Well, we're a week into 2012 and I thought now might be a good time to find out what we're all looking forward to, and what we'd like to see this year in terms of new Transformers toys.
So here you go fembots and gentlecons, feel free to expand on your answers (one word answers aren't very excite). :)
1) What single toy are you most looking forward to (that's already been confirmed eg. TFP Voyager Starscream)?
2) What single toy are you praying comes out in 2012?
3) Are you excited about the Transformers Prime toys hitting Australia?
4) Are you interested in any of this years Botcon toys?
5) Do you think 2012 will be a good year for Transformers toys in general?
6) Do you have any Transformer toy goals in 2012?

1) What single toy are you most looking forward to (that's already been confirmed eg. TFP Voyager Starscream)? Not the faintest clue what's coming out this year.
2) What single toy are you praying comes out in 2012? Henkei Rhinox!
3) Are you excited about the Transformers Prime toys hitting Australia? No.
4) Are you interested in any of this years Botcon toys? Nope.
5) Do you think 2012 will be a good year for Transformers toys in general? As long as the technology and designs continues to progress, then yes. But from what I've seen of the Prime toys, they're a step sideways from the movie toys, perhaps even backwards, instead of forward.
6) Do you have any Transformer toy goals in 2012? To avoid buying any BW related BotCon toys.
Sorry to be so negative.

I would sound negative too. Just say that since there has been very little of interest announced, I am seeing this year as kind of bleak.
The best I can hope for is for confirmation that Henkei/Classics will continue with new mold revelations.

1. Probably deluxe Prime Ratchet. Assuming he looks as good as the other toys.
2. Like, anything? Generations Ironfist.
3. Yeah I am. Bulkhead, Skyquake, Knockout, Arcee, Cliffjumper and more Cyberverse stuff. Yeahhh.
4. The boxset? Half and half. The "rumour" list of at show exclusives sounds pretty great and I might be tempted to track a couple of them down.
5. Dunno! It sure as Hell won't be bad though. We'll see what happens after Toy Fair and Botcon I guess.

An interesting topic DD, here it goes :):
The single toy that I'm most looking forward to (That's been confirmed) would be Transformers: Prime - Deluxe Class Soundwave as it's a figure that achieves so much for it's size class; technicality, show accuracy, gimmick homages and overall style. ;)
The single toy that I'm praying comes out in 2012 is a fully fledged Beasts Wars tribute figure; be it a proper attempt at a Classicsverse BW figure or a Masterpiece BW figure, I'd just be really chuffed with a proper form of recognition for this franchises saviour - I'd even be really satisfied if a new BW-inspired Transformers: Prime character/figure were produced that really embodied the spark of Beast Wars. :o
Am I excited about the Transformers: Prime toys hitting Australia... Honestly?, not really; If DOTM is anything to go by we are likely to be completely left in the lurch, especially considering the state of Australian retail at the moment and with specific regard to the absolute brainless pairing between Hasbro AU and the likes of Big W, Kmart, Target etc.
Am I interested in any of this year's BOTCON toys... NO!; FunPub have reached new levels of dramatically poor execution and the silly prices attached to the current crop is purely ego grooming for the convention organiser.
I think 2012 should be a good year for Transformers toys in general as the franchise and HasTakTom will be forced to once again revert to putting their focus on toys and not big Hollywood films; Transformers: Prime is shaping up to be an excellent candidate for taking the torch and moving Transformers forward, but I get the distinct feeling that we are unlikely to experience this as much in Australia as the rest of the world is likely to, due to the very poor exposure both TF: Prime and the franchise in general receives here - That is, of course, unless you can afford Pay TV and are actively interested in the franchise enough to want to spend some time investigating it online: as for Australia, online will be the only truly substantial avenue we'll have for anything Transformers.
My Transformers toy goals for 2012 would have to be to hopefully complete both Beast Wars II and Beast Wars Neo lines of figures; it's a lofty goal, and in certain instances quite an expensive goal, but something that appears to me a little bit more readily possible to achieve than to say.. Complete US/UK G1; that I regard as a slightly more long term goal... :D

