View Full Version : Transformers Competition for Australia

griffin
7th March 2012, 12:09 AM
After so many years of Americans getting all the Transformers competitions & promotions by Hasbro, we finally get one hosted by Hasbro in Australia (http://transformersprime.com.au/how.html).

From March 5th to April 29th, buy a Transformers PRODUCT (not just toys) and go to the Australian Transformers Prime website (http://transformersprime.com.au/enter.php) to enter in your
purchase details... for a chance to win a trip for four to Universal Studios in America.
- Return economy flights to Los Angeles , California, USA from the Australian State or Territory capital city nearest to the winners place of
residence and return private car ground transfers between Los Angeles airport and the Accommodation.
- 5 nights twin or quad share accommodation at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel & Spa.
- 4 tickets to the VIP Experience at Universal Studios Hollywood, Cirque du Soleil tickets; and a Starline Tour.

IF you made your purchase at a Jay Jays store, you have a chance to also win a different trip to Universal Studios for two people.
- 2 tickets with Front of the Line passes to Universal Studios Hollywood and a Starline Tour.

PLUS, daily prize packs, which includes:
- 1 x Transformers Robopower Robofighter figure,

- 2 x Transformers Mectech Deluxe Figures;

- 1 x Transformers Mechtech Voyager &

- 1 x Transformers Mechtech Leader;

- 1 x TRANSFORMERS Dark of The Moon PS3 video game;

- 1 x TRANSFORMERS book tin;

- 1 x TRANSFORMERS back pack and five TRANSFORMERS books of the Promoter's choosing; and

- 1 x TRANSFORMERS Dark of the Moon DVD.

Stores with eligible products should have leaflets like these:

http://www.toycollectors.com.au/toyfair/12toyfair24.jpg

But you don't need a leaflet or coupon to enter. Just go to the link above with your purchase details (you must keep you receipt to prove the purchase was local).

From the Conditions page (http://transformersprime.com.au/terms.html):

Prize Pool:
- Major Prize: One Trip for 4 people to Universal Studios, California, USA valued at a maximum of $14,678. (product purchased from anywhere)
- Jay Jays Prize: One Trip for 2 people to Universal Studios, California, USA valued at a maximum of $6,678. (product purchased from JayJays only)
- 56 (daily) TRANSFORMER Prize Packs: each valued at $516.74

The prizes are valued as at 17/1/12. The maximum total value of all prizes is $50,253.44.

The prize draws will all be as follows:
(i) The Major Prize Draw, from all entries received during the Entry Period (including those entries based upon a TRANSFORMERS Product purchase from a Jay Jays store), will be held at 3.05pm on 3/5/12;
(ii) The Jay Jays Prize Draw, from all entries received during the Entry Period that indicated that the TRANSFORMERS Product upon which the entry was based was purchased from a Jay Jays store, will be held at 3pm on 3/5/12;
(iii) Daily Draws at 3pm on day each from 6/3/12 to 30/4/12 inclusive that is not a Saturday, Sunday or Public Holiday in Victoria. (One TRANSFORMER Prize Pack will be awarded in each Daily Draw.) Entries into one Daily Draw that do not win a prize will be included in any subsequent Daily Draw. If there are no entries that may be included in a Daily Draw, the prize that would have been awarded in that Daily Draw will be awarded in the next Daily Draw.

For each entry, the entrant must provide:
(a) the last 6 digits of the barcode of the TRANSFORMERS Product being used to enter;
(b) the name of the store from which the TRANSFORMERS Product was purchased;
(c) the date of that purchase; and
(d) all other details required at the Competition Website, including first and last names, residential address, postal address, email address and contact telephone number.

MAKE SURE YOU KEEP YOUR DOCKETS, and MAKE SURE YOU FILL OUT THE DETAILS EXACTLY including THE EXACT STORE YOU PURCHASED FROM. If you win something and one of the details were wrong because you rushed filling out the form, you won't get the prize. The Promoter may require verification of the details of any entry (if someone enters multiple times with the same or similar details - as it is easy to enter more times than one docket would allow).
And expect to verify your entry if you win a prize.

MULTIPLE PURCHASES ON THE ONE DOCKET - each product can be a separate entry... just make sure you enter the product barcode and store details for each item/entry, and keep the docket. PLEASE DON'T CHEAT (it is possible, but I won't say how).

