Cool stuff, woulda preferred the clear white eyes and ripped muscles as per the original toys, these guys are so very cartoony which doesn't quite pull off the badassery factor.

I really like how they've emulated all the individual facial expressions ala the original toys :D

Link is dead so I cannot see the pain this may cause my wallet, but they are some very nice figures that would look very nice on my shelves...

Wonder if they are only doing these four, or if a more cartoon accurate splinter and Shredder could be on their way too.

Not sure what you're willing to pay but they can be had for around 30 bucks each off ebay now.
At some point they dropped down in price cause i remember them being pricey/rare for a good while too.

Thanks Kurdt, the images of the new 2012 line look very different, hopefully the cartoon will be of a similar quality to the 2003 series (lets pretend that Fast Forward didn't happen). Easy line of figures for me to skip.

No, I think these are the deluxe 10" figs I keep hearing about (I'm guessing by the lack of articulation).

This is definitely the main line (http://www.toyark.com/news/attach/6/9/tmnt1_1328112102.jpg) and I think they're only about 4" tall.

Playmates announced that if the 6" Classics sell well (the Turtles that is) then they will expand the line to see other characters from the 80s/90s cartoon and possibly the 90s movies too. That would be COOL!

How tall are these?

The ones with the pupil are the remade TMNT figures from '87 show.
The ones without the pupil are the TMNT from the new show that is coming out.
Notice the 3 (ugly) toes on the ones without the pupils. This is how you can tell that these are the new ones.

Bah too cartoony for me, very good if you really liked the cartoon though. The toon to me it was just a fad. they should come with accessories like barrels and manhole covers though, using actual edged weapons in the 80's turtle cartoon was a big nono after all.

As for these 2012 turtles, don't mind the pupil less ones as they seem to hark back to the comics with thick set legs and round faces, not really a Turtle fan anymore though.

Mainline (http://www.toyworldorder.com/2012/07/nickelodeon-teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-2012-from-playmates/) review

I'm tempted by the classics for pure sake of them being classics. Brig totally cartoon accurate is ok, but they over did it on the articulation which hinders the aesthetics a bit too much I.e the articulated fingers while nice, create too many seem lines. I'm undecided whether to pick them up, but probably will if I can find them at a reasonable price.

As for the mainline, after I saw the review- they are even better "classics" aka tf classics being great homages. The overall more
Comic styled bodies and the face/eyes really reminiscent of the vintage line. The extra spruce of weapons also really reminds me of the vintage.
The articulation is good and well hidden!

Honestly I think the mainline might me incidentally a better homage where th classics are merely cartoon portrayals. Might end up getting both, although don't know how far to go for other characters and vehicles if
I ever did go down that path.

Also the fact that bbts has restricted purchase to only the US- same with the thundercats. And eBay makes the purchase more work and with additional surcharge.

I totally missed out on the 2003 series but have since seen some episodes which were good. I was a diehard turtles kid back in the day an never even got any of the original raphael I wanted. I got the reissues a few years back at normal retail here- wasnt into collecting yet.

Saw your post, and did a quick buy on Amazon! got 1 of each classics,4 turtles from 2012 line, and vehicles: van (shellraiser), the 2 different bikes (sucker for the vehicles).

left out the other characters, but if I am impressed with the line in hand, will go and get more of them later. Thought of doubling up on the classics, but I will wait to see. If i like them, can always get a 2nd set later for MISB purposes. (same for the 2012 turtles- they look gorgeous!)

Received my box of TMNT from amazon... and while the shipping was cheap, it was at a cost. All the boxes were shoved in the box- all the cardbacks were ruined... I cant even keep them sealed now. Basically no protection, just the box and some paper- no wrap...

I did choose the cheapest shipping option- but not sure if they would go the better packing route with more expensive option.

Hmmm, I had an order with BBTS, $54 for the four turtles, but ended up cancelling it after they quoted me $60 shipping for 2 sets. Went for Amazon in the end and with shipping it ended up being cheaper.

I wonder now about the cheapness of the shipping. Am curoius ot know how everybody goes.

Unfortunately, you get what you pay for with Amazon shipping... so best only buy from their if you are opening your toys and don't care about the packaging. If you want Mint/Sealed packaging, pay extra by going to BBTS - they do a decent job.
Being an out-of-packaging collector myself, I don't mind being cheap on shipping if it means the backing cards are a bit damaged.

Yeah, it is a real simple fix but I have seen some reviews where they just painted over the pupils and it look pretty good. I don't know which way I am going to with it yet.

I will say though, they are pretty good figures when you get a feel for them, especially on how to get hem to hold their weapons.

Is anyone else seeing the pics as too big? I have resized them but it doesnt seem to be looking any different on my end.

