So much for a potentially robot-based space opera. At this rate, we'll have to wait until Transformers 6 for a good Transformers film.

Anyone else feel that a 20-something Texas race car driver and a high school student is just a little wrong? Let alone why they would be in Chicago?

New team coming back to clean up the Decepticon mess is a good starting point.

Let me guess... one of the Texan race car driver's race cars happens to be an Autobot? I hope it's not another Sam & Mikaela all over again.

Still... not enough info yet on which Decepticons will be in this, which I am waiting for.

A 20 something race car driver with a high school girl. We might get another unique transformer... One that changes into a trailer:p

when you mean trailer do you mean R*****s? Thats brilliant! If they have race cars I hope we get stunticons!

And another note Im really annoyed that they are going with the girlfriend/boyfriend romance again, it really is overdone. There needs to be something fresh. Im cool with the guy been a race car driver, but the female lead could be something else like a business woman or scientist. I dont know, and maybe she is a daughter of an oil tycoon, or a world renowned scientist. She could have a daughter, who goes to highschool and the father is the race car driver ;) sigh.

Maybe the movie will be focusing on the wreckers and one of the nascars is the race car??

Did we know how many bots came in the second wave???

Personally I say lets go for a female race driver and a male house husband! :D

Or a driver / manager combo would have worked.

I wonder if it will be another decepticon plot to rule the world from another ever mentioned top level con, or more of an Autobot hunting party?

And who will be the new Bumblebee that we can get 100 toys of? How come he won't be able to talk? Who will he pee on? Whose dogs will get more screen time than some robots? Who will play obnoxious, slightly racist stereotyped minority groups?

Interesting, though bay would never cast the lead male as a house husband!

or how about 2 drivers who are rivals. Just re-reading my last post, Im now thinking to much drama, but I do like the idea of an oil tycoon.

Personally I say lets go for a female race driver and a male house husband! :DNaw, let's make things easy for ol' Michael Bay so he's got more time to think up new toilet humour jokes.
He's a US Ranger, she's a lingerie model. The robot is still Bumblebee except this time he sounds like R2-D2, but he's not really important.

I don't think that's exactly what was meant.... Think along the lines of Cletus and Francine from the Simpsons.;)

So, with it being a continuation, then there won't be a major shift in the aesthetic of the figures either. Excitement level down. Although it was never very high as it is. At least my expectations are low now.:D

Hehe why not make it a musical.... Carnage in c minor.... Some singing some dancing vanilla ice can release the bumblebee rap

Or let's say the 20 something race car driver with ruggedly handsome good looks drives a decepticon and the gorgeously busty school girl (who accidently posts a topless shot on twitter) stumbles apon bumblebee and miraculously fixes his voice box where ratchet failed after all these years.....Autobot meets decepticon...boy meets girl. Bot impales decepticon....and becomes over protective protector..........but we will know there will be a big fight where Optimus becomes a one bot wrecking crew decapitating impaling and collecting heads forgetting about the other 12 characters confronting a combiner that actually looks half decent or the "final battle" that last six seconds and then they all ride my little ponies off into the sunset!

Actually I would rather see them board the lost light and head into space!!!

So another human focused movie with robots fighting in the background

There hasn't been much announced yet, so wait until we have a plot or specific details before bagging it.

It has been noted that some of it could be filmed in London/England, as a casting call was found (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/transformers-4-filming-in-london/26063/) mentioning London as a location.

Considering there is pretty much no info, the reactions in this thread start off funny but quickly become sad.

And, really, if you think that "a high school girl" in this movie will be younger than 17 or 18 you're mad--they love to do that "growing up, being strong, looking to the future" story in Hollywood, and they love to do it with people justt about to leave High School. Kind of surprised a possible age difference of 4 - 10 years is raising hackles.

As long as whoever is cast in the end acts better than the mannequin that replaced Fox, the romance can be between an 18 and 50 year old for all I care.

Michael Bay is a formulaic director so anyone who has seen the previous three movies (specially the last two) should know fairly well what the 4th movie will be like.

Some people may love or hate Bay's movies but let's not fool ourselves that it will be any different this time around. Already what little has been revealed is beginning to sound awfully familiar despite the 'new take' promises.