KEEP A LIST OF EVERY ENTRY you submit (in a text file), and if you are contacted to verify your entries, or have won something, send them a copy of that ENTIRE list.

So.. just to confirm, the daily prize packs are for the Jay Jays comp, only?

griffin
7th March 2012, 08:55 PM
Daily prizes are from any entries submitted at any time (which may be in the daily draw every day after that - or might be just valid for the day of entry).

The JayJays prize looks to be a bonus prize if you submit your entry from something you bought from them.
Which means - at the end of the competition period, they will draw the major prize (trip for 4) from every entry (including JayJays entries), and then also draw the bonus prize (trip for 2) from just the JayJays entries.

We rarely get Transformers competitions in this country, but for some reason they over-complicate them to the point that they either confuse people or fail completely (like the Target competition last year, that had to be changed after it started because the special conditions were preventing most eligible people from entering).

I think this is a great competition, sounds like Hasbro are perhaps worried that we'll be spending too much of our Transformers budget overseas...

that's cool, I'll at least be buying some cyberverse figures here.

I won, I won... :p

This was totally unexpected, but I was just thinking about posting this hint on the weekend - get in early with your entries, as it will take a while for the general public to know about it, or even bother entering.
The Daily Draws started last Monday - without any advance notice, so the pool of entries in the first couple weeks will be small... and your entries stay in the growing pool. So don't feel like you have to space them out to be in multiple daily draws. Get in early, and enter as much as you can afford.
Remember, any Legit Transformers product is valid - toys, Easter merchandise, clothing, DVDs...
With Target's 20% off sale and Kmart's Clearance sale, you should be able to get a good head-start on the general consumers with this competition. And increase your chances of winning the major prizes.
Just make sure you keep your receipts and barcodes, as the email I received asked to verify my entry details... which I need them to clarify, as I entered 9 times so far - so do they want any of those entries, or the complete list to be able to verify the one that they have drawn out.

If I get an answer to that, I'll update here.

Pity there isn't anything in the Daily Prize pack that I don't already own, or am after... so I guess it is more stuff for me to give away here then.

griffin
13th March 2012, 12:40 PM
A response from the competition administrator:

Yes if someone enters using different codes then they will need to keep a list of all the codes and purchases details.

So that means - keep a list of EVERY entry you submit (in a text file), and if you are contacted to verify your entries, or have won something, just send them a copy of that ENTIRE list.

...thing is... I've been buying lots of TF Prime toys from stores since December (and from AU stores since the beginning of this month) -- but I haven't been keeping the receipts. :( Part of me is wondering if I should just punch in the barcodes anyway, but then if I get drawn then I may be disqualified because I haven't retained all the receipts. Actually... I may have a few of my FE receipts; but not sure if they'll honour it if the toy was bought outside Australia (I'll have to read the terms & conditions more closely).

I did get one toy today and I've entered that barcode in (and I'm keeping the receipt)... so I have at least one entry in this comp. :o

griffin
18th March 2012, 02:00 AM
All the answers are in this topic, and in the link to the entry conditions, which is also posted in this topic. You just need to read it first.

If you've already entered once to see what is required, and read the verification process above if you win, you'll know what purchases are allowed, and what aren't.

My goodies arrived today! :D

The two deluxes were DotM Laserbeak and Bumblebee, and the two leaders were Sentinel Prime and Bumblebee. I would have preferred a leader Ironhide, but I shan't look a gift horse in the mouth. I didn't have either of the Bumblebees (I wouldn't have paid for them, given how similar they are to earlier ones, but happy to get them for free).

The books are cute, but very junior, so I'll save them for when my friends bring their littlies over, to keep them away from MY toys. Also got a Robo-Power Bumblebee, and that'll be a birthday gift for a friend's little girl who turns 3 next month.

DotM on DVD, and also the PS3 game. Don't own a PS3, so will have to work out how to distribute that one. The tin is very cool and quite large - I think that might have to be where I store all my TF weapons.

Considering I got this mighty haul for buying nothing other than what I would have purchased anyway, and there was a bunch of stuff I didn't have, I'm actually quite pleased. :)

griffin

I picked mine up today as well. One of the boxes was resealed by Australia Post due to "insufficient wrapping", but doesn't look like anything is missing.

I got two Leaders as well (instead of a Leader & a Voyager), being the same Wave 1 pair that Sofaman got.
The two Deluxe toys I got were Thundercracker and Armor Topspin (which would have been a real surprise if that wave hadn't been sighted at Myer yet).
And the "Robo Fighter" ended up being a Revving Robot. (Fighters are a deluxe size pop-up weapons range of toys that wasn't released here, while Revving ones are Leader sized electronic toys).