I can't wait to get mine. From every review I've seen online, they look amazing. Most reviewers tend to think these are some of the best new action figures coming out. The only person who had a problem with them was Pixel-Dan, who didn't like their articulated fingers and toes. I reckon that's pretty sweet.

Considering Playmates haven't really done this sort of "classics" detailed line, and aren't really known for "articulated" figures, it looks like they've really done a great job with their first outing! Again, I'll have to wait to get them in hand to confirm it from my POV.

Don't get me wrong, I'm gonna pick up the new 2012 line as well, but these Classics are the best Turtles I've bought since the NECA line. Hell, they're just as good as MOTUC! Playmates really hit a home run!

And I think it's so awesome Raphael can hold his Sai between his fingers. and He even comes with Jite! Remember the old TMNT gum cards that said Raphael used Jite not Sai? Oh. I'm old.

Nice pics robzy!! What's that set you using for the background?

Just picked up mine from the PO Box today. My Don has derpy eyes.... But I have a feeling everybody else's does too. It looks as though My Mikey's eyes have been painted over twice. Still all in all they look VERY cool! Larger than I thought.

I also got the new turtles as well, they look great for little figures. Turns out I got the set of all released (except for April). Turtles look awesome, but the rest look a bit unarticulated.... Why no knees???? Krang even has ball looking joints, but no joints. Wha??

Those are awesome pics Robzy! I really like the Sewer Lair.

Thanks guys :) Yep, that's the 2002 TMNT Turtle Sewer Lair. It's an amazing little set actually - very versatile. The new 2012 Sewer Lair looks pretty amazing too.

Cool! I gotta get these. I know what you mean about the articulation - I've heard the Turtles are awesome, but the others are limited. Still, I think that's the style Playmates (for whatever reason) has always gone with when it comes to TMNT. Both the vintage and the 2002 lines were very "pre-posed" (almost like NECA figures) in battle stances. It's often bugged me, but the quality of the sculpts has always been the trade off - usually they're fantastic. I can't believe the new 2012 Turtles, for example, are all UNIQUE sculpts and not just retools. Wow  That's impressive.

I guess that's why, from an articulation POV, I'm so amazed by the Classics. It's not what Playmates usually do - but man, they did it well!

You know TB, you got me thinking that I know nothing about Sai and their usage, so after a half hour google and read up, I feel I can say this.

Sai seem to need 4 fingers and a thumb for correct handling, so Raph is immediately disadvantaged. However, not being one to let The Man get to my fave TMNT, I came up with this.

Very cool! that's how I wantmy Raphael to hold his Sai whe he gets here. From my "research" (Googling, actually living with people who practiced Martial arts and own sai) They're a defensive weapon and never actually used for stabbing.

Not that the TMNT use their bladed weapons for stabbing outside of the Mirage comics, anyhow.

Well the prices seem to be reasonably comparative to ours and they also offer a full range of postage prices to Australia, going off of Bebop anyway, so it could very well be an option for those in Aus looking to Preorder Bebop & Rocksteady.

Did they actually have Bebop and Rocksteady though? The classic turtles have been around for a while now.

Are we expecting Bebop and Rocksteady this year? I was under the impression they were wave 2 and we're only just now getting leftover wave 1 stuff. If so, sa-weet they are so bought on sight.

On another note, is there a 'nice' way to get the bubble off the card? Even though the cardback is kinda crap and generic I kinda like the bubble and would like to keep the packaging overall in good nick.

Lint, judging by the two TRU stores i've seen, no, i dont think that we will -they're sitting on a lot of stock. I assume that until their warehouses run dry, we wont see any new stock arrive. Again, that's just my observation, i'm hoping i'm wrong & we see the two sometime soon & it's not just a one off purchase arrangement.

As for the card, doesn't appear to be, unless somebody knows of a way to seperate the two elements without using a blade - as we know, that'll leave card & glue residue on the plastic.

Hursti, in the words of the Old El Paso girl, why not both? *cue the trumpet* :D

Thanks Twinny, bit the bullet and opened them up. Wasn't as bad as I was expecting :)

I reckon we should be getting wave 2 even though they're seriously pegwarming at my local TRU. The new 2012 TMNT series is doing well and these classics figures may be able to ride on the tail of toys for that line. If we're unable to import them through Amazon or BBTS I'd peg it as a good sign.

If anyone's worried about Rocksteady and the misassembled lower-legs, it's not very hard to fix, and that's coming from someone who cannot customise to save his life. Boil and pop, a dish of water from the kettle and a couple of minutes of your time. If I can do it, anyone can. Just pour another bowl of water and do round 2 if it starts to get a bit less pliable.

I didn't put them out, so I didn't see the boxes they came in. Based on the number of Splinters and Shredders I saw, I would say yes, it was one each per box. I will see tomorrow if we have any unopened boxes out the back and see what the case assortment is.
