Now that BotCon has revealed the main Transformers exclusives for SDCC this year (July), the official pics have been released (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/official-images-of-sdcc-exclusives-transformers-prime-rust-in-peace-cliffumper-and-transformers-fall-of-cybertron-bruticus-giftset/24712/).
- Generations Combaticons (packed in Bruticus mode in a big box - released 2-3 months before their retail release, in different colours).
- TFPrime Terrorcon Cliffjumper (First Edition mould/redeco originally planned for regular release, now specially packed, with a shard of dark energon).
There may be other items, announced later (last year had 4 items - only 2 were actual Transformers toys, the other two were products from other lines, done in a TFs deco).
Also note that SDCC 2012 has another GIJoe exclusive toy done in a Transformers theme - Shockwave HISS tank.

I seem to want that Bruticus, but most likely unable to get one, and a big aftermarket price it will attract.

I too, want...nay...NEED that Bruticus. How the hell are we all going to be able to obtain him without paying crazy insane prices? :(

And prices:
Transformers Prime "Rust in Peace" Cliffjumper - $24.99
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron Bruticus Gift Set - $99.99 each
Transformers/G.I.Joe Crossover Shockwave H.I.S.S. Tank set - $59.99 each
Care of Idle Hands Blog (http://idlehands1.blogspot.ca/2012/06/sdcc-2012-hasbros-exclusives.html?m=1) and Seibertron.com (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/sdcc-2012-exclusives-prices-revealed/25149/)
Five deluxes for $100 will be a high price for the US, but cheaper than our retail. But I guess the ebay prices will be at least 150% after the event.

The G.I. Joe set is amazing, in terms of concept, packaging and deco. And My Little Pony Derpy Hooves is a truly clever nerd exclusive. The Transformers offerings are pretty lame by contrast - I'll be waiting for the G2 deco FOC Combaticons.

I agree with the GI Joe set, that does look really good. Might even be tempted by that. The Transformer FOC Bruticus set looks alright as well.

Lol, wot? Derpy Hooves
Of to google I must go!

Demonac recently sent me a link that went into some length of the history of Derpy... and I fear that I now know waaaay too much about Bronys and their influence on Hasbro.
To put it in TFs terms, Derpy is like a wrongly coloured TFs character in the background of an episode, like this one (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Image:FFOD4_mass_mistakes.JPG) or this one (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Image:FFODHaul.jpg).
This one (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Image:Weirdstreak.jpg) would be a good example of a minor animation error (Bluestreak with Bumblebee head). In Derpy's case, it was just a wrongly drawn eye... yes, that's all it took to snowball among Bronys to create so much interest in a "new" character that Hasbro eventually acknowledged it as a new character in the cartoon (briefly, before re-editing the episode to remove it... because of people saying that it was making fun of people with disorders). Despite the (minor) negative publicity, it seems that someone at Hasbro thought it would be a good idea to create a toy and hope it doesn't get too much negative attention.
It also means that Hasbro is acknowledging/accepting the Brony fanbase (males, mostly adult), for a young girl toyline.
So going back to TFs, what if we'd had the massive online communities back during Gen1 when that animation error of Bluestreak occurred... you can imagine that a similar campaign would have started up to have something created from it, like a toy or a character.
(it's ironic - while I was searching on google for a particular TFs animation error, a picture of Derpy showed up... I WAS SEARCHING TRANSFORMERS!)
As for the prices (to be on-topic), it's certainly one good thing about being shafted with prices in Australia... we don't think much of higher priced American exclusives, because they aren't expensive to what we are used to. But I imagine that Americans are upset about having to pay 50-100% more for their Cliffjumper & Bruticus toys (based on the Deluxe class only being US$12-15 there). To most Americans, the regular retail Bruticus will only cost them about US$60, so I imagine that an extra $40 for a fancy box isn't easy for some to accept.

Griff: yeh, google provided me with just enough Derpy hooves knowledge, I left as soon as I discovered the origin.
I hope they made HEAPS of those Bruticus sets too, Looks good and nice. Not so fussed about CJ though anymore. Looks like the box is a little more exciting than the toy.
Were those two the only TF SDCC items this year?

Just google it, you'll find it. I'm not singling-out another fan forum on an open section of ours. If you're really that keen, let me know and I'll PM you.

So, for anyone wanting to get the SDCC Bruticus set, what are the options aside from eBay? Does anyone know someone attending that may be able to secure some sets for us? I don't have any contacts in the US therefore any assistance would be appreciated. I would be willing to pay up to $120.