I might keep some of the books. One was a junior novelisation for DotM, which was like the comic, in that it ends with Megatron and Optimus forming a truce and both live. (the script certainly changed really late)

Everything else will be given away though.

I just received this email today

Thank you for entering the Transformers Universal Studios promotion.
We are pleased to inform you that you have been selected as one of our daily
winners and as such have won the following prize pack:
• 1 x Transformers Robopower Robofighter figure.
• 2 x Transformers Mectech Deluxe Figures.
• 1 x Transformers Mechtech Voyager & 1 x Trasnformers Mechtech Leader.
• 1 x Transformers Dark of The Moon PS3 video game.
• 1 x Transformers book tin.
• 1 x Transformers back pack and five TRANSFORMERS books of the Promoter's choosing.
• 1 x Transformers Dark of the Moon DVD.

Many congratulations for being selected. To claim your prize simply reply back to this email within 48 hours confirming your mailing address, the last 6 digits of the barcode of the TRANSFORMERS Product purchased, the name of the store from which the TRANSFORMERS Product was purchased & the date of that purchase. Failure to reply back within 48 hours will forfeit you as a winning entry at which time a new winner will be chosen.

--

This requirement is slightly different from the terms and conditions in the online website, which requires the barcode digits and asks you only to keep the receipt.
I would suggest that you also keep the barcode from any product purchased, and staple it to your receipt for later reference. You might not have time to locate another matching product in store to read the barcode information before 48 hours expires. It'd be awful to win a daily prize and then not be able to redeem it in time.

I had to do a bin dive to retrieve the bardcode and packaging, lol!

huh. do exceedingly few people actually enter these sorts of contests?

griffin
24th March 2012, 01:15 AM
So that's four of us so far... a nice percentage already, in just 15 (business) days of prize drawings.
That's over a quarter of prizes so far going to dedicated collectors on here, who have been "investing" thousands into Hasbro products for years... so it's good to see some of us getting a little something back.

I guess the general public aren't taking to the competition too actively, as this proportion (from probably 30-40 of us here entering) suggests that only a couple hundred people have entered so far. A bit disappointing for Hasbro if true (as they are footing a $50,000 competition, so would want to see a return by having an increase in sales of more than that, to make it a worthwhile investment).

If the general public don't start entering in bigger numbers, we should see a lot more of our members here winning... and maybe even one or both of the major prizes.

Now to see who's the first person here to win a second prize pack...

griffin
24th March 2012, 01:41 AM
huh. do exceedingly few people actually enter these sorts of contests?

Apparently that's the case, when a competition requires a purchase or sending in entries.
You see on the news from time to time, people who are "career competition entrants" (or junkies), in that they make a living entering and winning a lot of the competitions you see on Grocery products and in Department stores, that require a purchase to enter.

I just did a google search, and these are some examples of people who make a living (or earn a lot) from entering competitions.

griffin

I made sure it was noted in bold in the first post, so that people didn't think that they had to keep buying more stuff to enter on other days.

Paulbot
5th April 2012, 12:40 AM
The official site's Ts&Cs didn't make that clear. Guess I should put my other docket in the draw now then and hope for the best.
Then I can sell on those two figs I am only keeping for the possibility of winning a prize.

Paulbot
5th April 2012, 12:47 AM
The other thing not clear is which last 6 digits to use.

The illustration on their site (http://transformersprime.com.au/how.html) shows a bar code with 13 numbers: 1 outside the barcode, 6 numbers, a gap, and then the the last 6 highlighted (all within the main 'body' of the barcode).
X XXXXXX XXXXXX

On my package (a Legion toy) the barcode only has 12 numbers. 1 outside-left the bar code, a set of 5, another set of 5, and another number outside-right the barcode (not illustrated in the example).
X XXXXX XXXXX X

So I put the last six from the set of numbers within the barcode in, ignoring the dangling number outside (which doesn't not appear in the official example). But I think I probably stuffed up, right?

What did the winning people do? Have any of you used a Legion-class barcode and won and which numbers did you put in?

