The First Edition wave (Wave 0) of the new Prime toys have had a release in HK yesterday (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/transformers-prime-wave-1-released-in-hong-kong-plus-inhand-look-of-prime-entertainment-pack/23112/), a month before they were scheduled to be released.

And the interesting bit of info is that Dlx Cliffjumper has been brought forward from Wave 1 (which wasn't meant to be released until March).

I'll have to find out if any other figures have been brought forward to Wave 0.

I have asked Hasbro Australia TWICE in the last month if & when we are getting the First Edition figures here, but I'm still yet to get a reply (I only send them about 10 emails per year, so maybe I've reached my limit for this year).

Could members here please send an email to Hasbro Australia (http://www.hasbro.com/en_AU/customer-service/) asking when we are getting the First Edition & Wave 1 Prime toys... and if possible, the expected figures (in case we need to import some items, so that we aren't waiting out for something that we aren't getting anyway).
If they send you a reply, post it here or in the AUS news section.

Maybe if they get more local people asking these questions, they might actually reply. And if it works, I might do it more often, just to be sure I can get you guys the AUSTRALIAN info that I want to be featuring on this AUSTRALIAN fansite.

I noticed that DVD in the 2-pack with Optimus & Megatron, has Episode 6 on it... possibly because the first 5 episodes are being released at the same time in America.
Not sure why they are calling it the 'Series Premiere' though, as that would be Episode 1.

Oh, and I also noticed that the Optimus in the 2-pack is almost identical to the SDCC preview edition, with just the windows on the chest being blue instead of grey (for anyone wondering if it is worthy buying both). There might be other minor differences in the truck mode, but I didn't see any pics of that yet.

An aussie member of TFW2005 posted this:

I sent an email to Hasbro Australia asking when the Prime toys would be released, and they said it was planned for a March release. Here's the email in its entirety:

"Hi -,

Thank you for your email.

There are plans to release the Transformers Prime toy line including the Deluxes, Voyagers & Entertainment Pack early next year, around March.

Regards"

Totally sucks if true, but I'll most likely be shopping online entirely from now on anyway. No more of my monies for Hasbro Australia!

I think the 2-pack version also has the head crest painted silver?

Sooooo... did anyone here end up emailing Hasbro? Even if it is true that we aren't getting the Prime toys until March, we at least need to know what we are getting... like, are we getting all of Wave 0 (First Edition figures) with Wave 1 in March, or will Wave 1 be delayed until a few months after Wave 0?

If they send you a reply, post it here or in the AUS news section.

I sent an email to Hasbro AUS regarding this yesterday and got the following response this morning:

"The animated series and toys have already sold in the US but not in Australia.

For Australian consumers, the series is airing on cartoon network with a sneak peak double episode on November 6, before the series begins on November 14.

In March, Cartoon Network will re-run the series again.

Our toy range will coincide with this re-run and hit shelves March 2012. Unfortunately, I do not have any further information on whether Australia will receive the full range of product."

So it looks like next year end of first quarter...

Thanks for that.

It's rather annoying that they answer other people, but ignore the admin of this site. You'd think they'd prefer to have to answer one person, instead of taking up more time answering several people (which is what will need to happen if I can't get any info from them).

I'll put up a copy of your post in the AUS news section.

is there any real differences besides the "First Edition" on the packaging that we know of??

As of yet, not really - It's speculated that a good number of these 'First Edition' figures were designed to be slotted into the Classicsverse line at the time of release, so, it's possible that these figures may be revisited down the track with differing molds or simply retools/repaints. :)

It's all a part of the magic that is Hasbro's Marketing Department. :p

I'm really hoping a local store like Toy Kingdom ends up with some stock of the NYCC set like they have with SDCC exclusives. The prices on eBay for the pack are just too high right now, especially when last I checked you could order it for less if you're in the US.

Um, WOW. The Autobots are pretty uninteresting (more boring cars, woohoo!) but I'm so collecting the Prime Decepticons. Skyquake and Soundwave are insanely cool!

EDIT: Just noticed that Soundwave is deluxe class, whereas Starscream and Skyquake are getting a Voyager Class release...Hmm, wonder if it's going to be worth waiting for a larger/better Soundwave?

TF Prime Hasbro Deluxes and voyagers up for preorder on BBTS (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/menu.aspx?menu=2819&company=0&category=8092).
Also according to the message they sent Seiberton these aren't going to be sold in target, Walmart etc. :rolleyes:I reckon they just mean the first edition ones.

