For those who didn't see the Hasbro Product display photos, showing off the first wave in packaging, here are some big clearer (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/official-inpackage-images-transformers-generations-fall-of-cybertron-optimus-prime-autobot-jazz-and-shockwave/24755/) (official) photos.

Either the card has become bigger or they have reduced the standard size of deluxe figures.
According to comments from people that went to Botcon on the link above, they are indeed smaller, more like big scouts than deluxes (WFC Bumblebee would tower over FOC Jazz). Someone did a comparison pic with WFC Megatron further down the page.
I doubt they would reduce the price for the smaller scale

Is it known if Shockwave can be used by Bruticus as a gun, or as a weapon by other TFs?

Wow - they are smaller!!
Maybe instead of buying everything like I was going to, I'll just be selective. Shockwave and Starscream might be all I buy if they're that small.

Yeah it is a turn off. They sure don't make it easy to get fully behind their products..

Jazz I've warmed to - initially it looked like his upper half was far too large proportionally for his lower half, but that was from the first batch of photos that were ever seen of him. Recent photos have looked better so I'm chalking that up to bad initial pics.
That said I am nervous that the shoulder panels, which are the 'doors' of the car (as much as a space car has doors) don't lock into any and just fold over the wheels - one my my biggest TF pet hates are figures that have shoulders fold into place but that don't lock properly.
Optimus is a no - I can wait for Magnus (+ I already have the henkei and Generations WFC Prime). Basically everything else from this line is a no except Starscream.
And maybe the Combaticons depending on how impulsive I am at the time/how easy it will be to get all 5.

How are these 'deluxe' size??? I'd say they're more between scout and deluxe. Wouldn't it be great if Hasbro reduces the RRP to reflect the size reduction  One of the reasons why I haven't bought any of the TF:Prime toys.

Is it just me or is there something a little bit robocop about jazz's face? It's probably just me...
Jazz and Shockwave I'm pretty happy with, even if they're a little smaller, Jazz because he's a sports car (albeit a space sports car) and Shockwave because he's still got chicken legs like his g1 counterpart.

The toys are made in the cheapest places possible already, there's not a lot they can do now to offset rising costs.
Inflation and those rising costs of resources (like oil/plastic & wages), has to be passed on somehow... either by raising the price points (they did that 4 years ago), or reducing the size of the price points (which we've seen happen each year since then).
If they have a total expenditure budget, a dollar value, for a particular price point, we can't expect the end result to stay the same price or size over a long period of time.
Same thing happens with food, or things that are made in the same place over time (if there aren't cheaper sources to obtain it from).
A BigMac isn't the same price it was 10 years ago, or the same size.

I don't see the chicken legs unless we have different ideas on what chicken legs are.
To me, these are chicken legs:

They became more common during the Movie era as even during Beast Wars, bird Transformers twisted their legs to look more simian.

My point of view is that Chicken legs have always meant skinny legs compared to the upper body.;)

Yep.
I still don't see skinny legs as chicken legs. I use the term to refer to the backwards knee legs like in the movie toys.

Generally speaking, "She's got chicken legs" = metaphorical to mean "her legs are skinny".
Don't think I've ever met anyone that's interpreted it in a literal sense.
Similarily, "That dude has massive guns" - Do you think that guy has muscly arms or actual, big guns?

That's just the way I see it and what I refer to when I say Chicken legs. Now that I know what you mean when you guys say it, I can understand what you refer to.

I think a decent rule of thumb is: for people it means skinny, for TFs it means birdlike leg joints (especially re. the knees).
AFAIK TF things like this usually get named after individual toys/characters, i.e. (Bulkhead Syndrome), other franchises (Pokeformers), and/or obvious descriptions (shellformer, Gold Plastic Syndrome), with the latter two often ending in -former.
Either way, I want that Starscream, and maybe Shockwave too.