It shouldn't be this confusing or hard:(

griffin
5th April 2012, 01:02 AM
I included the one on the outside, and didn't have a problem. As reillyD mentioned, keep the barcode as well as the docket (I didn't even think of it, as I keep the packaging of my TFs). And as I posted above, make a note of all your entries in a text file, so if they do ask for verification, you give them every entry you've submitted, or else you may not end up verifying the one they have drawn out.

Paulbot
5th April 2012, 01:06 AM
I included the one on the outside, and didn't have a problem.

So... I did it wrong. Great. I'd be surprised to win anyway, just not my year for being lucky, but I guess I'll put in the other barcode in the different way.

I don't think you should be worried, as they probably don't have EVERY eligible barcode on file... they just want you to be able to verify EXACTLY what you entered, and to keep your barcode and docket in case they ask for them to be posted in for verification (if you won the big prize).

As I mentioned above to Paulbot - as long as you quote back to them exactly what you entered, and can physically prove it if asked to, it won't matter which digits you entered in. There are several hundred Transformers products in stores at the moment, not just the toys, so I doubt that they would have a register of all possible barcodes, in case it leaves out something that is either really old, or something really new... both of which, if purchased at one of those major chains, is eligible for the competition.

Anything officially released or licensed by Hasbro that is Transformers is eligible.

Including, but not limited to...
- action figures
- gimmick toys
- kreo
- rescue bots
- Crossovers (should count, but often don't when there are discount sales for TFs)
- clothing
- stationary
- Easter items

Since the competition didn't say "toys" (because it has to allow for JayJays purchases) you can use any legit item that has Hasbro on it somewhere.

They had to send the stuff to me in two boxes, so maybe the other box is still on its way. Wait 2 days and if nothing shows up, shoot them an email to see if everything was sent.

Lucky you. I received an email today saying they won't be sending me the voyager and leader class figures as they are currently out of stock from their suppliers. They will send those to me when they got stock. They have send out the other items today so I should get them tomorrow. Hope I get the leader and voyager figures soon.

Congratulations. Got mine today. Missing both voyager and leader class figures but am happy with the deluxe figures I got. Got air raid and skids, both I don't own. So now got to go buy deluxe mudflap to pair up with his twin. Anyone knows which retailer offers the cheapest dotm deluxe figures. I haven't been browsing the shops lately.

Hi Guys,

Got an email on the 18th to say I'd won a prize pack  , but have not received it as of yet :(. I have just emailed yarramedia to find out what was going on.

Has it taken 2 weeks + for everyone to receive their prize packs?

Thanks in advance...

Firstly, congratulations. Ya, I waited almost 2 weeks before I got sent my prize. I got an email saying they will post out my items minus the leader and voyager class figures. After 2 weeks, today I got another email saying they will shipped the remaining 2 figures to me. Also, they inform me they have no more stock of dotm voyager figures do they are going to send me the prime voyager megatron. So i guess they are low on stock at this stage. Hope you get a response soon. Cheers

Thanks mate...just got an email this morning saying they apologise for the delay but are waiting on stock and my prize pack should be out by the end of the week. A bit annoying that I had to contact them to find this out, oh well I don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth ;)

They were supposed to be drawn on Monday... :(

At least we got a healthy number of the daily prizes won here though.

According to the T&C's the major prize draw is tomorrow (3/5/12) @3pm

I wonder if the entries are filtered by product type. Has anyone won a prize pack without buying a "transformers prime" product? (excluding Jay Jays stuff of course)

If so, I don't like my chances since I haven't bought any "Prime" stuff and my Jay Jays purchases have been very-out-of-season stuff that just happened to still be in the store.

EDIT: Wait a minute, I do have a shot! I just remembered I did buy and use that TF Prime 2-pack as an entry :p

I've been entering barcodes for all sorts of Transformers products that I've been purchasing from Australian retail stores, as specified on the web site. Not just TF Prime.

I won my prize pack on TF Prime toy purchases though (as that's all that I'd entered at the time I won it).

Ooops, I thought I read Monday... :o

Well, still hoping someone here gets at least one of the two major prizes, as I think the collectors who have invested 100s or even 1000s of dollars over the years to line the pockets of Hasbro execs, deserve to be the recipients of a $15,000 prize, over someone who isn't even a fan (bought toys for someone else).

I wouldn't mind if a kid won it and got a trip of a lifetime. Given the fond memory, I would like to imagine that they would end up here as a member when they get older.

What I would really dislike though is if one of those people who spend their lives spam-entering competitions so they can win prizes won the major prize.
