http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/4687/a1vhnbhciaaslrjpglarge.jpg

Solar Requiem - G1 mould Shattered Glass Soundwave, Batbot, Slugfest, Blaster, Ramhorn, Rewind and Eject.

It will be a very special new year indeed.

It's Soundwave again, so I'll be compelled to order them. :(

G1 characters maybe, but are they g1 molds?
That artwork looks awfully like the SG soundwave they just released, right down to the headband. And given that the cassette Dino's haven't been reissued (KO don't count) it seems unlikely to release them this way

I think Soundwave definitely looks like a tapedeck here, buttons and all. The botcon toy was a van.

And with this, the Collector Club has definitely sold out, to be a toy dealer instead of a fan club... "by fans for fan".

The dino casette is Slugfest, who was re-released as part of the Encore 17 cassette set.

It's the combiner Headmaster dinos that were never re-released (lost/destroyed mold).

Just curious, why is Rewind/Eject hovering saintly whilst emanating holy light? I thought SG Autobots were evil?

The Gen1 moulds are still current, as they were only just used last year (for the tape decks and 4 of the tapes) and about 3 years ago (for Overkill). (it's not the combiner dinos... but that would be awesome)

They are just doing a Shattered Glass colouring, which is something the BotCon surveys have been asking for a few years now (if we'd want Gen1 toys redecoed).
With the recent partnership between FunPub and Ehobby, the collector club now has another avenue to getting their toy ideas produced (as Hasbro are difficult to get too many things done in a reasonable amount of time). It feels like FunPub are just getting greedy, and have turned to a second source for their toy ideas. Ehobby can more easily get access to Gen1 moulds, so now FunPub can sell more toys based on its Shattered Glass Universe. They first had access to Classicverse moulds with Hasbro, and now they get access to Gen1 moulds and any other mould that Hasbro weren't easily willing to access or approve.

I think there has been a bit of overkill with the tapes and tape-decks lately... but there is always some interest in Gen1 moulds, which would make them sell well if they do a decent colouring... based on something a little more interesting than FunPub's own (fanfic) comic.

And FunPub are still hocking off their last product line.... now it's just gonna be a continuous sale of toys by them, with the Club and Convention in the background, as half-assed efforts (since the toys are their main money earner).

Interesting about Funpub and e-Hobby. I wonder if we will see even more Masterpieces coming out. E-Hobby love those things... :(

Is it known what's happening with the comic? Will there be a Japanese exclusive version too?

Just curious, why is Rewind/Eject hovering saintly whilst emanating holy light? I thought SG Autobots were evil?

My first thought was Primus/Emirate Xaaron... so maybe it's a "neutral", leaving both tape decks with just two cassettes each out of the 7-pack set.

The dino casette is Slugfest, who was re-released as part of the Encore 17 cassette set.

I was thinking it was Overkill because it had a long tail, because too much of it is hidden behind Soundwave. I just tried looking up both Slugfest and Overkill, and only Slugfest shows up, in that orange/grey colour... so Slugfest it is.

Looks like it's just as I said, except that there's only one humanoid Autobot cassette. Blue Ramhorn is gorgeous.

Batbot?

I was mildly interested in these, but they look all a bit meh, and 13900 yen is a bit much for what you get.

Maybe if I win the lotto...:D

I am undecided by these, I have never been a fan of the SG stuff.. There is a lot of pastelly Colour there that is hard to get excited over.... If they include the rewind/eject in a gold chrome that might be more interesting .......

Oh eHobby now you know, you hang out with FunPub and this is the kind of crap you will produce.

Also, people are guess the yellow tape is Solarbot, on some G2 cardback proofs Solarbot is listed as a free (I guess mailaway) figure -> http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Solarbot

Batbot?

In the same way as Shattered Glass Drift is Deadpool, Shattered Glass Ratbat is a mustard coloured millionaire, but by night he is the vengeful blue, grey and gold Batbot. (This toy is in Batbot rather than Ratbat colours.)

13,900 yen is about US$175... so if FunPub are going to sell it as well, then it'll be about US$300. :p

So, the set is about AU$170, which is more than the two Reissue Sets last year (which were about US$60 each I think).

