New Castle Market Village set, Pirate and Power Miners are available from legoshop - anyone interested in anything? I'm placing an order for the Medieval Market Village along with some pirates stuff and wouldn't mind splitting shipping to my address - you will need to pay extra on top for shipping to your address once the sets arrive however. Payment will need to be made prior to me placing the order as well. I'm placing the order on Wednesday so if anyone is interested in anything just send me a PM.

Guys, I saw 2 sets of Lego Death Star with really banged up boxes at Myer (Pitt Street Mall, Sydney). They were going for $545. Probably found it in the store during their stock check or something.

I also saw 1 Eiffle Tower set.

6192 - Pirate Building Set

6743 - Creator - Street Speeder

7630 - City Construction - Front End Loader
7632 - City Construction - Crawler Crane
7633 - City Construction - Construction Site

8015 - Star Wars - Assassin Droid's Battle Pack
8016 - Star Wars - Hyena Droid Bomber

Yea, saw the new construction stuff at Target yesterday.

We were hunting down city police sets all day yesterday. The only thing we found that wasn't the police station nor truck was a "sidewalk" set that had a cop in it.

If anyone sees the helicopter or http://city.lego.com/en-us/Products/Police/7245.aspx that, let me know. :) Also after the fire station.

Also, saw the VW beetle set @ david jones too. Pretty huge 1600+ bits for $150.

And as a note, it's annoying to see almost every store had at least half of its shelves packed with the stupid clone wars lego. Just sitting there in their gigantic boxes taking the space away from the good sets that do sell.

And speaking of logos, the courier guy from the city sidewalk set has the original space logo on the front of him. :)

If you have joined the LEGO Club (15 dollars for a lifetime membership), you will get their catalogues when they come out.

I got mine, but it didn't show the Pirate or Space Police sets, so I think it's only for the first quarter or so of 2009.

Ive only seen DJ have Cafe corner and Green grocer so far. They apparently keep it in stock when its not Xmas seasonand just bring em out when it is, since they expect that it would most likely sell during those months ( as per the saleslady at the toys section of Parramatta DJ) I was only able to put Cafe corner on layby at the time coz Id be really broke if I added the green grocer - I know TDD has both. Coz I got them both for 200 each, I only had to pay about 30-40/week, which isnt too bad.

Does anyone know why Lego Batman sets are so extortionately priced??? Looking at the price of sets on ebay and bricklink, set 7884 (Batman's Buggy: Escape of Mr Freeze) goes for $50 and upwards - why??? Its the smallest set in the range and was released just last year!! Then there's the Batmobile (no cheaper than $150 US), the Batcave for $200 and up and so on. Are they rare or is demand just significantly higher than supply?

I believe coz the line will be cancelled. Prolly and this is just a hunch, Lego has to share the profit for the line with the co-owners as Batman is TM under DC, so they have to pay royalties and all, as well as paying royalties to Bob Kane ( creator) and prolly if WB has a say in it, mebbe a cut as well.

Batman sets have a lot of unique and customised pieces which I would say are highly coveted since it looks like they didn't have huge production runs of batman sets.

Yeah, I noticed that too. The online store has the Quad Bike for $60 but K-Mart have it for $65. I think they're trying to preserve margins. The bulldozer is the same price as it is on the Legoshop site tho.

Also, note that K-Mart are already clearing out Mars Mission sets which is amazingly strange. I was gonna buy them for parts but figured i really probably shouldn't with time at a premium now.

Apparently Lego increased the prices last year, but because of out good $ at the time, we were buffeted from the price rise. Now the dollar is crap, so we get the price rise.
I also suspect Lego is trying to protect itself from the financial crisis, so they kept prices at the increase so they can add some padding to their pockets even though oil has dropped considerably.
Annoying it is, I think it is kind of ok seeing as they are still a customer focused company.
And if I remember right, still family owned.

The online store has the Quad Bike for $60 but K-Mart have it for $65. I think they're trying to preserve margins.

And when there is a 10/20% off sale it drops. I swear it's a con K-mart is trying to do

Stompy

I thought it'd have something to do with the financial crisis. They aren't too expensive but when you want to get 3+ at a time. It adds up. Time to wait for a sale.

It was originally because of the high oil price. But when it dropped, they kept the prices up to pad themselves out.
Although they have been having a rough couple of years since 2000, so they do really need some protecting.

Managed to find some new Lego locally - New Zealand, and the RRP certinally has increased. Mad me rather sad as I am going to have to be picky. I do find it funny though how a big Technic Crane is cheaper though than a smaller Star Wars or Indy Jones item, but I guess Lego has to pay for rights somewhere.

Question for the Australian Lego Shop ..
Are items shipped from Australia or the USA/UK/Demark/elsewhere?

I ask regarding the Lego Shop, as the postage price kills any deals you may find. Up to $25, pay $25 in postage. And since all new items are RRP anyway, why not just walk down to the store..

And when there is a 10/20% off sale it drops. I swear it's a con K-mart is trying to do

I just realised we were wrong over the weekend. The quadbike is actually $58 at K-Mart. $2 cheaper than RRP so with the discount it'd actually be better so we were being unfair there. Still pricey for the set though it does look very nice and I may pick it up as my first technic set

That's really the only thing (6234 Brickbeard's Bounty) from the 2009 sets I want at the moment. Well that and the 7749 Echo Base (Star Wars).

