Pretty tough to narrow down to 3 favs of all time...
My current favs change regularly, hence the line in my signature

My top three favourite Transformers toys would most likely be Beast Wars Neo Drancron, G1 Puffer and Action Masters Omega Spreem.

Drancron.

Puffer.
http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/4162/p9100344.jpg
Omega Spreem.
Visualworks Emergency Green Ratchet is right up there too, but he'd be easier to replace than the other three, which is probably the only reason he didn't 'officially' make the top three.

I know I do. There isn't much to Rampage, though he is still a great figure. But Depth Charge is an incredible toy. Each to their own I suppose, I find Depthcharge's sticky-outy-back and Rampage's actually working tank treads and generally sweet 3rd mode to tip the balance in favour of Ol' Crabcakes.
DC is still pretty freaking awesome mind you, especially in beast mode.
Dammit, now I really want to go fool around with both of them. One of the few downsides to being here in Japan is that most of my collection is back in Oz.:(

Oh man, that is one beautiful Megatron. I tried painting up the Beast Machines recolour of that mold once. It was ok but in those days I didn't know that painting him like that would mean either never moving him again, or leaving him with scratches all over. C'est la vie.

Doubleheader
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y227/goktimusprime/Transformers/collection%202011/collection2011_22.jpg
Overall I think the 1989 Pretenders are better than the 1988 Pretenders - they're much cheaper and the robots are better designed because they don't have stick-thin robot modes and they transform into identifiable alt modes (whereas the 1988 Pretenders bend over and they tell you it's meant to be a vehicle... right). But compared to other 89 Pretenders, I find Doubleheader to be one of the weaker ones. The double-headed Pretender shell is just... odd. Is he meant to be a conjoined twin? Although sculpting is rather nice. The double-jet mode is also weird, though I suppose no stranger than Slugslinger. The accessory for the robot... is that a gun or a barcode scanner? Also not fond of how the landing gears can't fully retract in jet mode. He's not the worst of the 1989 Pretenders IMO (Longtooth is my least favourite), but he's not as good as say ... any of the '89 Decepticon Pretenders. The Autobots lucked out w/ their Pretender toys that year. Character-wise I like Doubleheader though; his "conjoined" persona was pretty funny (although it only seemed to exist when he was in his shell - it'd be funny if it continued when he was outside his shell, kinda like Smeagol and Gollum (only ya know, without the emotional abuse :p)).
Swoop
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y227/goktimusprime/Transformers/Famous%20Covers/cover_027.jpg
Aah, I didn't get Swoop as a kid as he was very rare in Australia! :( Managed to get one in 2005 undamaged loose complete for the expensive inflated price of $100 (<sigh>). Anyway, as a result I have limited childhood memories of this toy (I only new 2 kids at school who had a Swoop). He's certainly the physically weakest of the Dinobots... I found a few Swoops with broken dino heads. The transformation is the least interesting of the Dinobots IMO - but I guess that's also because the alt mode is a lot more streamlined than the other Dinobots, presenting an engineering challenge akin to any jet TF (i.e. it's difficult to put all those robot parts somewhere when transforming into such a relatively "thin" alt mode - other dinos are chunk and can easily contain robot parts). Character-wise I quite like Swoop; he seemed to be the second smartest Dinobot other than Grimlock, and also the most lovable for me. Although my favourite Dinobot will always be Snarl. :)
Optimal Optimus
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y227/goktimusprime/Transformers/Famous%20Covers/cover_bwa02.jpg
At first I was like, "What? But we already have a Transmetal Optimus Primal... why another one?" -- but after seeing pics of the toy and finally seeing them in shops... I couldn't resist. :p The sculpting is magnificent with so much incredible detail. I like how the head looks similar to the design Mainframe gave Optimus Primal in Season 1 of the cartoon - i.e. "open" faceplate with mouth. The colours are also nicely done with airbrushed paint apps on some parts! The electronic gimmick actually works nicely without compromising the engineering too much (ah, the days before Hasbro became obsessed with sound gimmicks on big boxed toys... how I miss that). Holy cow, this toy has movable fingers and opposable thumbs! The vehicle modes, as far as "intermediate" modes are concerned, are okay. I like the jet, but found the buggy mode to be kinda disappointing. My main criticism of this toy... they put the chest light right between the missile launchers... I shot myself in the eyes the first time I played with that gimmick! :p Character-wise, I do like how Mainframe came up with a story to justify the inclusion of this toy and involving G1 Optimus Prime with it too! :D Cos I gotta admit, when I got this toy I thought to myself that as neat as this toy is, we're not gonna see it on the show because we already have a TM Optimus Prime - the Quantum Surge has passed. But obviously Hasbro wanted this big toy in the show, and I must commend the writers for actually making it work. :)

