What do you think of the new bank notes?

Is this because people have managed to copy the notes such as the fifty?

They look ok but I generally don't see notes long enough to admire them. They usually change into little 5cent pieces.:D

Working at Crown Casino, our surveillence team tend to find the $50 note being counterfeited the most. But this is the first i've heard of new notes being introduced.

They're....... colourful. where's the fiver? they really need to drop 5c pieces too. They don't work on any parking or snack machine

Heard a guy on the radio from the reserve bank a few days ago talking about this.

While they are still relatively hard to counterfeit, they want to update them before they start to have big counterfeiting problems.

But as for who's on them and what they look like, I don't care. It's only money.

The larger notes will always be the best ones to counterfeit for a greater return by small parties... but the bigger crime syndicates would be able to do smaller notes and make it profitable. (the smaller notes would also be less scrutinised to see if they are fake, making it easier to use them - probably why the $100 isn't done as much, as people rarely use them, so would be checked over more often)

It's a shame that the notes have to be replaced from time to time, as they can become iconic after a while.
And to be honest... I think that by the time the old notes are finally completely removed from circulation to eliminate any fake ones, the new ones would be counterfeited by crime syndicates already. A never-ending cycle.

They've yet to make convincing counterfeits of the existing notes.

They're very difficult to do. We used to have them slip by tellers occasionally in bulk deposits, but they were generally pretty easy to identify.

Even the best ones our fraud department had examples of were flawed, with obvious tells.

I'd known about the plan to update them, but mockups I saw (admittedly years ago) weren't anywhere near as colourful as this.

Personally I prefer a more subdued scheme like the current generation, but I understand the need for vivid contrast.

the notes are more of a solid colour than the existing notes but the portrait designs and the background of the note itself (which is supposed to be very complex to defeat counterfeiters) is seemingly simple. The portraits are horrid, they need tobe redone by the people who did the current notes. The design in the middle of each note is not too bad. But, with the portraits, the worst part is the use of what looks like photos in the background? am i wrong? what happened to the numerous elements of the portraits life that are normally in the background?