I hope their subscription scheme failed to attract their target of pre-orders, so that they don't see the value of pumping out so many (over-priced) toys.

In the original artwork, it clearly showed the dino to be Dial, which was only KO. I would love for them to be able to do those extra dinos (in any deco)

 No it didn't, Reillyd - it was Slugfest there too or I wouldn't have said so in the first post. One can see Slugfest's front and back spines, the uniquely-shaped gun in his rear cassette holes, a bump on his nose, short stumpy legs and all the stripy and moulded markings on the toy. Dial has no spines, a gun in his front cassette holes, nothing on his nose, long rear legs and completely different markings and moulding. It's Slugfest in both pictures.

That and Dial's an Autobot, so why would he be with Soundwave? :V

I assume the headband that came with Botcon Soundwave wouldn't fit on this version of him, right?

I wonder... is it worth it for Batbot?

Blaster looks completely Yawntastic. I'd like to see him with some stickers on. It looks like those grey ones are for him, but where are they supposed to go?
Soundwave looks all right but he ALWAYS looks all right. New cassettes colours are always welcome too.

Looks like the golden cassette-bot is included in the set, according to this news article (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/japanese-transformers-40/new-photos-of-ehobby-shattered-glass-soundwave-and-blaster-set-175862/).
Solar-bot is the name (which we already knew), but I thought it might be just a comic character... or even a JP pre-order exclusive (since it wasn't included as a toy picture with the others on the ehobby site above). But now looks it could be included in the actual box set.

Yen 13900 = 178 US dollars at the current rate. $171 Au$

Not surprised.

195U$ = 187AU$

I didn't know if they were definitely being made to order or eHobby is giving the club a certain amount. Since I didn't like the look of the second half of that sentence above, I ordered mine just now. Yay!

griffin
13th September 2012, 10:30 AM
That has been clarified as - FunPub can order as many as they want from Ehobby, but their cut-off with Ehobby is two weeks before the pre-order period ends, which means guessing a final figure... so if too many people leave it until the last minute, FunPub could sell out of the extras they ordered.

Robotkingdom get most of their stock from Hasbro HK, and they generally don't include comics. It's been the case with eHobby and alternity stuff in the past, but off the top of my head I can't remember what the eHobby items were. :/ Maybe because it's a TFCC item it could be different?

Box images of the Ehobby version (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/new-ehobby-tfcc-sg-soundwave-vs-blaster-images/26425/), done to look like the original Gen1 Verses sets (on the front). They use FunPub's Mirrorverse version of the 1984 battle scene on the back.

I was about to order one from BBTS (I don't trust FunPub's shipping quotes), but decided to ask which version they were getting (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=TAK11566&mode=retail). I thought that they might be getting the English version (since they are in America), but they replied to say that they are getting the Japanese version.
So it doesn't look like BBTS are getting in any of the English (FunPub) versions... which is what I was hoping to get.
Looks like I may have to pay scalper prices when it gets released.

Tetsuwan Convoy
29th January 2013, 01:50 PM
The way I read it was that funpub were doing the English version and eHobby the Japanese one. That being the case, I bet that BBTS would find it easier to order more quantities from eHobby than funpub, which of course would require membership.

I guess. Although 1 membership covers as many orders as you like doesn't it? Still, I know what I'd go for. Mainly coz I hate the club :p

griffin
30th January 2013, 08:21 AM
I would have thought the demand for the English version would be higher in America, and that the shipping from FunPub would offset the higher price of the FunPub version. But BBTS ended up charging $55 more than FunPub's price, for the Japanese version.
Ehobby version - about US$157 (13,900yen)
FunPub version - US$195
BBTS (Ehobby) - US$250 (that mark-up includes air-shipping from Japan though)

After a couple more emails, they've told me that they are pretty sure that they aren't getting any of the English version, because they haven't received a solicitation for it from FunPub yet. (pre-orders were 3 months ago, and I guess FunPub didn't see the need to beg BBTS to buy some)

griffin
30th January 2013, 08:30 AM