Still undecided as to whether I'm going to go with either just Takara or Hasbro on this line.

But DD, Soundwave is only little. :p

Im really going to have to play the waiting game rather than rushing off and pre ordering the first edition toys. As awesome as they look, I want to see what Japan does with their versions, and how Hasbro release the regular release of TF Prime to retailers

- ie, are they doing repacks/redecos/retools or new molds of the First Edition main cast in order to get the core cast out there.

THIS!

Both the deluxe and voyager Primes look especially cheap with the Hasbro-grey surrounding the cockpit windows on his chest. If Tak-Tomy rectify this with chrome or AT LEAST silver paint, then consider them bought instead!

I'd imagine that they would be re-releasing the First Edition figures in the main waves, as the FE figures aren't getting a worldwide release and dont even appear to be released in all US stores. Since that's 5 of the main 8 cast, it'd be pretty stupid for Hasbro not to re-release them as general release figures.
(and at the NYCC, Bumblebee was shown as being part of the Wave 1 March release... but it'd also be stupid for them to take too long re-releasing the rest as well, including Optimus & Megatron as separate figures)

Not that it would matter much here... just like Beast Machines toys not selling while it was on Foxtel, these wont sell if the cartoon never screens on free-to-air.

Well that confirms it then - Cliffjumper has been brought forward into the First Edition Wave, as a Revision wave. And so have the two Voyagers, Bulkhead and Optimus. But for some reason, they aren't getting them until January (America were supposed to get them in December, by Christmas). Maybe their retailers are having a hard time trying to clear out the Movie toys backlog like our retailers (even with all the discounts and promotions over there).

If these have been released in HK, I wonder why they aren't showing up much on ebay. Although, the title of this series is the worst possible for searching Ebay - every Optimus toy shows up in that word search, so you have to just go by character name, which gives you every previous toy version of that name...

Starscream is a little fella too but he's getting a Voyager Class toy, that's why I'm wondering if the same will happen for Soundwave (being that they're the same size on the show). :)

Having said that, if wanting a Prime collection that's in scale with their on screen counterparts, it might be better to get Screamer and Soundwave as Deluxes, Voyager Skyquake, Voyager Megatron etc. Oh the decisions us Transformers collectors have to make!:p

They're sticking with the Voyagers being sold in Robot mode? I've never liked that.

Besides, how do you stack these (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/images/products/aux2/large/HAS21020.jpg)? Nice square boxes are good.

Could end up with Takara giving it shiny red paint and not touching the grey. (But then I'm biased and firmly in the Takara Animated doesn't look good camp.) The "white" look on the BBTS photos of Hasbro Prime aren't very flattering though either.

Agreed. Not only is it inconvenient for MISBers, it's like having the toy outside the Kinder Surprise. :p Hopefully this is just for the First Editions.

In terms of paint apps, I think metallics could look fantastic and if done right, the Takara Prime toys should be more show accurate than Hasbro's offerings.

That could just be the First Edition Packaging, as I would think it would be more expensive to produce en-mass than regular cardboard based packaging. But I guess it shows off the whole toy better, so may appeal more to Retailers.

I guess in March we'll see for sure when Wave 1 is sighted.

Good work on getting some. I've only managed to find Bumblebee and the two-pack so far.

I pre ordered the Takara versions. They will have more paint aps. As usual will look better then the hasbro versions. Ive been waiting for these figures for a long time.

Just thought it worth mentioning that all the First Edition deluxe toys I've purchased online (Arcee, Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, Starscream) have only two "distrubted by" addresses on the bottom: One for Hasbro Australia and one for Hasbro New Zealand.

I think this would mean that Hasbro does intend for the First Edition packaging figures to be sold here eventually.

Zippo
11th December 2011, 09:04 PM
ALL Transformers toys have had those addresses on them for years
Even stuff that was USA exclusive. Amazon Unicron has it for example.

Doesn't mean they will be released here and Hasbro NZ have already said to the NZ community that we are not getting the first editions here.

Paulbot
11th December 2011, 09:12 PM
They were missing the "in UK" address that I'm used to seeing so I thought this might be a bit different, but on checking the DOTM toys I see those had only the same two (AUS and NZ) addresses too. Oh well... thought it might be a positive sign.

griffin

Since packaging is often designed and produced before Hasbro signs up pre-orders with stores (or markets/countries), listing set distribution addresses is usually part of the standard "templates" of packaging layout... included just in case that country ends up distributing. After all, it is better if they list extra info, than missing necessary info.
