I bought Fortress Maximus back in 1987 when I was on a holiday to the USA and it was on sale for $100. I really don't think it's worth paying almost double (probably more than double when you include shipping! :eek:) for a toy mould that's 25 years old. You're better off going to Asia where you can buy the whole range of TF:Prime First Edition toys instead for that price.

To be 100% honest, even if it was true, I think I'd still prefer a remold or a re-imagining. Max is a staple in the toy collectors' ticklist, sure, but his transformation and altmodes just aren't complex and different enough for me.

Not to mention - can you imagine what could be done with Cog, Cerebros, and Spike using current toy tech? Not just balljoint articulation, but better modes and transformations all up.

Redo Max with current tech. Have his fists fold up and conceal. Likewise his feet. Do something about his visible thighs in battle station mode. Make the battlestation itself be less obviously just Max sunbathing. Make Cog interact with the main toy more - there's really nothing that links him to Max at the moment. Give Cerebros an autonomous altmode - something flight-capable would be good for transporting Spike.

If the battlestation is going to be a flight-capable ship, make that obvious. Turn the robot arms into a thruster bank. Split the conning tower to the sides and pull wings out of it, to further distinguish it from city mode. Merge the legs into a more comprehensive single bow. Give Gasket and Grommet weapons emplacement modes and somewhere to plug in. There are so many things which could be improved with just minor tweaks!

Really? I would've predicted $300, which is about how much Brave Maximus sold for. But that toy came out 12 years ago, in a higher production run (Takara reissues are always produced in smaller numbers - a large/expensive toy like this even moreso) and it didn't come w/ any accessories. Maybe Takara had lost the moulds for the weapons (which might explain the crappy quality of the God Sword) and had to recast them? :confused: <shrugs>

I predict Encore 24 shall be... Time Warrior! :p
