Straight from Hasbro Australia comes news about some new Transformers clothing for adults.

After about 4 years of adult clothing items at JayJays, with most of it being fairly successful, a new adult clothing range is coming to a BigW store near you.... brought to you by Mambo clothing.

Mambo is a clothing range that began in Australia three decades ago, and remains an iconic brand in this country, featuring the recognisable "farting dog" logo.

Starting December 1st at BigW, Mambo Transformers clothing will begin with t-shirts, shorts and hats. Below are some sample images of what to expect (more may follow).

Press Release from Hasbro...

CULTURAL ICONS MAMBO AND TRANSFORMERS LAUNCH
BOYS CLOTHING – “MAMBO-TRON’’ FOR CHRISTMAS

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA –November, 2012 – Global branded play company Hasbro (NASDAQ:HAS) has joined forces with Australia’s icon brand Mambo to produce an exclusive collection that fuses the art style and humour of Mambo with the appeal of TRANSFORMERS characters and iconography.

The TRANSFORMERS brand has a large fan base due to the multiple consumer touch points which has kept it at the forefront of popular culture thanks to hugely successful TRANSFORMERS movies, animated TV series, toys, video games and publishing.

“We at Hasbro are excited by the creative interpretations of our beloved TRANSFORMERS characters. The Mambo art style and humour are on-trend, relevant and uniquely Australian” says George Khoury, Customer Marketing and Licensing Director.

With a history of bringing artwork and sense of cheeky Aussie humour to many brand collaborations, Mambo is thrilled to be adding a globally recognised and much loved brand like TRANSFORMERS to its portfolio. When the opportunity rose to give this iconic brand an extraterrestrial
coat of graphically enhanced humour, the team at Mambo grabbed it with both animatronic hands.

Mambo Mens and Youth Designer Brent Smith explains, "I grew up entrenched in both Mambo and TRANSFORMERS, so it was a true pleasure to merge the two cultural icons. Using inspiration from Aussie cars, local fauna and all our stereotypical attributes, we injected some humour and Mambo DNA into the Autobots”.

Answering every boy’s dream, the very affordable range priced between $20- $30 will be available exclusively at Big W stores nationally from December 1, 2012. The collection features a core range of boys summer basics – tees, raglans, boardshorts and caps - offered in classic colours, featuring exclusive prints that fuse the iconic Mambo farting dog with the TRANSFORMERS characters.

So, from the six items revealed above, which are the ones you'd buy? (in case someone from Hasbro, Mambo or BigW wanted to see what dedicated fans think, and intend to buy)

If there were some Decepticon based items, I'd very much consider a couple of them. :o

None; don't like them.

Yeah, I also don't think I would buy any of these. They're as generic as the latest JayJay's clothing range... very uninspiring. It's almost as if they're just playing it safe.

I actually checked the date to see if it was April 1st.

I'd maybe buy the bucket hat?

I think they are a decent effort, and if successful, they managed to blend two iconic, yet demographically different, brands.
I remember when Mambo was first out in the late 80s, it was the trendy thing to wear to be "sociologically accepted" at high school... which didn't so much bother the geeky demographic that was into things like Transformers toys, computers and fantasy/scifi (because they didn't care about heeding peer-pressure-induced fads, or just knew that they wouldn't be accepted by the "cool crowd", "trend setters" anyway).
I'm sure there was some who were into both, but generally speaking, at school it was the "Mambo" demographic that would look down on, or pick on the "Transformers" demographic.
Which is why I'm curious to see how well this concept ends up going.

I like the boardshorts and the tootin' dog shirt. I like to wear things on the subtler side of TF tshirts.

Who's turn is it to drop this news on the international boards?

There is less chance they are all familiar with the Mambo farting dog ..hehehe!

I might consider the board shorts but I'd get sick of em really fast. The rest I'd say no, as Im not really a hipster :p
my dress sense ranges from daggy to smart casual.

...yeah, this doesn't really appeal to me. I prefer Jay Jay's stuff over this. Meh.

Maybe if they had a farting K-9. ;)

I'm really keen on the boardies actually. :)

I've got waaaay more TF shirts than I need (about 70) so the shirts don't interest me. But I've only got 1 pair of TF shorts which I never wear for fear of wrecking them, so might pick up a pair of boardies if I find myself in a town with a Big W.

Picked up the blue design shirt from big w on the weekend. Have always loved this design of the mambo dog and having him optimusized makes it even more appealing to me :D
The shorts aren't really my style and the grey shirt is a bit boring so wont bother picking them up.

I got Mambo TF PJs for Christmas. Similar design on the top with the dog, but also says more than meets the eye and Transformers (with AB logo). The shorts are just autobot and decepticon logos. I accidentally chucked the special edition tag.:(:p

yeah, i got the PJ's as well. which are not like yours BFD but they have the autobot symbol on the pants and the top has The Transformers tag with the autobot logo and then LOADING at the bottom as if it was being downloaded. Which are cool but they are black and on a hot night in summer that's the last color i want to wear.:) will post a pic soon

I understand the character profile, but I wouldve preferred Ravage to be playing sweet music out of his behind.