6) Do you have any Transformer toy goals in 2012?1: Alternity Goldbug. He's out but he's really limited and so pretty costly, and he'll go great with MP10.
Honorable mention to Voyager Skyquake, since it's been a while since we saw a decent Skyquake.
2: A Takara Voyager Henkei Ultra Magnus. Would also be happy with a Hasbro reissue of Classics Mirage, and/or a nice Voyager Rhinox. Not very hopeful on any of them.
3: No. I live in Japan.:D
Enjoy them though, I've got a 1st Edition Cliffjumper and going by him it looks to be a good toyline.
4: Nope.
5: Unsure, though I doubt it'll compare to some of the CHUGUR gems we've gotten over the past two years.
6: A few Prime bits and pieces, Alternity Goldbug, and whatever bargains I find along the way. It'd be nice to get my Metals X-9 repaired and prettied up after his last owner did a poor customising job on him.
EDIT - Just got a Classics Mirage, Car Robots Gelshark, and Space Pirate Seacon set with the gestalt parts. They year's off to a good start.:D

Great reading so far guys, let's keep this going! :D
There's a lot of Beast Wars love here so I hope they release something to keep you lot happy. I get the feeling Classics Cheetor & Dinobot didn't really hit the mark (please correct me if I'm wrong), so Hasbro still owes the BW fans something really special. While I'm not a fan of the original designs, I've really enjoyed how BW character/s were incorporated into Animated and, more recently, Prime. Before seeing organic Transformers in these post-BW shows I thought I simply didn't like the whole Transforming animals/bugs concept but I think a lot of it simply boils down to me not liking the art direction in Beast Wars.
So I for one really hope they continue to add Beast Wars characters in Prime, we saw two BW's characters in the Animated show so I expect to see four in Prime. :p

1)TFC exclusive of runamuck and runabout is about the most exciting stuff to look forward too atm
2)Scout sized minibots for the CHUG line
3)Im looking forward to deluxe Cliffjumper for the whole purpose of putting him in with my CHUG stuff after a few modifications otherwise nothing excites me from Prime
4)I have no interest in the shattered glass-verse so the botcon toys are a very easy pass, that and i dont think they look any good.
5)at the moment i think 2012 will be a very dull year, but i have a feeling we might have something to brighten our darkest hour by the middle of the year.
6)Finishing off my Stunticon/Menasor custom.

1) What single toy are you most looking forward to ?
DOTM Deluxe Leadfoot.
2) What single toy are you praying comes out in 2012?
DOTM Dino, one that is actually a Transformer.
3) Are you excited about the Transformers Prime toys hitting Australia?
No.
4) Are you interested in any of this years Botcon toys?
Soundwave looks cool, but would not buy it.
5) Do you think 2012 will be a good year for Transformers toys in general?
No. It'll mostly be Prime and most of the DOTM toys are poorly done compared to previous years.
6) Do you have any Transformer toy goals in 2012?
Finish DOTM collecting and that's it, I've got all the TFs I wanted except for a few older odd figures here and there - but my main collection is about done.

1. Im pretty much excited for any of the Prime toyline but I like the sound of the upcoming voyagers skyquake and starscream.
2. Um I have no clue :P
3. As I said in 1, I am very excited for the Transformers Prime toyline :)
4. Pretty much all of them look great to me, would really love to get my hands on SG Soundwave. Don't get me wrong I wouldnt buy them personally but if someone gave them to me... I wouldnt complain :P
5. Yeah I guess so, yet again im excited about prime so 2012 looks good for me.
6. Not really... I want to spend less money on transformers... but I want to add more to my collection. Maybe to keep collecting but to slow it down a bit.

I'd love you to elaborate on your thoughts on the art direction.
You may regret asking this. :p
With Beast Wars, they went too organic looking for my liking. I understand that they're robots in disguise and the alt modes should be accurately portraying a rat, cheetah etc. but in Beast Wars, that came at the expense of a decent robot mode. They're damn ugly and not in a good way! :p Most of them are very round, sometimes to the point where arms and legs look like a couple of overgrown chipolatas strung together. The colours might look okay on one toy but throw a few together in the mix and you've got the magic mushroom squadron from Psychadelic City. And then you've got the head molds...Oh dear. And how about those alt modes! Do they look so incredibly amazing to justify the often lacking robot modes? Two words: PLASTIC FUR
I'm sorry, I tried to be diplomatic but just like some people dislike the Animated aesthetic, I dislike the Beast Wars look. :p

1) What single toy are you most looking forward to (that's already been confirmed eg. TFP Voyager Starscream)? Deluxe DOTM Wheeljack
2) What single toy are you praying comes out in 2012? Deluxe DOTM Mirage
3) Are you excited about the Transformers Prime toys hitting Australia? "Excited is hardly the word I would use." -- my faith in them coming out here has been shaken, so I've already started getting them from overseas. So by time they come out here I can't say I'd be excited... I'd be happy, but not overtly thrilled.
4) Are you interested in any of this years Botcon toys? Meh... not really. I'll get one if I can get it cheap enough (as always is my policy with any toy ;))
5) Do you think 2012 will be a good year for Transformers toys in general? I don't think it will be an especially great or terrible year
6) Do you have any Transformer toy goals in 2012? Finish DOTM (give me Mirage!!) and Prime.