If there is stock put up on the Hasbro site, you'd be able to get it at SDCC price plus shipping (via PriceUSA (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=12843)).
That's what I'll be doing, because it was the only way to get the NYCC exclusives last year, as the only other places had them for three times the price.
If they don't end up having any listed on the Hasbro site, I think BBTS is probably the best non-ebay source.

Well the sdcc exclusives have been listed and pre-orders sold out at bbts. They were all sold out at 6:00 this morning when I checked. So unless they get more stock which is possible or your lucky enough to grab one if someone cancels their pre-order then bbts is out.

Thanks to a friend living locally who snagged a few pre orders of the SDCC Bruticus and Cliffjumper while they were listed I was able to grab them when he canceled once of each.
Hell of a price to pay and I'll be looking for cheaper sources from Asia closer to release.

Heaps of pics of the GIJoe/TFs Shockwave-HISS tank set at tfw2005 (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/san-diego-comic-con-33/gijoe-vs-transformers-shockwave-hiss-tank-sdcc-2012-exclusive-175411/) - apparently they were sent one early to review/promote.
Just be aware that there are a few photos of GIJoe & TFs figures that aren't in the set, for comparison.

The SDCC Bruticus set has sold out at the show (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/sdcc-2012-coverage-transformers-fall-of-cybertron-bruticus-sold-out/25357/), but there should be stock available on the Hasbrotoyshop site in the next week - which won't last long either.
A gallery of the toys can be seen here (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/san-diego-comic-con-33/in-hand-high-res-sdcc-foc-bruticus-gallery-175494/), which gives us a more detailed look at each figure, than we saw at BotCon.
I love the more simplified engineering of these toys... it's gonna make them so much more playable and fun, especially for kids who will play with them with their friends, and are more likely to become collectors/fans from it.
Leave the brain-teaser puzzles for the big figures or Masterpieces.

do they tend to tell people when it's going to be sold? or do we just have to keep checking the website and hope that we're lucky?

Well, I checked hasbrotoyshop.com around 10:30pm Wednesday night. Been checking every night since Monday coz I've been wanting him. Still no listing. I watched a movie and did a few other things online after I checked at 10:30pm Wed. Checked the website again at around 2:45am Thursday just for the sake of it and because I was bored. Bruticus was listed...and sold out. Such BS.

I looked last night (Wednesday) before going to bed, no listing, and this morning I looked again and both Bruticus and Cliffjumper were listed but out of stock.
I have a preorder now for cliffjumper off BBTS but it's ridiculously expensive. I may cancel it yet, at $60 plus postage.

I looked at a little after midnight too, and nothing listed. If they sold out within an hour or two, they mustn't have had much to start with.
I certainly wouldn't have had a chance to order them through an agent then, with the 2 day process it takes with them.
Thanks for the wake up call though Ultra Marginal. :p :)

Apparently they had a one-per-person limit too... but were sold out within a matter of minutes (http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-news-rumors/629756-new-limits-announced-sdcc-exclusives-hts.html) at around 2am our time.

Looks like a lot of people missed out then which is a shame. Can't believe that one person said he had the items in his cart and then lost them because someone must of processed their order faster. Surely they should have a timer on this so you can complete the checkout process. That's like someone running up behind you and grabbing your items out of your hands when you're on the way to the supermarket checkout. Appalling!
I reckon once people start to realise this has sold out, Amazon will run-out of preorders for G2 Bruticus.

With auction prices now heading past $250 for bruticus, BINs for all three are going up.... so if you want these, I don't think waiting for the hype to pass will see them any cheaper. In the past, once prices of exclusives go up, they pretty much stay up.
CJ was originally $25, but ebay has most going for around $50-75.
Hiss tank was originally $60 ($65 on HTS), ebay prices for most are $140-175.
Bruticus was originally $100, but you'd be lucky to find one for less than $250 before shipping now.
And the real kicker is finding ones that ship outside of America. 90% of the ones I was looking through would only ship to America. And one that I did find that shipped internationally (for Cliffjumper) wanted $100 shipping!
Last year I held out for the GIJoe Starscream, and it's price on ebay sat at $200-250. I got lucky at BotCon (thanks to llamatron) to find one at $130, which was still double it's original price... but I can't risk waiting 12 months to hope for cheap ones next BotCon.
(yes, I caved, and am looking at about $430 plus shipping for these three SDCC toys, which compares to $390 if I had risked pre-ordering them from BBTS and possibly missing out if they didn't get enough)