I'd rather hear people saying "I told you so" afterwards if he does produce something trashy... than spoil it for those people who actually like his movies and feel ostracised by their fellow collectors here.
Wait until after we have the movie, to criticise... for the sake of your fellow fans who don't want to see constant negativity here.

I can understand how people that still have a positive opinion about the films can feel a little daunted at posting up their views with a large number of us having a negative view (well at least the vocal majority;)). I would be more than happy for this next film to change my opinion of Michael Bays Directing but unfortunately his track record speaks for itself (I did actually like the first film). If people have a positive opinion of the films and the upcoming film they should voice it. Someones personal point of view is never wrong as it is how they perceive things. One last thing, I would never comment on age difference of the love interest as I'd be the biggest hypocrite around:D

Most of this site is rather positive/inviting/encouraging, or else people wouldn't keep coming back, saying that it is a better atmosphere than the major/global fan forums. We do have a small number nagging negative issues that are emphasised by a vocal minority (which I try to hose down as much as possible), but if you fixate on those couple of issues instead of the majority of good topics/issues, you will only spoil it for yourself and others by highlighting them.

Unless it's a role like his Date Night one.

ETA: The Transformers fandom in general is hugely negative, and that's something that I wish would change but probably never will. And there's so many different places with different (but equally irritating, often unwarranted) types of negativity (but I'm not going to say specific places. If we didn't get such cool toys I don't think I'd have the energy to be a part of this fandom.

I agree... that's what I did after seeing ROTF and DOTM... I didn't trash it until after I saw it. But, unfortunately, Bay doesn't have a good track record (and I'm counting ALL his films, not just Transformers films), so I think it's perfectly reasonable for people to say they're not looking forward to it, or not expecting much.

It's not just Transformers... every fandom is negative. Try going on a MOTU site, for example, and watch the venom flow. Seriously, passion for collecting has different effects on different people.

I don't really think we are really all that negative, I enjoy all points of view. I have a love/hate view of the last 2 movies. The first movie was a great starting point. I do think negativity can spiral out of control though, because others start to build on what others have said.

Honestly though whatever is produced in movies or toys and such, the producers have a hard time really, because they need to make it work to make money. As far as fans go, in pleasing us they may throw afew things our way, but they may as well as be damned if they do/damned if they don't because not all of us will like it or thought maybe should of gone with something else. We are the world's worst critics :o

Regarding the plot for this new transformers 4, its right its to early to judge.

I didn't say that Bay was going to make something trashy or criticizing, I was merely trying to keep as neutral as possible and emphasize on the fact that Bay is formulaic regardless if the outcome is well received or not. If you enjoyed the previous movies, expect to enjoy the next one because it is almost certain that it will be very similar. The same goes for the opposite

Yeah, I have my bias against Bay movies but that was not brought up here, in fact you are the one who just illustrated his movies with a negative spin by bringing up the possibility of it turning out "trashy".

Meh i will go against the trend and say i am looking forward to TF4, whilst i enjoyed the movies overall i can see why the negativity as some aspects were ridiculous but hey it has grossed billions of dollars and bought a lot of interest back to Transformers which at the end of the day cannot be a bad thing.
My young neighbour watched the movies and started buying the movieverse toys but has now looked into TFs more and is becoming a full blown fan, so good things do come out of Bay world.

I am sure it will be over the top but i will watch it and enjoy it for what it is, a Michael Bay movie with Transformers in it :)

I enjoy the movies while I'm watching them. It's only when I think back on them that I start to feel disgruntled. I think I'm one of the few who enjoyed RotF much more then the first. DotM was also good though it felt forced.
My gripe is that the movies stand apart IMO from the rest of the franchise design wise.
Most characters when stood next to each other look as though they come from the same place. Put a movieverse character next to any other iteration of the same and it just feels alien. It doesn't feel "Transformers" to me. More like the difference between Machine Men and Transformers. Not a good comparison but best I can do.
It's also the way the movies tend to push out other toylines in favour of movie toys only to be cancelled before it's had it's full run.

I look forward to TF4. IMO each movie has been better then the last so it can only be better.
