As per the title, after 8 months of searching I was finally successfull.
Had an interview on Tuesday for an IT Position with a large New Zealand company doing similar work to the job I left in June. Today I got the call saying I was succesfull and that I start on Monday.
Because I couldn't give work references, I do have a 3 month trial period but once that is over they are then stuck with me.
*So happy*
Goes off to order some plastic crack now that my savings plans are no longer required

Because of the way I was forced out.
I didn't want to speak to my manager or his manager or HR and when I did go in to collect my personal items I was escorted out of the building before I could chat to the other person who could have been a work reference.

Congratulation! I am happy for you and I am sure you will feel a lot better as it must have been very stressful to have been unemployed for so long.
Great stuff!

Thanks for the kind words.
I must admit that being unemployed wasn't as bad as it could have been. Granted I was a tad sheltered from the real world effects as I had my parents to fall back on (I owe them just under $1000) and wasn't paying proper rent/power/food etc during the time (only board and internet)
Plus I had some awesome sales that helped me out
Probably around October I was worried about things, but then I got the unemployment benefit which took a lot of my worries from me

Congrats Zippo. Hopefully you are treated better there than your last place. Must be a real weight removed knowing you will start having a income again.

Congratulations Zippo, very glad to hear that some good luck has finally come your way as it is one thing just to crack into the I.T. industry; It's just as hard , if not harder, getting back into it. ;):D

That's an awesome news at the moment when mainstream news are stuffed with Eurocrisis and weak job market and sliding consumer confidence. Well done and congratulations! Sometimes a long wait means you'll only get something much better and worthy. Being "forced out" by that awful previous employer sounds like a good thing really.
Only downside is that we won't be seeing as many awesome sales from you I guess ;)

I used to get paid bi-weekly and recently monthly. It took some getting used to as you have to re-organize your finances and habits around it. It was easier to balance out toys, savings and living costs bi-weekly. You have to be careful as it can be easy to over spend on a monthly salary.

I've had a monthly salary since I got out of Uni, you'll get used to it, just to avoid 2 minute noodles for a week every month. As cool as these new Prime toys are going to be, they probably won't be edible.:D

Congratulations Zippo :)
It annoys me when I see people not taking their jobs seriously when there are so many other people - highly skilled people, legitimately seeking employment (general rant).