I don't really want to debate personal opinions Gok, and don't for a minute think I'm speaking for any one other than myself or that I think "my opinion rules so if I deem something unworthy it is not worth anyone's time". A lot of you guys love the original Beast Wars designs and I completely respect that. It's just not for me.

1) What single toy are you most looking forward to (that's already been confirmed eg. TFP Voyager Starscream)?
Probably TF:Prime deluxe Wheeljack
2) What single toy are you praying comes out in 2012?
A Generations Deluxe Trailbreaker.
And if they do some of the Fall of Cybertron Dinobots, they do them all!
3) Are you excited about the Transformers Prime toys hitting Australia?
Yes, I've jumped the gun and imported the preview wave and enjoyed each. The line is good and the shelves need a break from the Bay-verse toys.
4) Are you interested in any of this years Botcon toys?
Yes. I wanted a (back of the box art) Red Tracks since the RTS toy came out. I like the general idea and look of Overlord. And Treadshot is a good toy to repurpose as Side Swipe and a good colour scheme for the toy too. Some of the other rumours are interesting too.
5) Do you think 2012 will be a good year for Transformers toys in general?
Unsure at the moment. The 'movie trilogy' line is a bit vague and the Prime line may suffer from too few show characters. (Already two deluxe Bumblebees and two deluxe Cliffjumper by Wave 1). The Fall of Cybertron toys could have potential or could be three of four figures in the latest Generations line. And there doesn't seem to be a hint of new Kre-o toys.
6) Do you have any Transformer toy goals in 2012?
Being more selective in what I purchase, and what I keep. I have lost the desire to have a full set of anything. The other goal is to get a full shelf display set up in my spare room.

-I think it would have to be DOTM Wheeljack (i can't exactly remember whats coming out this year?
2) What single toy are you praying comes out in 2012?
-Can we please have a Human Alliance Topspin, with armour... OR detatchable armour OR how about armour which can be transformerd back into vehicle mode - another "triple changer" i guess if thats what they classified ROTF Mixmaster as.
3) Are you excited about the Transformers Prime toys hitting Australia?
- It's always exciting to see new transformers out on the shelves in Australia. Don't know if I will pick many up though.
4) Are you interested in any of this years Botcon toys?
-No
5) Do you think 2012 will be a good year for Transformers toys in general?
-I'd like to think so, they've got 12 months to surprise us with.
6) Do you have any Transformer toy goals in 2012?
-Human Alliance Barricade
-Predaking - possibly with add-ons
-Devastator - another with possible add-ons

1) What single toy are you most looking forward to (that's already been confirmed eg. TFP Voyager Starscream)?
Ive been out of the loop for sometime now with keeping tabs of what's to be issued ( I blame it on the non interest in movie toys) so I really dont have ideas other than the line (TF Prime) will come out. But that's a good thing for me as I wont have to expect much and get disappointed if I miss out. If it's a really good toy then , surprise!! hehehe
2) What single toy are you praying comes out in 2012?
Encore Overlord hehehehe...
3) Are you excited about the Transformers Prime toys hitting Australia?
Oh Yes, i do hope though that we get better wave assortment since were already paying by the nose for these, just hate it when they put only 1 figure and then the rest is all Bumblebees
4) Are you interested in any of this years Botcon toys?
I am but being too pricy and hard to get Im not too fussed. But I am interested in Metalhawk in particular.
well, also the giveaway toy - Runamuck and Runabout, but yeah being exclusives just ruins it for me as I know Ill pay in blood, sweat and tears just to get it. Im not all into that much effort just to get these toys..
5) Do you think 2012 will be a good year for Transformers toys in general?
Yes. Tf Prime is coming and Im sure there's going to be more since we know Hasbro likes it's gimmicks they can't just run the line with just one , hope fully there be more generations (whatever incarnation or line tag it's gonna be called) figures with G1 homage. I also hope they come up with newer reissues for Encore line - not just reissues of toys already reissued for the umpteenth time (Prime, Bumblebee).
6) Do you have any Transformer toy goals in 2012?
Sigh, same as last year an affordable Overlord and Metalhawk as well the rest of the stuff I have in my sig hehehe
Oh and add Encore Predaking (like the gold plastic) to that list...

