A heap of official images have been posted up on the Amazon Japan website, covering toys from the next 6 months... giving us some really great first looks at some of them.

Encore 20A Devastator & Encore 23 Fortress Maximus (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/official-images-takara-tomy-encore-20a-devastator-and-encore-23-fortress-maximus/26017/) - looks like Fort Max will be virtually identical to the original (if this is pics of the new one).

Masterpieces (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/official-images-takara-tomy-masterpiece-mp15-rumble-ravage-mp16-frenzy-buzzsaw-and-mp10b-black-convoy/26018/) - 15 (Rumble & Ravage), 16 (Frenzy & Buzzsaw), 10B (Black Convoy).

Generations (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/official-images-takara-tomy-transformers-generations-tg03-through-tg14/26016/) - 03 (Blast Off), 04 (Vortex), 05 (Brawl), 06 (Swindle), 07 (Onslaught), 08 (Kickback), 09 (Starscream), 10 (Sideswipe), 11 (Ultra Magnus), 12 (Air Raid), 13 (Soundwave w/ Laserbeak), 14 (Soundblaster w/ Buzzsaw).
All with shiny colours.

When are the Takara FOC figures going to be available?

I need that Starscream ASAP (although I am increasinly concerned that the chest is going to be a massive gap, a la FE Cliffjumper) (which still turned out okay to be fair)

MP-15 and MP-16, hope these are not the final product, cause the paint on them looks sloppy:rolleyes:

Maxie looks great! :) Not a fan of the retooled Devvie head, probably because I'm more of a fan of toy accuracy than show likeness, but I can see how this'd appeal to show-likeness fans. :) The Constructicons individually look really nice and they seem to have gone for a more G1-accurate shade of green (at least, it looks that way in the prototypes/photos). Not bothered to get the whole set again though.

Between January and March next year. The exact dates are on the Amazon.jp links on that Seibertron page.

I think the masterpiece Tapes look awesome, it looks like Ravage also produces weapons from the cassette mode with no add-on parts. The Frumble brothers also look like they have ball joints on their necks, for added articulation.

I'm curious to see if they've re-engineered Fort Max to look the same but use less plastic. otherwise I'm super tempted to grab a Fort Max. I have pre-ordered at BBTS but might end up getting it from Robot kingdom or somewhere since it's that much cheaper.

I know right? I was thinking, maybe I should cancel my MP Soundwave. This hobby is getting a bit too expensive.

And then I looked at those cassettes.

Hmm, maybe I will just cancel the Prime and regular figures instead....:D

Cancelling Soundwave!?! - I wont have that sort of talk round here buddy! :p:D

In all seriousness though, having an MP Soundwave along with his MP Mini-Cassette minions along with him is something no one should miss out on; this is what the Masterpiece line can achieve with direction & supporting it could yield some truly magnificent pieces, so do your part people and satiate that hunger for a little piece Superiority! ;)

The MP's look pretty decent.

The FOC toys are nicely painted, but there's only so much that can be done for some of the moulds, still not thrilled by them.

Not as of yet, but the precedent has been set with the existence of Soundwave & Co and it would be entirely baffling to think that Takara wouldn't capitalise on such a prospect as a "vs. battle" between 2 relative scaled Masterpiece "Cassette/Radio Robos" - If you know what I mean. ;)

The first two FOC toys (Optimus & Jazz) are priced at about 3000yen, which is about AU$37... each! (an increase of about 50% on the Arms Micron Deluxe retail price, which are only 2000yen)

As much as I want to get these shiny JP versions, it's gonna end up costing about $45-50 each (shipped, varying on how many can be bought at once)... and the Voyagers are likely to be double that, based on the price difference in other JP lines. :(

Tetsuwan Convoy

Wow, that's a significant price hike. Although most Japanese retail will probably got to 2200 yen, that is still higher than a lot of other toys (which are more popular) in Japan.

Usually after a few weeks the price will then drop by a few hundred yen (¥200-¥500 odd) for while, until they get put on clearance and (if you're lucky) you can pick them up for a song.

That could be why. The images on the Amazon.jp links are all new decos with shiny paints.

I'd expect actual store retail prices to vary (and discount later), but I was just going by the Amazon.jp prices, which had TFPrime (Arms Micron) Deluxe toys for 2000yen over the last year, but are listing the Generations Deluxe toys for 3000yen... a significant enough increase to note it as a being applicable to that new line. And judging by the paint-work, it explains why these ones are so much more expensive.

The Arms Micron toys are the odd ones out, unusually cheap at 2,100Y retail - TF United deluxes retailed for 2,940Y. Oddly, the voyager United toys were 3,780Y vs 4,200Y for an Arms Micron voyager. Haphazard, it seems!

Like Playdoh colours...
The original Hasbro official pics from their slide shows and press release had a shiny effect to them, but the final products are less than inspiring.

And just to compare to the SDCC version, which was also meant to be in game colours (like the JP version)...

The JP Bruticus does look nice but a nice paint scheme isn't enough to save this toy let alone justify for the price difference.

Well considering Hasbro is decreasing the amount of paint aps and their quality while keeping the same price, the Japanese not following suite and maintaining their standards more or less justifies the price rise.

Aside from that my friend who went to visit his Japanese friends said that everyone's wage went up and then cost of living (and extras like toys) caught up.

What's the extra piece included with Frenzy & Rumble?Just an educated guess, but it looks like a piece to store their pile-drivers when they're not in use...which also happens to make them look passably like a pair of batteries. Well played, TakTom.

Gotta hate that. Back in 2001 or so I dropped $360 on Landcross (the three "double" robots, not the giftset). About seven years later a Sydney based online store had the set of Multiforce on clearance for $20 for all six.

But hey, we know we got the originals

The toy should cost approx. $280~290*, and I'd expect postage to be about $100. So I'm personally aiming to save up $400 for the toy plus shipping. That's what Brave Maximus ended up costing me too ($300 for toy + $100 for shipping). Postage might cost less than that, because I got my Brave Max from BBTS so IIRC it was shipped from the US. Postage directly from Japan ought to be cheaper (I hope). But I'm gonna save up $100 for postage to err on the side of caution (better to overprepare than underprepare ;)).
