Full colour pix at ehobby (http://www.e-hobby.co.jp/shopdetail/002013000010/) That Lambo looks glorious! Hoping the complexity is up there with the Alternity toys.

He's so tiny! And is that a painted black windscreen?
Alt mode looks very good as it should for a licensed vehicle.

The head sculpt is terrible, the windows don't appear to be transparent (even the original toy had this), and he looks even smaller in those pics. I'd pay $60-$70 tops.

I know he's supposed to be shorter. But not THAT short, surely? His head should at LEAST reach Prime's chest?!

Using the image of Sideswipe standing in front of Optimus, his head comes up to the line on the red part of his abdomen... which make it a head shorter than Alt/BT Sideswipe, and the same height as Voyager TFPrime Megatron & FE Optimus.
The price will be easier for us to swallow, as it is closer to our Voyager price-point than the Americans (which is only $20, compared to our $45-50). That means we only need twice the TFPrime quality for it to be worth it (that won't be difficult), while the Americans would need it to be 4 times as good to be worth the expense of it.
In other words, if it was priced at $160 instead of $80, how many of us would buy it (because that's what the American fans would see from that pricing).

Yeah, he's just giving us a site that has the images mirrored, as the ehobby site uses java, and isn't in english... so can be difficult.
Seibertron also has the images mirrored (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/color-images-of-mp12-lambor-sideswipe/25073/) (because TFW was having issues this week with too many users overloading the system).

What the hell has happened to MP size wise:eek:, Sideswipe should at least be shoulder height as far as I'm concerned, Smaller than a BT you say:(. I will buy this as it's a completey new mould but I'm a Sad Panda:(.

Considering they're obviously in the same or very close scale now that they're real objects, don't you think the robots are now the size they *should* have been in the cartoons? At least until they show Soundwave and ruin everything!

Pricewise this toy is going to retail for 6000JPY (AU$76), but if you preorder they give you a 12% discount so it becomes 5359JPY (AU$68). That's a fair price for a MP IMHO - certainly much better than MP10's RRP. Otherwise one could wait for Hasbro to release their version and risk an inferior colour scheme -- I would expect this toy to sell here at a similar price range as MP Rodimus; probably $80 at first, then later reduced to $60 if the toy doesn't move.

As for the non-transparency of the windows -- I suspect that TakTOMY were unable to engineer the toy to give it a driver's compartment in vehicle mode, so rather than displaying the unslight robot kibble they decided to cover it up with painted windows. I admit that this is disappointing for a Masterpiece as previous MPs have had a driver/pilot's compartment engineered in (does MP Grimlock have that pilot's compartment on the back of his dinobot mode like G1 Grimlock? I can't remember atm).

I'm still impressed with Sideswipe, I couldn't be happier that finally an MP quality Lamborghini licenced version of him is coming out.

The alt mode does look great except for the blacked out windows, but the size in robot mode?!
That's next to MP10, be almost tiny next to MP1, wouldn't be much bigger than a G1 Sideswipe! :(

I could be wrong but I think that I can see through the windshield a bit. It could just be very dark glass that looks mat in the photo.

What concerns me more is that the tires appear to be plastic which is unacceptable for a figure within a 'collector' premium range.

Aren't these pics usually hand painted prototypes? I'd imagine it'll just be a very dark tinting effect on the final toy, but i actually quite like the contrast it creates anyway.

How can you see that? The photo with MP-10 doesn't give anything away to it's tyres being rubber but we know they are. I think it's highly unlikely they'll be anything but rubber.
Hmm now that i look at that front photo tho yeah the glare on the tyres near his feet seems to indicate plastic.. that'd be a true wtf if it's the case.

My concern with the Hasbro version is that the white won't look as pearly brilliant as this one and be more of a off-creamy white; similar to the difference between United and RtS Jazz. Mind you -- that's not _that_ bad... a helluva lot less painful to behold than Hasbro Grey(TM)! Hasbro would have to make a concerted effort to screw up the colours on this toy. What they ought to do is give it transparent windows. I'm not too fussed about the size difference. 1984 G1 Sideswipe was pretty short next to 1984 Optimus Prime. Might take a comparison pic later tonight.

Oh man, how awesome would it be if MP Soundwave came with a "mini-Soundwave" in radio-cassette player mode! Kinda like how MP Convoy came with that "mini-Megatron" gun - i.e. a miniaturised model of him in alt mode to simulate mass-shifting! :D What they should do is release an eHobby or Amazon exclusive repaint of MP Soundwave as Soundblaster - repaint Laserbeak as Buzzsaw. Oh yeah! (I personally wouldn't get it - not that much of a fan of Soundblaster or Buzzsaw, but there would be enough people who'd want it - and as a limited exclusive I reckon it'd work).

HLJ have just listed (http://www.hlj.com/product/TKT45997) with a 20% pre-order incentive. Aprox $60 + shipping.

This usually means Amiami and Anime Export etc will be even cheaper, but HLJ still has their 20% off EMS shipping, so...

That looks awesomely like a real Countach! I'm impressed. I agree he's a bit small but in order to fit in mp-10's trailer I suppose that's the size he had to be.

The only thing I don't like is the size of the Autobot insignia. Looks to big in alt mode.

Almost the same size as Alternity Starscream then and thus probably 1/32 if anything.

Hmm.. so it really is not much bigger than Classics scale.

However, besides the size, this is exactly what I want from a figure. One that looks exactly like G1 Sideswipe but merged with the cartoon Sideswipe and with better articulation.

I was more than happy with Classics Sideswipe before, but MP Swipe just looks so much better! The extra engineering will justify the increased price to me - and I'm sure when Hasbro release it it will be much cheaper. The Takara version is about $80, so I'm guessing about $50 in the US, loosely based on MP-10 (wasn't that about $250, whereas Hasbro's is expected to be about $100?).

Anyway, if they are using this smaller size, but with this awesome looking accuracy & engineering, then I hope they can release a figure every 2 months or so.

Thanks for that Kurdt.

Still very keen on this, mainly because I'm a sucker for lamborghinis.

Not sure I'm a massive fan of the shade of red - it's a bit orangey especially compared to the G1 version.

EDIT: Although the pictures you posted in post 24 are a nicer shade of red.

as everyones said, it's just way to small.. i don't care if it fits in mp-10's trailer or not.. (i'm not playing Knight Rider)
still if its around 60 or 70. i might still buy it, or wait for a Hasbro version and get it on sale at TRU. (if mp hotrod is anything to go by) should come in at the $15 - $20 mark:p

Oh right, I see. :) To be fair, I think this toy should be more complex than an average Deluxe -- so probably $40 is a fairer price. Alternities retailed for about $50-55, which I've always felt was too much (considering that Binaltechs retailed at that range). But given that alternities do retail at that level, $50-55 might be acceptable. The pre-order price is $68, and apparently you get the exclusive chrome piledrivers with it.

I picked up HMP hotrod for 50 on sale at TRU(i thought that was insanely cheap!) then 2 weeks later he was discounted even further. this was only a few months ago

and yeah, i was just thinking about the price diff between TMP Hotrod and HMP Hotrod and then applying it to Sideswipe. It will most likely not happen but....

Thanks Tober - yeah, I've been trying to work out if the piledrivers can fold back in somehow or if they're too big and are removable like the jackhammers. I think I can live without the Amazon one unless I can get it at the same price. I suspect I'll be buying the mould again in future anyway, for G2 Sideswipe and Tigertrack and maybe Red Alert and Deep Cover.
