Go to www.botcon.com (http://www.botcon.com) to register for attendees only.
(More important for attendees who want to get in to the classes, tours etc.

Hold up. Only attendees can register at the moment.

Registered. Missed out on custom classes again. Looks like it was active from around 7am Brisbane time (according to date stamps on tfw2005).
No one else here going then?
After recent years with record numbers, this is a surprisingly big turnaround.
This would be the first time I'd be going as the only other known Australian. (all previous years I've been, there were other people I knew, or knew of - and 2006 had no Aussies at all)
Keep an eye out for non-attendee sets next week then.

Oh nuts. Sent you a message as soon as I saw the tweet but obviously still not quick enough.
Last year they were clearer beforehand that non-attending registration would be later. This time they didn't say so until after the fact (that I saw).

As of yesterday, my wife and I decided we are going to BotCon! So there will be an Australian contingent of at least... well... you and me (she's a British citizen.) Thus, any of your seasoned BotCon-going advice and company would be fantastic.

I wonder how many of us messaged Griffin..?

I don't suppose that I can impose on you & ask you to get me some of the attendee figures could I?

Finally... someone else from here is going this year.
Are your dates and accommodation sorted?
And if you haven't already, make sure the wife is fully registered, even if she doesn't go into the convention.... it will give you an extra set of figures & attendee figures to sell off to others here - it'll cover the cost of her registration, and maybe even make back a little of your other expenses (depending on how much extra you charge).
Do you want to start up a meet topic in case someone else jumps onto the convention this year, or just converse privately for now while we are the only two going?

At the moment nothing is set in stone (dates, accomodation, etc.) except that we've registered for BotCon itself. We'll be flying from the UK, so looking into that at the moment. Whatever you think in terms of chat - either way works for me. Hopefully it's still possible that other BotCon-going OTCAers will appear out of the aether or decide they're free to go.

As soon as I work out what I'm doing, I'll let you know, FB.

How much do the sets cost? I don't have the Internet connected at the moment so I'm posting from my phone

Last year:
$89 USD for the three pack troop builders
$89 USD for a voyager/deluxe set
$92 USD for a voyager/deluxe set
Attendee figure Priceless. (Or about $100-150 from dealers)
Edit: That's "at BotCon one per person from the Club store" prices. On eBay expect up to double that plus postage.

As much as I want to sign up for a non-attending pack, I remember how poorly I was treated by the club when I was a member and how after 6 years they still can't ship internationally correctly.
Rather trust a forum or eBay seller,

There is a possibility that I might go. But I am still working out my dates.

Hey - I'm now un-going to BotCon due to finances and my wife needing to remain in the UK throughout April, so it looks like the Aussie contingent is back down to... just Griffin again? Sorry to let down the team. Oddly, despite their usual mercenary attitude, the TFCC seem to have refunded my money, so that is something.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe another year then.
It's been a while not playing host/guide to other Aussies... or not having others to easily reflect on the days events to (with a room sharer).
(it'll also mean it will be more difficult to buy extra stuff for people too)

Sorry to hear that sky shadow, maybe next year...
I think their policy has always been to happily refund, they just won't change a primus pack into a iacon package. to avoid having tonnes of "attendees" not turn up at the last minute.
