I mean it, Good luck.
I am getting errors, tried three times and it states card unknown? Tried calling your hotline and nothing
I'm getting a bit worried and regretting I joined...
Bah. Had 2 cards rejected :'( These things are expensive enough without having to make an international phone call too to sort it out.
Placed 2 orders both came back with errors.
I'm getting the same thing as Frank. Error with card: unknown? I checked the card and it is fine.
So if our card was "declined" and all of us have to call in to get it corrected, is there any way to actually get the order in? Glitches happen, but this kind of error is pretty ridiculous
Tried 3 times still getting error messages
Gah! Card processing error!!! And the phones are engaged... am i unlucky or are there many issues? Oh, and shipping for 3 is MORE than an iacon set???
I am also having card processing errors
Having issues as well with error on card
Card processing error for me too
I am also having card processing errors, on two different cards.
I've tried 3 times same message
Hopefully some people here are getting their group orders processed ok. I don't regret sitting this one out.

I wonder if it is errors are with the cards they have on file, or if the Club is rejecting orders placed on Credit Cards that aren't on file (as a "security" measure).
Not that it'd make much difference if they are the source of the lost Card details...
Anyway - direct links for those ordering...

Everything is a pre-order, for a scheduled release of "within 4 weeks of Feb 29th".
T-shirts are $20 for S-XL, and $22 for XXL & XXXL
T-shirts will only be produced to fill pre-orders. If you really want one, get onto a current member, to see if they can add one to their toy pre-order. They may make some extras, but don't count on it (sales after pre-orders are pretty much non-existent).
Thanks Deonasis for the Wake up call on this. :)

Oh, and for those (like me) who were upset about having one of the Battlecharger duo in fancy packaging (Runabout), and the other in a baggie (Runamuck)... The box for Runabout will have two spaces in the foam insert to hold both (and are both on the cover) (https://twitter.com/#%21/The_TF_Club/status/164019379489615873/photo/1).

I had an error... possibly because I CAN'T use the card on file, thanks to it being cancelled due to details being stolen.
So now I have to wait until their office is open in about another 14 hours.
And if I have to fax through a copy of a new card for their files, it won't be processed until they re-open anyway.
I hate the way they do that EVERY TIME - open up pre-orders and registration just after they closed for the day or week, and everyone who has a problem, has to wait days or hours, and miss out.

Is it just me, or did they just remove the two toys from their Club Store?
I just tried to redo the order, and neither of them are there. The Tshirts still are though.
Perhaps to suspend orders until they can fix up the processing issue?
It sounds like it is the credit card processing company that is the problem... But I still don't like the way this is playing out. Nor do I like the timing, so that people can't even call in their problems, despite being told that that is the only way to respond to the error (in the error message).

From The Club Facebook page:
The problem is not with our server but rather with the company who processes the credit card charges. Their system is bottlenecking as multiple transactions are hitting them in the same moment of time. We will resume pre-orders as soon as we solve this problem. We apologize for the inconvenience. It will most likely be in the morning before we have a solution worked out. Thank you for your enthusiasm. You guys are too powerful for earth technology! :-)

It'd be nice if they communicated what they did, before people trying to order start assuming that they were both already sold out. What is the point of having a live twitter feed, if they don't mention why they were taken down... to reassure people who are panicking already from several failed order attempts.

If they couldn't handle that many from a "surprise" opening of pre-orders, just how many do you think it will be flooded with per-second tomorrow now that everyone knows about it, and is already in a panic.
Annoying thing is that it could be anytime "their" tomorrow... which could be from 5 hours away to 24. That could suck if they re-open preorders while any of us people doing group-orders are at work, and they sell out in that 8-9 hours we're away from home.
Drift will be fine... but Runabout is the great unknown.

Yeah, I guess without twitter, it would have been longer for the word to circulate through websites and emails. And I guess the decision to pull the two listings would have needed to be acted on before notifying people of the decision, as the other way around would have delayed the process and caught out even more people in the meantime.

I would too. It is clear that there is a huge amount of people trying to get this figure (server crashed because it can't handle 8-10 transactions per second).
So as soon as preorders re-open and assuming there are no technical issues, I suspect that all stock will be sold within the first couple of minutes.

