Hi all. Haven't been on the forum for quite some time now...

Anyway, I have a question about the Dreamwave TF comic... was it ever released in digital format?

Nope.

Not really.

Anything and everything is available illegally via torrent or fileshare.

If asked a question like this, I'll always assume they mean via legal means.

Otherwise, it's a blanket 'yes' to everything.

I still can't download action figures.

Bummer.

Yep, that's what I meant. Like comixology.com for example.

I don't think you can download Marvel TF comics either. There used to be a fan site that had scans of all the Marvel TF comics, then it was taken down I think around 2002-03 ... around the time Titan started reprinting G1/G2 Marvel comics; so I suspect that perhaps they sent a message to the site admin asking him to take the scans down prior to the publication of reprints. That's been known to happen -- remember when bwtf.com used to beastwars.net? Then Hasbro asked Ben to change it because they wanted to register beastwars.com (which now points to transformers.com). There was never any threats or stern/nasty words -- they just politely explained the situation and negotiated with Ben for a web site name that they agreed he could have, so they all mutually agreed upon bwtf.com.

There's about 14 Marvel TF comics available via Comixology.

They're the issues IDW printed as 'Generations'.

Kinda random issues at times, but they're available.

They aren't random, they just skip the ones that heavily feature Marvel characters (3 & 9). It's just odd given that they could reprint those issues in the latest edition of the trade.

My bad for not being clearer.

I meant in terms of what issues are available.

They are just random issues, jumping around all over the place, not in consecutive order (even accounting for issues featuring Marvel characters).

More like a 'Best Of' mixed with 'The characters you remember best".

You must be seeing a different view to me? When I browse "Transformers: Classics" on the IDW app on my iphone I see issue 1 to 16 in order (with the gaps of 3 and 9).

That's hilarious.

I have purchased all those issues digitally too.

I always assumed they were just copies of the 'Generations' issues they printed, which WERE random issues.

You're right, they are indeed sequential digitally.

Do they still suffer from the awful reprint quality as IDW's printed G1 reprints? <shudder>

I may be compounding my litany of fail here, but no, they don't appear to (or the screen masks it, don't know).

To my eye, they look like the Titan versions.

Maybe IDW has mechanical issues which their reprints that makes their quality so bad. :(

Nah. Their use of halftones is deliberate.

Another question...

With DW now out of business, do IDW hold the rights to the DW-produced issues?

IDW did reprint most of DW's comics in trade paperback collections except for the incomplete series (which I never understood why they didn't print an "Unfinished" volume with those issues). But it might have been a 'one reprint' right.

IDW can reprint any and all DW stuff, with the exception of volume 3 (the Ongoing series) and War Within: Age Of Wrath, due to parts of it being tied up in bankruptcy still, people unpaid, legal uncertainty, blah blah blah.

IDW has reprinted the odd volume 3 issue here and there though (one issue was in the 'Best Of Don' HC, issue 5 I think?)

Do you know if IDW have any plans to put up the DW issues they can print on Comixology?

No idea, sorry.

I have no idea what rights IDW have to the DW in terms of digital. I wouldn't be surprised if there complications, but that's really just a guess, sorry.
