From the desks of the TakaraTomy design team - one of them has cannibalised a G1 Magnus Trailer and wrapped it around a Masterpiece Prime: http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/japanese-transformers-40/transformers-behind-the-secrets-of-transformers-tv-special-in-japan-175692/

Yeah, one of the TakaraTOMY designers also tweeted a concept image earlier this week too. So it looks like they're considering the idea of MP Magnus (whether or not they'll go ahead with it is not yet known)

Hopefully they are seriously considering this option. I don't own MP10 so I can't check this, but doesn't MP10 have slots at strategic places on the legs and cab that could be used to attach armour to? (I seem to remember this being discussed prior to the MP10 release).

Either way, cracking idea and I hope this comes to fruition.

It looks very 'kitbashy' at this point. The armor is mostly composed of a cut up G1 Magnus trailer made to fit the MP-10 mold.

I think that this is something the designer wanted to do and I really hope it comes to fruition but I doubt it.

Clearly, judging by the look on the designer's face that he's working on an armoured MP Ultra Magnus right now, as we speak :D

A couple of really good signs - this photo and the tweet of the concept image earlier this week (any chance you could post it here gok?). Me be watching this space very closely!

I also remember the discussion about MP-10 having attachment points for armour. Hopefully these images mean something is in the pipeline.

I thought that was officially put to rest by Tomy, I can't remember where but it may have been an interview.

I really do hope that it comes to be, an MP Magnus is something that I have been wanting for years, since MP-02 'White Prime' came out.

Yeah, it could just be one individual designer's pipe dream and may not reflect what TakTOM is officially considering doing atm.

Anyway, here (http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/309032_10150978253596711_1900979325_n.jpg) is the aforementioned tweeted concept image.

That's the same 'prototype' put through the same Photoshop filter as the banner at the top of this site. :)

Yeah, but at a closer angle, and Ultra Magnus isn't as obscured by Optimus Prime as in the first shot. :) Atm this mock-up kitbash is all we've seen afaik.

Well, looks like Movieverse Prime lives on... "All Hail Mighty Murder Prime!" :p:D

Slightly more seriously; this certainly shows that the idea/concept of 'Magnus Armour' is alive in the engineer's minds, but whether the TakTom/Hasbro "Powers that be" feel the same is yet to be seen IMO - Sure does look like the idea has merit, but would people want to buy a 2nd MP-10, white, with a new trailer? ;)

If it's reasonably priced, yes. :) Though given the track record of TakTOM's MP pricing lately, I'd be leaning toward waiting for a local Hasbro version. :p They could also make it more enticing by giving it additional goodies that MP10 doesn't have, other than the trailer -- like maybe a Sparkplug Witwicky figure, or maybe "future" (adult) Spike Witwicky. Or heck, even a Daniel Witwicky (in his normal jumpsuit, not in the exo suit).

Also, if I were TakTOM, I'd also release a limited exclusive Diaclone-coloured MP Magnus through eHobby or Amazon Japan, and that toy would come with an exclusive Human Ultra Magnus (http://tfwiki.net/w2/images2/a/a9/OnlyHuman_human_Ultra_Magnus.jpg) figure instead of a Witwicky. I'd also consider including a simple Legion or Scout Class sized rendition of Powered Buggy (Diaclone Powered Convoy's equivalent of Roller that could actually transform into a robot (http://diaclone.net/orid/dia057/05721.jpg) but was omitted when brought over to Transformers).

A G1 accurate Masterpiece of Ultra Magnus would definitely be welcomed...that aside what an awesome office Takara/Tomy staff have to work in :D computers and transformer bits and pieces everywhere...so jealous!!
