Hi All

I finally acquired most of the parts I need for my not so simple custom. My thanks to Ptitvite , Frenzy_Rumble, Malfunction, Robo_art and all other kitbashers for their fantastic custom TF's. I have decided to create my own based on their designs.

I just started last week and would like to show my progress for anyone who is interested. Any help, suggestions and comments are much appreciated.

Please excuse the excessive use of red electrical tape, Im fairly new to the customizing scene. I just felt the need to see how they will look like before I even attempt to kitbash anything :).

Thanks for looking!

2. Demolishor and Hightower connection 25/10/11. I used lego parts to connect this two together. No add on parts on Demolishor. I added 4 lego connectors on Hightower.
Chest Part (http://www.flickr.com/photos/65347070@N08/6285867454/in/set-72157627734094872/)

3. Wedge and Grimlock connection 26/10/11. I managed to connect primus' arms and the bots using lego parts. The bots did not require add on parts. The arms rotate 360 degrees. I might change to a different connector in the future.

WOW, while I'm not familiar with a lot of the individual parts you're using the final products look really promising.
How do you plan to make them join up?
I'm assuming that the finished versions won't transform, is that correct.

Thanks!

They will have individual bot and vehicle modes. Im using lego knights and technic connectors. Im trying not to modify the actual figures if possible to keep them close to stock/original. Most of the lego parts are removable.

Hope this photo helps.

Awesome progress shots!
i'll definitely be following along your work!

you should think about having 3 separate threads for each figure as they are just too awesome to squish all into one thread. lol

Have you ever thought about using classics hot rod instead of universe sideswipe, just to mix things up a bit and have 5 different vehicle moulds?

hey, i've never seen a classics OP (helicopter prime) used as a mixmaster before. most of the time people use energon barricade which is damn expensive to get now due to the popularity of the FP crossfire kits.

Thanks!

what is a lego knight? is it the same as a bionicle joint?

also, im very curious to see how you plan to use only lego connectors to avoid modding or puttying up connector joints straight onto the limbs...
never seen that done before without modding the figures.

hey, if you butchered up a few cyb primus, do you mind selling me his blue chest plate? or ive got a tonne of donor figures and joints if you ever want to trade parts? lol.

fark... just noticed that you're using megamorph hulk's hands!!!
where did you find those and how much did you buy it for?

Bloody hell!
Some excellent work man as these WIPs sure do give a pretty damn good impression of what the final results will look like.
Really looking forward to see how you go with these dude, impressive use of duck-tape too! :D:p

I have considered Hot Rod but his alt mode is longer than sideswipe. Another down side his height in bot mode. I will just modify sideswipe to differentiate in alt mode etc. remove spoiler.

Just wanted to try something different. I will have to modify this figure make him less prime-like.

Lego knights(ratchet type) have different joints compared to bionicle(ball joint type).

The primus I'm using atm is my display piece, this is one of the reason why I have not modified anything because I might put him back together. I have a couple of junker primus in-transit. If you can wait I will give you the chest plate when they arrive.

I got megamorphs hulk from ebay for $15 plus $20 shipping(the damn thing is big and heavy). My suggestion is if you just need the hands ask the seller if they can remove it and discard the rest so you can save on shipping. Everything about that bot is crap except for the hands IMHO.

Need your input guys.

Which do you think is better as Motormaster, Universe Inferno or Cybertron Optimus Prime?

I will adjust the shoulders once MM is decided.

I desperately need to buy a junker Cybertron Primus, If you have one please PM details. Luckily the forearms are interchangeable.

Thanks for looking!

IMO the Cybertron Prime cab has a far more Decepticon-y feel to it than what Inferno's does, that mold (Albeit down-scaled to Legend (http://www.google.com.au/imgres?um=1&hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=np&biw=1645&bih=875&tbm=isch&tbnid=cGq1bpkWdZAogM:&imgrefurl=http://www.cliffbee.com/reviews/clmenasor.php&docid=MGa-idGDmIzG4M&imgurl=http://www.cliffbee.com/reviews/images/clmenasor.gif&w=500&h=311&ei=UmImUOywGNGeiQe0l4HAAw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=839&vpy=267&dur=3876&hovh=177&hovw=285&tx=132&ty=96&sig=117652368544485688250&page=2&tbnh=132&tbnw=212&start=30&ndsp=39&ved=1t:429,r:11,s:30,i:200)) has already been proven to wear Motormaster's colours well too. ;)

Thanks Hursti!

He's massive as well compared to Inferno, very Decepticon-y indeed. On the downside is he doesn't fit well with the classic cars and Menasor will wear his huge legs as backpack.

Inferno on the other hand can be modified as a cab, maybe haul a trailer as well. Alt mode goes well with classic cars and I like how his legs give Menasor a G1 MM robot mode look(well kinda). He's too small to be menacing though.

Cybetron Prime Cab.

Inferno looks bare being the chest part of Menasor, whereas it looks more solid using Cyb Prime cab. never mind the back pack it'll give the body some bulk :) You can always just have it straight behind the head since G1 menasor basically has a backpack behind the head (since it is a box trailer) so having the legs squarely behind the head emulates that.

Thanks liege! Cybertron Prime it is.

Although the backpack mode for Cyb Prime can be difficult to pull off due to his crotch plate.

I think I can modify the body to hold Cyb Prime and Inferno, I will stick with Cyb Prime for now :).
