autobot/OptimusPrime/optmiusprime.htm)? or an Upgrade for a Classicsverse figure (http://www.tfu.info/2006/Autobot/ClassicsOptimusPrime/optimusprime.htm)?

Interesting.

I think that prime may be the classics prime that has the torso swivel- from that prime/megs 2 pack- i.e. the one that was released again in UNited and in clear as part of the sons of cybertron 2 pack with classics rodimus.

Id definitely be interested in this :D

That's what I was thinking also gdm.
Hopefully they have learned from their xovergen sets that good plastic is a necessity.

Interesting, if it's for Classics Prime then I may bite, don't see the point in upgrades for original G1 toys though, cause then they are no longer G1.

That looks like Powermaster Optimus Prime to me. Maybe it's an upgrade for the new MP mold? I dont see the point of remaking pm armor for the G1 figure that already has it.

Could be to render the original figure less brick-like. :p

They've add new teaser images and its MP-10 Prime (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/updated-new-xovergen-product-trailerforce-tf01/23033/)

Not just MP Prime but also Classics and Powermaster.

Photo 1 - Powermaster

Photo 2 - Classics (Henkei to be exact)

Photo 3 - MP-10

This makes it even weirder. It's this thing just a trailer or is it also armor? If it is armor, how can it fit all molds if that is what they are implying with the pictures.

If it's a trailer for the G1 powermaster Op toy to make it fully poseable like what Hursticon said, then I'm actually interested (but not at the prices quoted for the previous Xovergen projects).
If it's yet another add-on trailer for the various Optimus Primes then forget it.

Now that's awesome!

But I will wait for final pics and perhaps review before committing to buy. The last release from this company was less than good, specially for the asking price.

I want to like it, but I'm just not that impressed, Its very much Powermaster Prime, but something just isn't working for me in those cad images. Not sure. I guess I'll wait and see.

Personally, I think the Head sculpt could look a little bit more 'Mastery' and a little less 'Primey' if you know what I mean? :o

Ooooooh yeesssss...... this is nice :D
All that needs to be done is to make the head a little bulkier/boxy as this current head looks like that of Star Convoy (without the white forehead bit) which doesn't suit PM Prime IMO.
You need a bulkier looking head and that'll make this close to perfect for me... yeeeesssss :p

I like the overall design concept but yeah, the proportions are really blocky specially at the waist.

Although I wish it turns out good, I am not expecting it as the design has the potential of not being able to translate well into plastic. The company doesn't have a great record either.

Yeah the previous release was an excellent concept I thought with a really mediocre execution. Again here I'm getting that vibe.

I really love the concept, but not feeling it.

And yeah the head is also part of it, I don't think I like the companies sculptors style. With other companies pushing the bar and many adopting the IMO quite likable classics/Fansproject clone style, I've become more picky when it comes to sculpt.

Updated pics of Xovergen's Powermaster Prime (http://tformers.com/transformers-xovergen-tf-01-trailerforce-ready/18515/news.html) (without a Powermaster) indicating that its almost ready for the market. Trailer mode is pretty impressive (http://tformers.com/ig.php?mode=view&album=18515&pic=Xovergen+Production+Ready+to+Roll-Out%21+TF-01+TrailerForce++Images++Classics+Prime+PMOP+Upgra de+%2826%29.jpg&dispsize=800&start=0&sl=transformers-xovergen-tf-01-trailerforce-ready), however with its combined mode standing as tall as the original MP Prime, not sure where this powermaster without a Powermaster will fit in my collection. Comparison pics here (http://tformers.com/transformers-clear-pictures-of-xovergen-trailerforce/17675/news.html).

Yeah I dunno...

It looks pretty good, sounds like everyone is waiting for reviews before deciding, but I just don't think that it's worth $135 + shipping. That and the matter of space.

Maybe if it gets clearanced.

I'm thinking the same.. I'd rather spend that amount on something else that fits in with the rest of the Classics shelf.

Hmmm, impressive, but the trailer looks pretty poor I think, it essentially looks like a robot lying down to me and not very trailer like at all. The head needs to be fatter too.:p

Shame, as I'd be all over a Powermaster something for my Classic Op. The FP G3 trailer was awesome imo and I was looking forward to more.

I don't mind it, glad to see they fixed those horrible looking ankles, but I do have a couple of points of contention:

His eye colour is Blue & it should be Red (They photoshopped red highlights over the eyes for marketing ).
The pegs for the Dual-Barrelled Cannons on his shoulders seem too thin.

Like I imagine the vast majority of people are feeling, I'm going to wait for reviews of this set before making any final decisions; Xovergen haven't been too successful in the past and they'll need to of improved greatly since their last effort IMO. :o

That's burglary! When I was in Hong Kong hey had it at numerous shops for ~$135AUD.

I don't like the lack of a Powermaster for Classics.

Yeah but how would they incorporate that without releasing their own Prime figure? It's a fairly specific gimmick.

I'm sure they were going to do a remolded Classics prime with Hi-Q to go with this guy. He had ball jointed ankles even.

Yeah I remember that. Wonder why they pull it out. The Powermaster was a huge draw for me.

there are alot of new photos and galleries up on the internet for the finished product, what are your thoughts?

Proportions seem off, but there is something about this kit i dislike but cant put my finger on

My guess would be because It's too big, the sculpt is very basic, so it's really just the 80's toy with articulation.

Seen the toy at a mate's place and it does look and feel rather cheap.
I personally feel that the colors are kinda off... seems like it's missing something.

That is certainly... something. Something ugly and badly designed.

ChlorHex
6th January 2014, 02:23 PM
Hmmm... looking at it again...
I think it needs to be bulked up to amplify the fact that it's an armored version of Prime.
This interpretation is too lanky I guess.
Hope some other 3rd party has a go and adds a HiQ too

I think in order to tackle Powermaster Prime/Jinrai they'd need to build it from the ground up to get good results. I think the Classics Prime mold has just got a bit old and limits options, as we can see in this product. I think if they made their own Prime cab, they could make a combined form with better proportions.
