This is said to be released in December (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/new-details-on-the-transformers-trilogy-ultimate-collection-signature-edition-dvd-bluray-set/23243/), via selected US sources.
There will only be 5,000 made.
They will be autographed by Bay.
Will be sold on Amazon.com and another US retailer.
They will contain the 3 TF Blu-ray movies + behind the scenes stuff.
It will be out in December
No price known yet, but should be hefty (and even more later when it sells out).
Teaser images of the set at the link above.
Hopefully it will have enough extras in it to make it worth buying... otherwise it is just the regular Bluray editions in a fancy (expensive) case.

isn't there talks about a 4th movie? Doesn't the blu ray editions already have behind the scenes footage?
probably a moot box set as they'll probably keep releasing boxset after boxset to cater for the new movies.

I have been waiting on more details of this box set since first hearing rumours of it. I really wanted it at first. But upon discussing it with the missus and seeing your posts, 1) do i really need michael bay's signage? 2) the actual box isn't a spectacular design. I do really like the film strip though. i guess it depends on how much it will be worth.. which will probably be out of my budget anyway.
I did want a cool box set for the three movies, would you guys recommend the jb hifi transforming box set? does it have any special features on there?

This ultimate boxset will be released January 31st (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/additional-details-on-the-transformers-trilogy-ultimate-collection-signature-edition-dvd-bluray-set/23264/) (in America), and is said to include TF3 in 3D Bluray as a bonus.

Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006OT03BM/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=theoffimichba-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B006OT03BM) currently has it discounted down to US$105 (plus free shipping if you qualify)... which is probably cheaper than what it would cost to get the 4 movies (7 discs... 3xBluray movies + 3xBluray special feature discs + 1x3D Bluray movie) individually in this country. Plus you get a fancy case, autograph, and is limited to 5000 units.
The Amazon link lists all the bonus content of all 3 bluray movies, but the formatting is a bit messed up... so if you are wanting to see what the TF3 Bluray release (included in this boxset, and released separately) has as its bonus content, it has been transcribed here (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/special-features-for-dark-of-the-moon-3d-bluray-revealed/23527/).
It's pretty much 'behind the scenes' & pre-production stuff. I would have preferred to see deleted/extended scenes.... but maybe Bay is such an efficient visionary with his work that he never films anything that he doesn't use. Then again, filming extra stuff gives more flexibility during post-production, instead of trying to stitch together everything that was filmed, which can create visual and plot inconsistencies, omissions, or even complete contradictions.
It seems to be more common these days - if you want bonus content, you have to buy the more expensive bluray version. DVD editions now seem to be the "no frills" cheap release now, as they will ultimately be phased out for the HD and Digital mediums. (kinda like VHS... DVDs came out with expensive bonus content, accelerating the transition to the DVD medium)

Can we import this DVD set from the US?
Amazon website has always shipped DVDs/Blurays to me in the past, and took my pre-order on this one, so there shouldn't be any problem.
Also note people - it has been discounted *again* on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006OT03BM/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=theoffimichba-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B006OT03BM), down from the original US$150 to US$90 (with the chance of free shipping).
This is in addition to recent HEAVY discounting of the regular 3-pack DVDs that are coming out soon in America... so either Paramount were over-estimating the production numbers, or people already have enough copies of the TFs movies (or these 3-packs just don't offer enough bonus features to warrant buying another set of three movies).

The Seibertron website has been given an advance copy of the Ultimate set, ahead of its release next week, and have posted up a gallery of pics here (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/transformers-ultimate-collectors-limited-signature-edition-bluray-gallery/23769/).

Hey Colin let us know what region it is.
colin78
6th February 2012, 10:12 PM
Hey, it says it's region 1, but they all seem to play on my ps3. I also have the Imax edition of ROTF on Blu ray and that plays flawlessly too. I thought blu ray dvd's were region free, but I'm not sure.
I've added some pics of the pack too...

Yeah, it's a cool little pack. I already have Bay's autograph on the rotf DVD shoot for the edit released, and on the trade paperback of the original movie from the press junket he was at in 2007, but there are only 5000 of them and I seem to have an addiction. Lol.

Thats good that it plays on the ps3, I was going to ask that question as well. Looks like I might get it myself.

Are you in the UK?
I only have a UK ps3 - so looking to confirm this well play.

No, I'm in australia. I don't know if the ps3's are different configs between countries, but I assume it would work. Sorry. Lol.

PS3 is not region locked. Even though the slim-line is not compatible with PS2 games, at least Sony got that right.

PS3 is region locked for dvd/Bluray movies but is region free for games. I have bought blurays form the states because i have a cheap "cracked" blu ray player tha can play them, but some of them do work on the PS3. Even though they do say region 1 on the case, i really think it is meant to be region free (they are probably not allowed to have region free or 0 on the case for legal reasons?).

The TF3 special features disc works in my PS3 (it's the only one I've tried so far - which may be region free though).

I finally noticed the box-set today at JB-Hi Fi and I gotta say, pretty disappointing that the box doesn't even boast about any of its own contents, just that it can transform. Well la-di-da what about how many discs there are and if there any special features? But thanks for the previous posts I now have my answers.

That's the annoying thing about the Ultimate Bluray set - there doesn't appear to be any paperwork or packaging labeling to say what special features are included.
