Just a quick drop in to give people a heads up on something.

About a monthy ago I stopped into my fiancee's local Toyworld to see if like with other exclusives, Masterpiece Optimus might also be going through them.

They didn't have any pictures but what the manager there said said was that their two big exclusives were going to be Omega Supreme and Optimus Prime and they were going to be over $100. They were also expecting Generations Voyagers so it's possible that these are the asian exclusive Generations figures.

Considering that the only large scale Omega Supreme currently around that would be in that price range is the YOTS, my guess is that that was the Prime and Omega they were referring to. I'll leave it for people here to confirm and clarify and if I get a chance to contact them in the next few weeks, I'll let people know what I find out.

I doubt this to be accurate, why would an exclusive go to a toy store chain the majority of australians can't access?

Grey market import. It happened before with Toyworld stores in Brisbane importing SDCC/Asia exclusive Alternators Rodimus. I was kinda hoping the same could happen with SDCC Bruticus, but that seems unlikely now.

read Bowspearers' quote, that's ok, I can wait...

upon reading that quote, it's not grey market imports, it's Hasbro giving them exclusive toys.

I agree with you, grey imports is the likely explanation, but again, the original quote ( & info ) states "exclusive" something I highly doubt

I think over $100 for that fat optimus is asking waaayyyy too much.

Even with a shiny new box.

It's not the first time they've bypassed HasbroAU and imported directly. Often at far superior retail prices. I remember when they did it with GI Joe, and it was joe heaven for under ten bucks.

I'm not debating the fact Toyworld often bypasses HasbroAU, I'm casting doubt on the "exclusivity". Importing them from wherever themselves does not make them exclusives. That is called intelligent marketing.

Just called up Toyworld Fyshwick and spoke to the manager to see if I could get an update. They still don't have any more info or a release date, but they've taken down my number to call me once they have more info. I'll keep you guys posted.

Also having noticed the definition debate, I wasn't excluding the possibility of other stores getting these 2. However by the same token, this doesn't seem like it's the sort of thing that's going to wind up in major retail stores (eg Kmart, BigW, etc) - hence my describing them as "exclusives" - be they Toyworld-only or a shared retailer exclusive type deal.

Would be cool if the YOTS Omega Supreme showed up at retail. Would save me from importing it.

Couldn't agree more dude :), though I'd be sort of concerned as to the price that local retailers would charge us. :o

Yeah, they'll probably find a way to f-ck us over.

Might want to edit the swearing dude, it's against the board's rules. :o
But I agree; one way or another be it Hasbro AU or Local Retailers, they'll likely find a way to bugger us around on prices sadly. :(

How do you edit? I don't have the edit button appearing under my post.

Really?... Oh! - It's because you're still listed as a 'New/Inactive' member, you'll have to wait for a mod to fix it I guess; No biggy but yeah, we try to keep it a little more PG here purely because parents & kids often visit the site. ;):)

I am a bit on the fence on this guy. I like the way he looks but have heard a lot of bad things about the mold which makes me a bit apprehensive (never experienced it myself).

There is also the 3rd party Omega which if turns out to be really good, I may buy instead of this one.

Yeah I have no real interest in it. I passed on the original release as I wasn't a fan, plus for such a 'meh' toy it would take up an awful lot of space.

Still, if you're keen, its a pretty decent price.

I've got both omega supreme and omega sentinel and while they aren't great toys to play with they do look nice on display. I'm waiting for amazon and big bad to list them before I decide where I'll be getting it from.

I'll get Omega as a display piece, most likely. He will tower over the deluxes, which is good.

Some comparative prices from BBTS of the pair (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/bbts-sponsor-news-bbts-shared-exclusive-tf-year-of-the-snake-prime-omega-supreme/26312/), to give an idea of how much these will be in general, or if they showed up here - Omega Supreme $100, Optimus $80.

It shows how much RK are now scalping their toys if BBTS has something cheaper, despite BBTS having to ship their stock across the pacific from Asia, and being known for over-charging on high-demand items, instead of selling items at a set profit margin like retailers.

I doubt this to be accurate, why would an exclusive go to a toy store chain the majority of australians can't access?

Two reasons

1) Because we can access it. Toyworld is one of the last chain of independents Australia has. They even have an online store (admittedly, pretty crap range, but a Mr Toys Toyworld will often do mail order).

2) Kmart/Myer/Target may have been burned by previous large items like DOTM Optimus Prime which has been on clearance.

Quick update on this. Spoke to the manager at Toyworld Fyshwick a couple of weekends ago. Apparently what he was telling me about has been pushed back to next year now- apparently it was coming in through F.O.B. (perhaps somene else can shed light on just what that is) . I'll keep tabs on it and I'll pass on info as I hear it.

Im hoping this will be available in Toys R Us in North America. If not this will not be cheap to ship.

Toyworld is kind of everywhere too. I can think of four or five near me anywhere from five minutes to an hour away.

You serious NSW doesn't have Toyworld  I didn't know that. Sort of blows, but at the same time I hardly get anything from the ones near me. They're always full of nothing most of the time :(

Just to clarify what kup is saying, NSW does have Toyworld (http://www.toyworld.com.au/?q=taxonomy/term/8) however there are none in Sydney.

Sydney and surrounds =/= NSW ;)

There are actually 27 Toyworlds in NSW according to their website (http://www.toyworld.com.au/?q=taxonomy/term/8)

Thanks for the correction but given those distances from Sydney, there may as well be none! :)

I should have said boring Sydney, probably more accurate in the broader boring scale too.

Toys R Us gets exclusives all the time and there's not a single store in Tassie, but we've got 4 Toyworlds. Just sayin'.

No you got it wrong Sydney doesn't matter so that's why there is none there.
