From TFW2005:
News from Autobase Aichi (http://snakas.blog95.fc2.com/).
Prototype of new series "TRANSFORMERS GT" to be showcased at Dengeki's 20th anniversary festival (http://dengeki.com/20th/cooperation/index.html) at Makuhari Messe convention centre on Oct 20-21.
The promotional image provided suggests that it will be a remolded Super GT race version (http://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/motul-production/images/masonry_bricks/second_pictures/17621/big/Super%20GT_Tr%C3%A9luyer%20-%20Motoyama_Team%20Motul%20Autech_Nissan%20GT-R%20R35%20%C2%A9Nismo%20Team%20Motul%20Autech.jpg? 1332774023) of the Alternity GT-R mold with sponsor logos.

I'll probably cave in and buy this. I just hope the series consists of more than 1 figure. Wouldn't mind seeing some older Super GT cars like the Calsonic R34!

The modified car mode (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/takara-tomy-super-gt-optimus-prime/26013/) doesn't inspire me that much, but the word "series" makes me hope that we see new moulds in that Alternity style (detailing and diecast)... as they've pretty much over-used the existing ones now (5 versions of Optimus, 4 of Megatron and Starscream, 3 of Bumblebee).
Hope they aren't just planning to just remould/redeco the Optimus mould several times, as race car fans know that the one form of car-body is used by many drivers in races.

That looks different enough to consider purchasing. More interesting however is that new Breakdown figure.

At least these ones have new heads.

That Toy Hobby Market logo has me thinking some of these will be exclusives. :(

If they have all that sponsor deco-ing on the outsides, they will be the more interesting 3 of the 8 of that mould. (like the TF3 wreckers)

I don't see how Maximus is related to Fort Max at all. The head doens't look at that Maximus-y. Unless it's based on the smaller robot head...

The head on Maximus looks like it isn't remolded at all tbh.
I'm surprised that any of you guys are surprised that Takara's choosing big name characters regardless of aesthetics!
One can only hope with this news, that Star Saber is next in line for Encore release!

Not surprised *cough*Dai Atlas*cough.*
But they did give Star Saber a new head so I assumed that Maximus would get one as well. That would make logical sense wouldn't it? And that is where I went wrong.

update on these Super GT Alternity figures. According to Autobase Aichi, who has read the flyer handed out at the event, the releases are to be Optimus and Star Saber in March 2013 and so far Fort Max isn't confirmed. The two confirmed figures will have unique weapons - Optimus' is "Optimus Rifle in disguise of an impact wrench" and Star Saber will be equipped with "Saber Blade in disguise of refuelling machine"

This basic mold is vying for most used along with the classics seekers by now!.... But, I will probably pick up Star Saber - since this is the only place to get rubber tyres any more and the whole shell is new at least. Also in the hope that the line will extend to other car models ... but probably wishful thinking.

Ha, but since that Seeker design is up to at least 26 different decos by now, the Alternity Nissan GT-R has a lot of work to even into the same game, let alone league. :) (Plus there are obviously heaps of other moulds it will have to overtake along the way. But good luck to it.)

I know you're kidding, but do you mean a specific Bumblebee mould, because I can't think of a Bumblebee mould that's had as many redecos and remoulds as the 'Classics' Seeker one?

Heh, I was joking to a mate about them taking the Kiss Players route... Remove diecast, add token figure, charge twice as much. Making them store exclusives and never releasing the final mold would make for delicious bitterness.

Thankfully there's not much diecast to remove and it'd probably help the stability if they did :) As long as they're articulated and can sit in the car i don't mind the addition of figurines, or else they'll just go in the accessories bin!

Transformers Super GT (SGT01) GT-R Prime (http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=TOY-RBT-02778&page=top) and Transformers Super GT (SGT02) GT-R Saber (http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=TOY-RBT-02779&page=top) are up for pre-order at Amiami for 7,850 JPY (21% off) each, for release in March 2013.
So they may not be store exclusives after all, but they are just as expensive.