My top 3:
#1. G1 Ultra Magnus - G1 because thats the only magnus I own. Whilst I agree that he isn't that cool in the cartoon, he goes alright in the marvel comic. But as a kid he was my favourite and to this day still is.
#2. Masterpiece Grimlock - Everyone loves grimlock, but he is one of my standout characters. Can't really explain why.
And my #3 I actually have a photo of:

My top 3:

I agree that Ultra Magnus was a pretty cool character in the comics. He does cop a lot of flak for being continually pwned by Galvatron -- but let's face it, G1 comic Galvatron is a freakin' demi-god! The fact that Ultra Magnus was able to go toe-to-toe with him on so many occasions, even though he kept on getting trounced, shows just how much of a tough nut he is! :)
And I really like the toy, even if the cab is rehashed from Optimus Prime. Ultra Magnus was really the first Transformer who could "power up." ;)

T'is a lady - it's supposed to be Rachel Becker (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Rachel_Becker), but of course there's never been a toy of her, so I used Microman 2005 Acrolady Manon. She comes in a 2 pack with Falcon (http://www.microforever.com/2005Falcon&Manon.htm). I got the 2-pack for free from a friend of mine in Japan who used to work for Takara and helped design Manon. :)

I really wish they'd make more Transformers Microman characters. I think it'd be really really REALLY awesome if they released an entire series of all human characters as Micromen, similar to what we got with Kicker and Gamede (love those guys!). Imagine having Spike Witwicky, Carly Witwicky, Circuit Breaker, Sam Witwicky, Mikaela Banes, Carly Spencer, the Headmasters Juniors, the Autobot Pretenders in their civvies etc. as Micromen! :D Lots of TF fans bought Indiana Jones Kingdom of the Crystal Skull's Mutt Williams to repurpose as Sam Witwicky (reprolabels even has a sticker set to make him look more moofie-accurate).
I would absolutely LOVE to see that - or any other kind of 10cm scale action figure for TF humans (similar to 10cm Star Wars or GI Joe figures). Beats the hell out of PVC inaction figures (e.g. TF Prime) or those poorly articulated Human Alliance people. Gah. But I think I'm the only one who wants this. :o

BW - "Black Jack" Optimus Primal (Favourite late-childhood/early-teenage toy)
I'd forgotten that the toy we got here was called Black Jack! At the time I got him it was either before Beast Wars was on TV in Aus or before I'd seen the show, so I 'played' with him as the reincarnated Beast Wars version of the Micromaster Blackjack. It made sense to me, since a Micromaster would have been the right size to be reformatted as a gorilla. Plus I already had an Optimus Primal, and he was a BAT NOT MUNKY! :p

G2 Laser Optimus Prime is a fantastic toy! 1994-95 was the time when Transformers just started getting into the territory of being articulated action figures -- Combat Hero Optimus Prime was the first fully articulated transformable Optimus Prime toy, but then G2 Laser Prime came along and blew it out of the water! Aside from being an awesome figure, it's also a great playset with the trailer-base. ;D The LED laser gimmick works well in the toy too -- a great example of a gimmick that enhances the toy rather than compromising its engineering (something that some modern day TFs could stand to learn a thing or two about). :)
I don't have the reissue, but it looks pretty sweet w/ the chrome. :)

ROTF Buster Optimus Prime Awesome in both modes and completely looks the part with the better paint job. I continue to be amazed how much he stretches out mid-transform - simply an incredible example of the complexity Transformers can reach these days.
http://i.imgur.com/qHCjE.jpg
Masterpiece Optimus Prime (MP10) I liked the look of this when it was first announced, but since i got it, I feel like he just keeps on growing on me even more. Flawless truck mode, transformation that is fun and gets the job done simply, Robot mode that actually looks animated when static, and solid construction for great playability. If his tolerance for transformation was a little looser i'd think he'd be a great toy even for kids.
http://i.imgur.com/QZFbo.jpg
TM-SP DX Convoy This guy looks great with the nicer paint job, and has 2 solid modes with good accuracy (I do wish he had the open mouthplate though of the anniversary pack though!), but i think i like him so much cause he's totally packed to the brim with playability, weapons & storage. And he truly can be played with by kids!
Need to shout out honorable mentions to my favourite Binaltech toys, Meister & Overdrive, plus the entire Alternity line too!. In the minority i'm sure, but i also love MP Rodimus. My original JP version is still going strong with no breaks, and looks freaking brilliant in both modes. Love how they got the car so flat and futuristic with the perfect shade of magenta, like it's right out of the movie!