Ah goodo. :) Out of interest, when you watched that Prime episode I recommended, did you watch any of the following episodes which show the Decepticon Breakdown? I can imagine an awesome toy using his mold as a Botcon Rhinox, say if they did another Dawn of Future's Past type set. What do you think?
1) What single toy are you most looking forward to (that's already been confirmed eg. TFP Voyager Starscream)?
I'm with Hursti on this one, TFP Deluxe Soundwave all the way! I'm hopeful this guy will be a tall deluxe like TFA Lockdown, this will put him in scale with the others and negate the need for a Voyager class. There's really not much meat to this character so deluxe should be more than adequate, and I imagine that like TFA Soundwave, he'll come with Laserbeak (there's really no excuse for it not to, Laserbeak IS part of the character more than he's ever been).
2) What single toy are you praying comes out in 2012? Commander Class Classics Sharkticon. Later to be repainted into a battle damaged variant!
3) Are you excited about the Transformers Prime toys hitting Australia? I really enjoyed the latter half of the Transformers Prime show and am now extremely excited about the toys! I haven't seen any IRL but like Animated, they seem to do a great job of capturing their on-screen selves which is brilliant to see.
4) Are you interested in any of this years Botcon toys? Not so much the box set toys but I'm still excited to see the other exclusives. I was initially excited about Treadshot as I thought he'd make a good stand in Nightbeat but after looking at my darker Chinese G1 Nightbeat, the blue doesn't even match up to him. :( I really hope Octopunch
turns out well as I love the G1 toy and I think the chosen mold could really work for him!
5) Do you think 2012 will be a good year for Transformers toys in general?
I'm pretty optimistic about Transformers toys in 2012. Can't wait to get my hands on the Prime toys and anything else is a bonus really!

A big chunky armored jeep thing? For sure!
I didn't like the construction-esk forms of the 2006 DOFP figures, especially Dinobot, and I don't think I'm alone there. When I get my own pre-BW comic published, I'll keep the mold in mind when Don Figueroa asks what I think Rhinox should look like

1) What single toy are you most looking forward to (that's already been confirmed eg. TFP Voyager Starscream)?
I suppose that the Voyager starscream would be what i'm most looking forward to, if the deluxe engineering is as awesome as they say, how good is the Voyager mould going to be!!?
Also looking forward to the Deluxe Soundwave, the concept of a Predator as a well designed transformers toy is very exciting.
2) What single toy are you praying comes out in 2012?
DOTM leader Megatron I think, This character needs an earth mode leader toy to match the ROTF Prime.
I really like the idea of a re-issue Overlord too.
3) Are you excited about the Transformers Prime toys hitting Australia?
Hell Yes. I love the show, and I'm enjoying the aesthetic. I really hope we get the First edition released here as I want to support these guys being released in australia. If they don't turn up here, I'll be putting in a bbts order post haste.
4) Are you interested in any of this years Botcon toys?
Sort of, I was initially a bit nonplussed but the box set is growing on me and so are the other rumoured exclusives. the thought of the Soundwave having the issues of ironhide and ratchet fixed is very interesting and the seperate headband sounds really interesting too. Overall while I'm not familiar with many of the characters especially the pretender homages, I like most of the moulds they are using a lot.
I also think this bodes well for future Botcon sets in that we finally have no Unicron Trilogy toys in this years set at all, all classics/ish which makes me think the next few years worth of Botcon toys are going to at least be fantastic moulds.
5) Do you think 2012 will be a good year for Transformers toys in general?
I think so, especially with the Prime toys coming out, it's a line with great potential, in all size classes, I just hope it lives up to that potential.
As for the Follow up movie trilogy toys, hoepfully we see some more standouts that we may not have heard of yet, especially in the larger Human alliance scale.
6) Do you have any Transformer toy goals in 2012?
several:
As I've mentioned I have a huge backlog of unopened toys:
1) Gradually open up all of my remaining animated Transformers and put them on display. Part of this will be to start a review blog. something I've never done but I think I'm in a fairly unique position to do this with the animated line since more than 80 % of my figures are still MISB.
2) Get hold of some transformers Prime toys
3) set up a bit of a photo studio/lightbox in the garage and do some transformers photography. this ties in with my review plans. I also plan to use this space as s workshop, hopefully finally doing a couple Transformers customs.
4)re-populate my display cabinet since moving.
5) finish my distance learning course and finally get hold of my set aside till I finish it Transformers.
6) Spend some time with transformers I have already opened up, appreciate what I already have.