Guys, Pirates aint on the first half release schedule for stores down under according to the latest catalogue. Anyway, the real reason for this post - New Town, Castle, Agents, Power Miners and Space Police pics!!

Love the new Agents copter and the rogues gallery for the space police line is top stuff! Power Miners is starting to grow on me too. And even though I dont collect city, the new bus station set is really tempting. Bring on the second half of 2009 for new Legos!!

The Space Police ships look awesome. Can't wait for them. Great pieces too.

The Agents don't look as good as the first time but the Helicopter looks awesome as does the 4 Wheel pursuit vehicle. The female badgirl is pretty cool too. The mech makes me think of inferior Exoforce though.

Power Miners.. the drill is about the only interesting thing in any of those sets. Won't touch.

Loving both the Creator sets too. Lots of fun there.

Holy moly! I'm going to be so broke this year. That little robot dog for the Space Police is awesome. Can probably make one out of my spares right now by just looking at those pics. Will most likely grab the entire Space Police set.

Agent's sets are all must haves. Nice to see a robot vehicle for the main villian. Looks ace. The "deco" written with texta on the figure being held by the robot is amusing. I guess they will photoshop the "deco"/design when it's all finalized.

And some mroe Ferrari Lego. How many times do they have to make reiterations of the F1 and the Scuderia truck?

That Creator Dragon. Will be a nice counter to the green dragon they had a year or so ago.

All looking good.

It appears they are reducing the amount of medium-large sets in favour of the more affordable smaller sets, judging from the sizes and recent releases for this year so far. I guess all those shelf-warming Mars Mission sets and the financial crisis is hitting them hard.

In all fairness though, the cars the Ferrari team uses change every year and the sets reflect that. The truck is also not a full semi like the first version but rather a smaller supply truck. But then again, its Ferrari F1, there's not really much scope to produce anything else. :p

Maybe not $130 worth of build time. But as far as plastic weight goes, it feels about right.

That's why the fabled 'part to price' ratio system is so completely flawed. There's more expense involved in a set than just pumping out a bunch of parts. It also depends on the amount of unique/rare pieces the set requires, and how many printed elements there are.

I'm trying to put together (over a long period of time) a town/rail layout, but not in the traditional way (IE one big board with everything permanently stuck down).

I'm setting up little 'vignettes' or mini diaromas, each with a piece of straight track involved in some way...the harbour crane and boat for example will have the rail running alongside it to receive cargo.

Another diaroma may feature 4-5 houses on a straight road, across the road is a beach with the coast guard tower, and another section of straight rail running between the road and beach. Maybe a little beach shop too.

There would be a downtown area too (predominantly made up of the 'town plan' set if I can find it cheap somewhere), with a park in the middle and a train station, and again a length of straight rail running through somewhere.

The airport and police station (prison transport?) need to be factored in there somewhere, and I think the farm could make a nice destination as well.

The idea is to then be able to have these on display as separate little scenes in the display cabinet, but be able to bring them down on the weekends, join all the segments together with other track (a different layout everytime) and let the kids play with it.

That's the plan anyway... :)

Dude, I'm looking at it, doesn't look to be that much plastic at all compared to the police station. Even the $89 fire station looks to be a much better buy.

If you can justify it for a couple of cows and large silo/barn bits, then go for it. I just can't. I find more value in this at the same price: http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Product.aspx?p=8295&cn=57&d=70 And since I already have the 8293 set too, then all the more value for my dollar. :)

I guess it really comes down to what you want from your Lego experience. I like a decent build like everyone, but it has to function reasonably well as a toy too, because I don't just buy them for me, it's for the kids as much as anything. My eldest is starting to like the Technic stuff, but still spends far more time mucking about with the Town or Star Wars stuff, because they have infinitely more stories to tell than a forklift does.

Of course, when you can mix both worlds, like the motorized AT-AT, well that's just perfect :D

That is one awesome tank. I've always been impressed with MOC's especially microscale ones as it takes a lot more creativity to make something with less parts that something huge with the freedom of having a multitude of pieces.

Bravo to that creator. Love the use of the binocular piece and making a round rubber wheel stretched to tank treads.

Its the boulder blaster power miners kit 8707, just wondering if anyone has this issue or if it meant to be a little loose.

Fungal Infection
23rd December 2009, 12:36 PM
I've got this set and the treads should be loose enough so that they fit over the wheel rims but not tight enough to be totally snug. In other words, there is a bit of droop on the tread but not enough that it will actually fall off the rim. This is normal as far as I can tell since I have this same issue with other sets which utilise this set up. If you place the Boulder Blaster on a solid surface like a table, you'll find the problem is less noticable.

Starscream212
23rd December 2009, 03:03 PM

Linky (http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=38496)

drool material!

that castle looks like an exact copy of the 1985ish lion Heart Castle.
I love the way they are paying homage to the 80s in some of the sets they are releasing. and how cool are the new knight helmets!!
