From Japan via twitter (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/japanese-transformers-40/masterpiece-mp-12-sideswipe-lambor-test-shot-175528/) is an image of an early test shot of the upcoming Masterpiece Sideswipe toy... to show us how the toy is progressing.
This tests out the moulds, to make sure they end up producing what was intended.
The toy is being released in October, in under 3 months time, so they don't have much time left.

Looks very much like a final base-plastic colour test to me, what one could expect the figure to look like sans tampographs and/or stickers and such; looks quite nice at any rate. ;)

Cant wait for this toy to be released :D Sideswipe would be my favorite Autobot right from childhood (I was always envious of my older brother who had G1 Sideswipe while I got Red Alert )
Besides being a pretty cool character in the G1 series, who doesn't like Lamborghini's??:D

Since I was about 5, I've always preferred a Lambo over a Ferrari! ;):D

He's starting to grow on me. If I see him locally, I might pick one up.

I hope they keep his windscreen clear on the production models

Another photo of the test-shot has been released (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/another-mp12-lambor-test-shot-from-shogo-hasui/25502/), showing off the poseability of the figure... but also shows very simplistic sculpting/engineering of the panels for a MP toy (it looks more like a Classicverse toy in this photo).

I would have always agreed with you… until the 455 Italia was released. My god that is an awesome looking car!

Much to my surprise, i saw this test shot the other day at Yodobashi Camera in Umeda! They have it out on display along with the brown repaint of Prime Breakdown. I did a double take and then annoyingly realised my wife didn't bring the camera with her, dammit!
It was horribly mis-transformed, but i could see the intent. I'm starting to lose hope that the wheels will be rubber... even tho i remember seeing MP Rodimus proto pictures that didn't have rubber wheels (end product did), this test shot definitely has plastic wheels.
It does appear to be a very simplistic toy - the legs are hollow on the inside which was a disappointment. The headsculpt is very pointy towards the front, i'm not sure i like it either.
I tried not to get swayed by the lacking paint, but honestly, even as an MP lover... it wasn't looking good. I hope the paint job pulls it altogether!

There's where I bought my Legion Class Roadbuster from! (w/ discount! :D)
Btw, if you have any photos of yourself in Osaka w/ Transfans feel free to share them here (http://otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=12608). :)

Hmmm... well, I've preordered mine from eHobby, which means I got the early bird discount. So I guess I should be glad that I'm not paying full RRP for it. :o (plus I get the exclusive chrome piledriver hands)

Negative, didn't meet up with anyone! Wanted all the goodies for myself :P

Double Negative, we left our phones in Aus cause we don't need em here! Looks like they're continuing to release photos of the test shot anyway.
Maybe someone else in Osaka can head to Yodobashi and take a few pics?
I always forget which members are living in Japan!

There is an advantage of collective bargaining -- at the Osaka fan meet I attended, because there was a group of looking to buy, Tiger Convoy and I managed to haggle with the manager at Hero Gangu and convinced him to give us 17% off everything that we purchased there! :) Plus the joys of just spending a day talking about Transformers. :D Socialising with fellow fans is always the highlight of any meet that I go to (I don't often get to spend hours having in-depth discussions about Transformers in Japanese ;)). \(^_^)/

Ode to a Grasshopper is the one active member here who is in Osaka. The other Japanese fans who attended the meet were from Shiga/Kyoto & Nagoya, but we all decided to meet up in Osaka. :)
...but you're right about there being less "competition" when hunting for TFs on your own. I personally don't recall anyone vying for the same toy at the Osaka Meet, but I've been to other local meets where it's happened -- first come first serve and you often get pipped at the post by someone else who gets to the dealer table just a few minutes before you! :p Then again, I'm not big on collecting vintage toys... most of what I picked up from Japan was Transformers Prime First Edition & Dark of the Moon stuff; toys that are considered rare and highly sought after here, but was fairly common there. But still, it does happen to me sometimes... like when The_Damned strolled into Parramatta TRU just a few minutes before me and grabbed the last TF Prime Wheeljack toy! ;) (now he's pegwarming everywhere :p But I was mightily jelly on that day :p)