Thinking about the sales rush today, I would suggest they consider something like this:
Stage one: Members presale
All club members have the opportunity to preorder one (1) each of any exclusive toy offered by the club. The presale lasts for a week. Plenty of time for all the members to get in. Each members gets a guaranteed chance to purchase the figure, an added benefit to being a member. No need to rush in or hover over twitter or facebook.
Stage two: Second change
An additional set of figures, including any not claimed by members, are available to be added to the order. A maximum of 2 additional purchases per item per member. This stage begins one week exactly after the stage one begins, allowing certainty. There would be still be a rush but the restriction would stop or slow down scalpers.
Stage three: Surplus sale
One week later, any surplus toys become available. No limits. Members have had two weeks to get at most 3 of each item, but if they want more (such as for friends on their messageboards ;)) this is their chance. This is the quick sale event and it's not guaranteed that any stock will be available. The time/date would be a certain though so the quickfire and very motivated sellers can be ready and would have had two weeks to prepare (take time off work etc etc). The items remain for sale from this point until sold out.
Drift is the 'Bot of Banter'? They trying to make a Transformer Deadpool or something??
Well, yes that's the whole joke. Shattered Glass Drift is Deadpool. :o

Received this email:
In order to facilitate the volume of our web sites, we are having to change to a new credit card processing company. We hope to have this up and running sometime on Wednesday. However in the mean time, we will be putting the store back online this afternoon but you will not be able to place an order until the transition is complete.
We are putting the store back online so that you can log in and check your account to see if you have a valid order. You can also log in currently at the member's only site and if you look at the third paragraph on the page, there is a link to check your orders.
If you do not see an order in your account for the excusives, you do not have an order for the club exclusives and will need to reprocess one when we go live. Because of the change in processors, we cannot work the incomplete orders and fix them, you will have to order again. As stated in an earlier email, we have only sold 20% of the pieces so there are still plenty.
Thanks for your understanding and support.

I wouldn't worry too much, I'll be up at 6 tomorrow checking twitter and email. That 20 % that has been ordered are probalby the super keen 20% as they beat us to the punch. the remaining 80% won't sell as quick, it will still be quick but I'd say there will be at least a few hour window.
griffin
1st February 2012, 02:30 PM
It was up for at least an hour before they pulled it... with sporadic orders going though. I guess it comes down what proportion those successful orders were in that hour or so.
To be honest though, if it sells out before it is released in 4-8 weeks time, it is a success. Yet, they're staring at a sell-out in just a day, maybe two... suggesting just how much more they could have been producing.
Because the moment these sell out, toy dealers and ebay sellers are going to be putting up pre-orders for at least twice what they paid. (Punch is rocketed up to $150-200, and currently commands $200-300 on ebay)
I'd much rather see a limit placed on these as Paulbot suggested. 2 or 3 each would cover people here, and would allow more fans get them at the already inflated price, instead of missing out to toy dealers who've bought 10 or so (whatever the limit is).
UltraMarginal
1st February 2012, 02:48 PM
that idea has merrit but the amount of money that us sydney siders are saving with a group ordre is quite significant. one at a time would make it hard to justify the postage expense. At the moment, I'm ordering 9 which will mean that the $20 deposit I asked for should cover most of the local postage as well, if not all of it.
the club doesn't have a POL, so seperate orders woiuld most likely be processed seperately.
griffin
1st February 2012, 03:09 PM
Yeah, I know... it'd suck for anyone outside of America... but then so does everything else they charge us for. I was just thinking about the cost difference people here and there would have to pay if they miss out on the pre-orders, thanks to too many toy dealers buying up big (like they did with Punch - it would have given the sydney people for that one, a better chance at getting one under $200, even if it meant paying a little more for shipping).
Tetsuwan Convoy
1st February 2012, 03:17 PM
Indeed the saving on postage is huge, despite the fact they will always overcharge us on it. But the fact of the matter remains that this is a Transformers Club, with a paid membership, so I think it's fair to assume that members should be able to get first dibs.
I don't want to be all elitist here and I have no problem with the ordering for others that aren't club members at all, but the exclusive toys and stuff are there to promote the club and make it seem like that joining the club is a good thing. Just making the toys a limited run just makes TFCC another bunch of guys making Transformers, although these ones are licensed. And considering how after they have sold out on the club shop, I will eb able to go to BBTS and get some, kind of defeats the purpose of having the club a bit doesn't it? Just like how they release the Botcon comics afterwards with extra stuff after the Botcon! Shouldnt the CLUB maga have all the good stuff? not the one released after? Anyway, getting a bit off topic here. Sorry.
Currently that's all they are really, as the magazine is somewhat poor, the messageboard very poor and their member auction site was full of KOs when I last looked. Not very good for an 'Official club.'
In a perfect world, Paulbot's idea would be there and since they are pre-orders the option to combine orders would make life sweet.

