The back of the truck looks very poor. Easy pass. But happy to see the weapons lock in place (once out of the box). Be interested to see a robot size comparison against ROTF Leader Prime and/or some Prime deluxes.

Good review as always Kal El! But that Optimus is just nasty with that rear truck mode! Such a shame. The whole thing looks cheap and nasty.

Thanks for the review Kal, quality as always. It really is such a shame about the (back of the) truck mode, they could have at least had a panel on the legs to hide the arms IMO.

Added poll.

The stats...

Optimus Prime
Series - Transformers Prime
Sub-line - Robots in Disguise
Size/class - Weaponizer
New/remould/redeco - New
Wave - 1
Released here - June 2012
Approximate Retail Price - $60-70
Approximate Size - 30cm
Allegiance - Autobot
Alt-mode - Truck
Main Features/Gimmicks - button-release cannons in both modes, LED light. "4 modes"
Main Colours - Red, blue, grey.
Main Accessories - gun

And the official pic...

NOTE - unlike Bumblebee, the truck mode of Optimus requires you to unlock the front grill to be able to "launch" the cannons... which defeats the purpose of a button-activated weapons mode. The robot mode can do it, and both modes of Bumblebee does it, just not the truck mode of Optimus.

(and the truck mode is a mess of robot parts and empty space at the back, that could have been easily fixed with a couple of hinged panels, that could have folded away behind the legs in robot mode)

I feel the urge to buy this even though I hate the back of the truck. Nice robot mode. Would this be a better fit scale wise with the other Prime figures?

I like the gattling gun thing.

But thats all I like, the sacrifice of the rest of the toy for that gimmick is a shame

Again the robot mode itself is good, just a poor execution of the gimmick

I was convinced that the robot mode is quite good (despite the backpack) but just not enough for me to put the money down.

I was going to get this but I think now, I'll pass. Better to put that money on a FE Takara Prime rather than an average quasi-Leader/Ultra.

IMO you should get a toy because you genuinely want it... not just to review it for others. If Hasbro wants to provide you with a free sample to review, then go for it. Otherwise I wouldn't be wasting my own money to review a toy just for other people's sake. ;)

its as simple as this: I buy toys because i like toys, i dont just buy toys to review them, i review them because i buy them.

That's cool. :) I was concerned for a second that you were contemplating buying Weaponiser Bumblebee purely for the sake of reviewing it for others and not for your own sake. If you want the toy for yourself, then yeah go for it. :D