G1 Soundwave is freaking AWESOME! :D
Buster Optimus Prime... aah, such an awesome looking toy. But I already had Leader ROTF Optimus Prime and Leader ROTF Jetfire when that set came out, so I couldn't justify to myself getting them again, even with the new head and chrome, which looked so nice (I would stare them for ages when browsing through Kmart ;)). And I didn't even know the tanks could detach and combine into a weapon (because the original can't). *sigh* Had I known this set was going to come out, I would've skipped the originals in favour for it. Either way, it's a great mould... but I gotta say, the modifications they did to it for Jetwing Optimus Prime (i.e. the new ribs) makes it better -- MUCH easier to clip the windows into position when transforming to truck mode!
1. DOTM Laserbeak (This hideous thing won me a holiday to Los Angeles so will forever be a fave):D

I love the design of AA Terradive. The robot mode and jet modes are great and the transformation and weapon are unique, cool and fun.
First Edition Prime Cliffjumper made a car transform into a robot in a unique, interesting way, with added features just for show accuracy, built in weapons.
DOTM Skyhammer is a nice looking helicopter and a great looking robot, and the blades position is one of those brilliant touches. Plus you can throw away the mech-tech weapon and he's still armed.

Out of those three, Brave Maximus is the best looking IMO - not surprising as it's the most recent version. Takara clearly try to make the mould look better with each repaint -- Grand Max looks better than Fort Max. Fortress Maximus is the most plain looking of the lot... just so much grey. Brave Max's alt mode looks gorgeous, especially with the way they painted the windows to make it really look like an occupied city. :)
Interesting how theshape has them all displayed in robot mode. I have Fort Max in robot mode and Brave Max in city mode. If I had Grand Max I'd display him in starship mode. But that's just me. :p ;) (not that I'm likely to ever get a Grand Max :p)

I still have a relatively modest collection, so it wasn't hard to pick. These three stand clearly above the others as my favourites:
1. Masterpiece Grimlock. A transforming T-Rex. A sweet robot mode. Gold chromed chest. He even has jet boosters in alt mode. A flying T-Rex! No other toy combines so much awesomeness at once. Despite the gimmicks, he's still far and away number one.

2. Masterpiece Coronation Starscream. I've always especially like jet-formers. I have the old Masterpiece seeker mould too, which looks better in jet mode, but you don't buy a transformer to keep in alt mode.

3. DOTM Jetwing Prime. I initially didn't like the look of this guy as much as DOTM Ultimate Prime (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Optimus_Prime_%28Movie%29/toys#Ultimate). After all, transformers are meant to be robots in disguise, and the armed-up jetpack wasn't much of a disguise. Then I saw him on sale a month or two ago for just under $100, half the initial retail price, so I snapped him up. And I'm glad I did. The leg articulation alone makes him more fun to play with than Ultimate Prime. You also get the Buster Prime mould, which is the best Leader Optimus mould we currently have. Now I just have to figure out how to display him in a flying pose.

Honourable mention: Classics Jetfire Prime. OK, this is two figures. And it isn't an official mode. But, both figures are pretty sweet on their own. Even better when combined. This is what finally convinced me to shell out for a Classics Optimus Prime (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Optimus_Prime_%28G1%29/toys#Classics_.282006.29).

Classics Prime isn't much on his own, but you could put him to good use in another mean -- if you like your bots bigger and to have a little more intricate ingenuity, you may want to look into this guy (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/toys/3rd-party-products/tfx-01j-dia-commander-powered-commander/2237/) (but be careful of secondary market prices and KO sellers! ;)).

I think Classics Prime is a great figure all on his own.

My three are a bit random.
First is G1 Brawl. I don't know why i like him, he's not fancy or big or anything. He's just one of those ones i look at and go "he's cool".
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u229/spiderken17/PB110016.jpg
The second is G1 Devastator. Who doesn't love six robots who join to form one massive robot?:) I like that you can still clearly see all his component robots. He looks like in the cartoon.
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u229/spiderken17/PB110008.jpg
The third only arrived a few days ago and was not originally meant for me. RTS Turbo Tracks is awesome! He transforms well, is very poseable and pays homage to the original (he only just beat out Generations Dirge).

The City Commander armor makes for a sweet Ultra Magnus, but the price has been prohibitive (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=FPJ10009&mode=retail) for me. Combined with a Henkei Ultra Magnus, the price works out to roughly an MP-08 Grimlock (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TRANSFORMERS-MASTERPIECE-G1-MP-08-GRIMLOCK-FIGURE-MISB-/230877876441?pt=AU_Action_Figures&hash=item35c164d0d9). For now, I'll just have to admire from afar.

