By the looks of it it's set in the same "main" timeline as the original manga (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rurouni_Kenshin) (early Meiji Period (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meiji_period)) rather than starting off in the prequel timeline (late Tokugawa Shogunate/Bakumatsu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bakumatsu))... hopefully the movie will start with a short prologue scene set in the Bakumatsu period (which is actually how the manga starts) - but hopefully showing us more of what we saw in the prequel OVA series (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rurouni_Kenshin:_Trust_%26_Betrayal) (e.g. Hiko Seijuro, Shinsengumi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shinsengumi) & the Ikedaya Incident (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ikedaya_Jiken) and the whole Ishin-shishi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shishi_%28organization%29) revolt/movement (precursor to the Meiji Restoration (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meiji_Restoration) - and of course, Kenshin's first marriage to Yukishiro Tomoe and his ultimate battle with Shogunate-allied NINJA! :D) -- it's a lot to pack into a prologue scene, but I think it could be done with a voice-over narration to help speed things along (much like say, the prologue scene in The Fellowship of the Ring).

Otherwise... they could make an entirely separate prequel movie later on if this one is successful enough, heh. Either way... I wants to watch!! XD

i saw some pratice sessions, i don't know if i'm gonna like the Meji era. i like the Tokugawa stuff more (sorry can't remember whats what). And i hope Tomoe is a hot chick. Kaoru, I don't like her character much. I also hope they use the right language for the right era. not like the anime, using modern type sentences, grammer ect.

after seeing the trailers for this I wanna see it even though I don't really know much about Rurouni Kenshin (saw the first few episodes years ago)
the movie just looks good (of course it helps that I'm a fan of Takeru Sato (the actor playing kenshin) ^_^)

i Cosplayed kenshin once. you can find it on cosplaylab, under 'yukitora', in retired costumes. One which i would like o redo.

I once cosplayed as a member of the Shinsengumi, but my happi was all wrong. :p I got a more accurate one now... should do it again sometime... (but alas I no longer own a gi w/ hakama :rolleyes:)

I really like how they've kept Kenshin's "Oro?!" -- I guess making his eyes bulge out or spin around as he says this would've looked ridiculous in live action. :p