Yeah in my idea you wouldn't pay postage until the end, or it would be reduced rate based on the total you eventually order, as you are adding to an open (pre)order. But in the ideal world international shipping would be cheaper too.
But the fact of the matter remains that this is a Transformers Club, with a paid membership, so I think it's fair to assume that members should be able to get first dibs.
And that's my concern with the current "get in-get as many as you can" approach, and the artifical demand it generates. I think every member should be able to order at least one, no matter how they work it out.

So according to their twitter feed, they are selling 2-1 between Runabout and Drift. Runabout being more popular wasn't a surprise, but the number of Drifts being sold surprised me... considering the lack of interest here at least.
Since both were half sold within the last half hour, if there are about 3000 Runabouts, I'd be guessing that there are probably 1500-1800 Drifts.
Since everyone has been waiting two days for the pre-orders to be re-opened, and expected it to be done at the same time of day, it's no surprise that they managed to sell 1000 units in under an hour. It would also mean a greater drop-off of orders now, as all those people have now purchased theirs.
If I didn't have to go back to sleep, I'd be keen to watch the twitter feed over the next few hours to see how the sales go now that the rush would be mostly over.

That is discussed here as well (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=12739)

According to their site, ID and CC scans/photocopies are only required for the first order of new foreign members, to verify that you are you. After you've been verified, it seems that you can use any CC at any time. (if their processing agent doesn't reject it)

Last figure quoted was 85% sold on Runabout an hour ago.
And the Drift sales were tracking close to it (but only about half as many appear to have been made).
did you make that!
that's great, love it.
Their twitter feed says its from issue 43 of the club mag - their membership toys are always featured in the current year's comic.

Both pretty much sold out in just about 24 hours.
And only 17 left of Drift - I'm really surprised that figure sold at all. There just doesn't seem to be anything selling it.
If I was just buying for myself and couldn't afford both at once, I really thought that Drift would be warming their shelves like Airazor, Astrotrain and Cheetor, to be able to buy it later when it could be afforded.
I hope everyone who was planning on ordering these were successful (or were not off the internet for the last few days to not even know).

Crap. It was down when I checked yesterday, and sold out today.
They really should have produced more of these, so that club members had a fair chance of purchasing.

Shall have to track down a set of the Run twins on eBay for opening purposes and I guess Drift eventually when I have some income.

I too am surprised by the Drift Sell out. I guess piggy-backing off of Marvel's Deadpool pays off. Just like the 3rd Party groups and TF IP.
I still think its a sham that club members have to to in as quick as everyone else to score some. Especially since I have a feeling that a good amount will show up at BBTS and Robotkingdom...

it is a bit, but you also still really need to be a club member, non-member prices for these things is almost double the member price. though I suppose if you could make $20 profit each off reselling 5 of these you could happily cover your membership.
limiting numbers to 1 or 2 per member purchase would make it very expensive for international members, but having an exception for international members allows many online retailers to also buy up.
a double edged sword...

I ordered my membership after I think they upgraded. When I went to buy it, they said they were doing maintenance or something. Then I ordered it a few days later, so far no problems. I still do not trust sending a scan of my CC or drivers license.

This isn't directly related, but I'm going to ask anyway as I'm about to sign up. I know I can purchase using Visa/Mastercard/Amex and while I use my Amex & Mastercard all the time, I rarely use my Visa. I'll use that.
What sort of "verification" measures do they need - I hear the word "fax" here & am wondering exactly what I might need to fax? I ask in terms of the security of sending CC and other ID info internationally.

You don't need to fax anything, D - I have been a member since year one and have never sent them a facsimile. The 'fax' thing for international customers is just in their automated reply - ignore it - like many things TFCC related (including some antiquated bits of their website) it's just something they wrote once and never changed. They want your money, they're not going to 'deny' you membership if you don't fax them your details. And it's ironic that the credit card fraud is happening somewhere at their end, not from us dodgy internationals. :p

That's good to hear.
I don't really mind the CC since I work for a bank and can easily get that sorted, but I do object to having to fax photo ID. "Here Mr disgrunted overseas company employee. Have a copy of my passport details. Please sell to some Kazakhstani mafia type". There's no good reason why they should need a copy of ID (especially if they'd get with the 00's and accept PayPal like... every web-based merchant who wants to look at all professional).
I've already decided that once I get my Runamuck, my CC is being stopped and replaced, cos I have no confidence in this mob protecting customer data. And I have no interest in being a member for membership's sake.