Been thinking about this one for ages. So many to choose from. Do I go for nice Transformation, looks or fun? What to do.
Finally I think I have come down to my top three. and they are:
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k313/Wootnchoo/IMG_2224_zps1f19735b.jpg
These guys.
#1 is Needlenose. For not only being a Targetmaster, but for also being a stand-in Starscream when I didn't have one (which was for ages I was without.) He was also my main leader of the Decepticons forces. Oh and he has a great bio too!
#2 Is Brave Maximus. The Korean version though. For being the biggest TF toy in existence and impressive. Mainly for making me feel like a kid again. I remember after the hour it took me to get him out of his box (Twist ties! I learnt to hate them!), his sheer size and general awesome nature forced me to get out my other toys and have Needlenose launch an all-out attack on the Autobot city. I love the yellow paint that makes it look like there are lights on. It gives a good idea of size.
My wife was shocked in seeing me have a full on play like a kid. Something which I hadn't done since I had met her and for at least good 5-8 years. It was a joy to behold. It still freaks her out a little bit when I drag him out now. But I don't care. :p
#3 is.. Can you guess. even though there are 4 TFs in the picture, there are only 3.
That's right, it's Omega Prime.
This guy is here for being a cool looking robot, two pretty good toys when apart and mainly for getting me back into transformers again. I went off TFs after the Micromasters a bit and interest waned. Beast Wars didn't really interest me, I thought they were rip off figures. But I had a friend at work and her nephew was watching the RID show, she mentioned that Optimus and Magnus combined. A mate at work (as we all were at the time) Said "What' he called? Kick-Arsimus Prime?" And the thought of Prime and Magnus made me hunt them down like a man possessed. And I was back into Tfs, coz I thought they were pretty fine indeed.
Honourable mentions go to Cosmos, for being the first, Optimus for giving my Autobots a base until Max came along.

Legend Animated Bumblebee and two micromasters are also in that pic as well. They were helping Needlenose out a little bit. :D ;)

now that you mention it, there's that blurry little thing at the right side of the pic - must be the micromasters (combiners?) - I dont think they stand a chance of storming the place, them cannons on Brave max will make short work of em heheheh.
Love Needlenose too, I got mine at a toyfair back in Phils and no one was paying him attention (MISC - well until i got hold of him :P) and he was just Php200 ($1 = around AU$ 35 -37 back then) so grabbed him and went home all happy that day... I had to look him up though coz I wasn't familiar with him that time, I was more of I get a figure when I like how it looks kinda collector. Not really much of a collector at all :o:o:o.

lol, likewise. I quite like his jet mode, but I never know what to do with the front landing gear in robot mode...:o
That blurry thing on the right was the Fortmax's head's gun. The micromasters are the back and blue blur next to Sunbeam's barrel in the pic.

My top two were pretty easy to pick: DotM Jetwing Optimus and MPM-1 Starscream.
Number three proved to be tougher to pick, but I eventually chose Classics Jetfire.
My top three has changed: While I still consider MPM-1 Starscream a top three favourite, my other two are now APS-01U Optimus and MP-22 Ultra Magnus.

Oh Primus! Just 3?! Way too hard to pick out of 1650 :p
Maybe my top 3 from each toy line I could do ;)
Off the top of my head I'll say MP G2 Sudeswipe, Leader class CW Megatron and Cybertron Primus. But I bet I've changed my mind 5 times over by the morning :o

3. CW Offroad- he is so different to the other Stunticons and he is super articulated.
2. G1 Seaspray- he is the only Transformer I have left from 2006-2010 when I got out of Transformers
1. MP 04 Prowl- He is my only Masterpiece Transformer and he is super articulated and awesome!

This is a very hard question, if we just talking about G1 (and you cant beat the classics and originals):
1. G1 Devastator (Cant beat this little beauty)
2. G1 Jetfire
3. G1 Soundwave (G1 Optimus Prime very close 4th)
Newer releases (official):
1. MP-10 Optimus Prime (Because big boss man)
2. MP-19 Smokescreen
3. MP-11 Starscream (MP-13 Soundwave a very close 4th)
(Maybe CW Titan Devistator may change my picks when I get him)
Third party:
1. MMC Feral Rex
2. Maketoys Green Giant
3. Fans Toys Scoria (IMO better than their Soar, though Sever may change my pick when i receive it)
(I've yet to receive my X-Transbot Apollyon so this may change)
As you can see I am a bit biased when it comes to Devastator haha

No pics, 'cos 2/3 of them are currently in Australia, but...
MP10 Optimus Prime.
BW TM2 Megatron.
G1 Predaking. It's basically still the same, except that G1 Predaking has been replaced by MMC Feral Rex. Rex is clear and away my favourite piece out of just about all the figures I own.

G1 Computron

MP-19 Smokescreen