According to another Japanese shop the box size is W220 × H210 × D90mm, about double the size of a regular Alternity release.
Not happy with the price hike for what is looking like a 3-4 inch figure based on that information.
At least with wide release there's the chance for clearance prices at some point i guess.

(I am assuming thats the 'u' with a " on it. The computer I am on doesn't handle Japanese font.
Yeah, its a pretty rare occurrence in my experience, mainly because many Japanese can't pronounce it anyway, kind of defeating the point a bit.
The only place I have seen it used is on eVAngelion.

They've always been really good for me. Great customer service and very fast shipping. The only down side is that occasionally boxes get damaged during shipping as they pack with minimal protection, usually just a few layers of styrofoam - hasn't happened to me yet tho.
Oh, and you pay upfront with shipping on arrival. You also have to request shipping, otherwise it just sits there - similar to Toy Wholesaler.

Discounting (what look to be fairly minimal) retooling, these will be the 4th-7th reuse of this mould. I remember picking up a silver Alternity Convoy, it'll give you an idea on whether you like the mould or not.

The Optimus has been shown (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/super-gt-optimus-prime-on-display-at-fuji-speedway/26217/) at a Japanese racing event.
Anime Export (http://www.anime-export.com/search?search=transformers+gt) have them for 30% off ($88 each). They don't always have the best packing tho.
I thought at first that the US$120+ (full) price was for a case of two or three, since the originals were about $40 each (http://www.robotkingdom.com/services/eshop/main.php?action=list&CatType=Category&CatID=1_78&lang=us).... Can these 'slight remould with new paint and figurine', really be worth a tripling of the price? Even the past exclusive ones were "only" $80 at markup places like RK in the link above. It's not even a new mould, which would have been cheaper.
I wonder what makes them think anyone would pay more than the price of a Hasbro Masterpiece Optimus (which is US$100-120) for something the size of a Deluxe, that has been released 5 times already.

Because they can, and so they will. They sold out almost instantly on Amiami. BBTS has also stopped pre-orders.
MP-10 Convoy sold well at double Hasbro's price point - different markets.
The GT series probably won't be available outside of Japan.
Licensing and exclusivity go a long way. They could probably double the price again if they can get a picture of Hatsune Miku on the bonnet, include her figure with it, and limit the release to 5000 pieces.

They contain diecast in varying amounts (mostly for support structures), but their shells aren't diecast like Binaltech

I would add, the use of die cast in the Alternity Convoy mould makes it feel nice and weighty in alt mode, but actually hinders the robot mode since all the die cast ends up around the head or sticking out the back, which makes it a challenge to get into a decent pose. Taking out all the die cast would make it a better figure.

If they do come with die-cast, the price seems about right. If not, I don't see how they can justify the price being double that of MP Sideswipe which is also an officially licensed vehicle and of the same scale.

It's only a matter of time before the girls are taller than the robots, are of superior plastic, better articulation, comes more accessories (+interchangeable heads, hands, haircuts, clothes, jewellery, fashion accessories), have better paint aps & sculpted detailing -- all that to go with a Micron-sized robot purchase which commands double the current price ;) Wait.. what are we collecting again? :p

Interesting, those race queens would be roughly 1/18 in scale, about the size of a Star Wars or G.I.Joe figure. Also roughly double the scale of the 1/32 Alternity series.

I'd say so. They have been promoting the other two quite a bit, but not much word on Max. I wonder if he has been canned altogether?
Let's have a little lok at Alternity soushireikans shall we?
So far we have had:
Convoy
Magnus (He was for a little while)
Dai Atlus
Convoy (again)
Star Saber
Fortress Maximus
I wonder if we can expect to see
Rodimus
Ginrai
Chromedome (Might be pushing the rank thing, but he seemed popular.)
Star Convoy
Later on leading into Beast Convoy etc etc?