The faxing of ID & Credit Card is NOT required when purchasing a membership... it is only required for your first purchase form their online store (at their discretion - so apparently isn't enforced these days).

When I wrote to them they said it was mandatory. Probably not in a practical sense but it does seem to still be part of their policy.

That's amazing, if true.
They originally quoted "within 4 weeks of Feb 29th", which often means end of March (making it April before they end up in this country).
That would mean that they would have had the toys in hand or at Hasbro by the time the pre-orders were up 12 days ago. They always post up pre-orders 2-4 months before release, to effectively pay for the toys before they are even made.
These may well arrive to people here within the next 3 weeks...
...post up your shipping amounts if they are on the box, compared to what you were charged.

mates,
Just putting this out there as it seemed to have occurred to a number of people.
The Credit Card that I used to register for TFCC, pay for the box set and pay for Over-run has been fradulently used.
Bank called me this morning and there were 2 fradulent transactions, which they say were similar in pattern to other cardholders in HK (HSBC Premier Mastercard).
[1] "Strawberry.net" - USD$417
[2] "Merchandise" - USD$589
Just beware.

Some positive news aside from all the super dodgey Credit Card Transactions going on.. so far my account is fine, luckily.
Just recieved an email from the club,
Paraphrasing:the Exclusive toys have arrived ahead of schedule and so they are shipping early. it will take approximately 2 weeks to ship them all, so don't worry if you haven't recieved shipping notice yet.
This is good news and good communication I think as I've started wondering where my shipping notice was. so could be up to a month or more before we get our lot shipped here.

How did the other group orders go with the shipping amounts?
What difference did you get between the quoted/paid amount and the actual amount on the box?
I was quoted/paid - US$165.25
The actual - US$109.10
Difference overcharged - US$56.15
Add to that, my last group order being overcharged - US$73.29
That's US$129.44 extra paid from just two orders... imagine how much extra they are making from every order.

I'll be interested to see how they do this time, last time I think it was a good $60 or more they overcharged. This time they have sent the order in two boxes.
Last year though I felt better as postage for the boton set ended up being more than the $40 I paid. Not much better mind you.

We don't scalp Collector Club toys here.
A handful of people in Australia have to do bulk orders for other fans here, because of how much FunPub overcharges us (outside of Nth America) on shipping.
We do it to help out others, usually without any profit from the ordeal.

My postage charge was 153.75
and the cost to ship was 103.48
keep in mind though that someone had to be paid to carefully wrap each one in paper and sort/stack them into boxes for shipping. In the case of my huge non scalpery shipment that's at least $10 labour.
griffin
15th March 2012, 02:58 PM
Labour costs are/should be covered in their product pricing, as all items are packed and shipped somewhere... even domestically. So unless they have a flat fee for labour for all orders, and specifically charge that fee (like they do for the BotCon processing fee) they shouldn't be charging more for shipping than it actually costs them.
After all, the only thing extra they have to do for our items over the Nth American ones, is to fill out a customs form. How much extra should they charge for that "labour"...

I asked FunPub about the over-charging (now that it is adding up to big dollars between us), and they said that after the membership cut-off of the 16th (they are being tied up with manual credit card processing), they will have a look on their records about it.
That's kind of a good and bad thing if they kept records of the actual shipping costs.
Good that they would know exactly how much to refund, without us having to prove it... but bad that they never thought to voluntarily refund the significant over-charged amounts if they kept a record of the amounts charged verses the amounts they paid the post office.
After all, if they knew that they needed to re-charge someone in the southern states a couple years ago a mere $10 extra after the package was posted, they must be checking everyone's orders to see how their actual shipping amount compared to what was originally charged. And if so, someone there was seeing a lot of money being over-paid, but didn't want to refund any of it.

If your invoice number is higher than 62851 your items will come in a few weeks. We appreciate your patience. If your invoice number is 62851 or lower, your shipment is on its way.
